  1. Wondered if anyone else is going through what i'm experiencing? I'm in a 100+ mem target club in Northern Ireland that have ditched BASC and who are shortly going elsewhere with their affiliation. Since this process first started, i've received two BASC letters from across the water (not from the NI Director/Rep - we still don't have one, after @6 months of waiting) imploring/encouraging/threatening me to rejoin as an individual. Am i alone in experiencing this emotional turmoil? Has anyone in NI/Scotland/Wales/England any tips on what to do? spotlight
  2. Received this from Edwin Poots this afternoon "Thank you very much for your recent email reference the Wildlife Bill that was debated in the House yesterday. After speaking to DUP Senior colleagues yesterday morning, Amendment 23 will be withdrawn. I hope you are pleased with this outcome and if you wish to contact our office again, please feel free to do so." @@@@@ @@@@@@@ Personal Assistant Edwin Poots Constituency Office happy days spotlight
  3. NI had a population of 1685267people, in 2001, with @126k people over 18. http://www.nisranew.nisra.gov.uk/census/pd...s2001PopRep.pdf Scotland had a population of 5,062,011, in 2001, with 3,963,147 over 18 for comparison. http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/files1/the-...us/01poprep.pdf :yp:
  4. it seems to have 5 staff (one of them is the director) http://www.basc.org.uk/en/in-your-area/scotland/ :yp:
  5. thanks david for the quick reply which clarifies the BASC position. But doesn't it seem like a telling off from the headmaster? You tell us of 3 staff and a very capable rep (as i'm sure Tommy is!). But no parity of esteem (to quote our illustrious politicans in NI) with the rest of the UK. We are after all, paying the same membership fee as someone in England, Scotland or Wales. But really, are BASC saying that "that's all your entitled to!" and giving us the fingers at the same time. We tell all, that listen, that BASC is the biggest voice for shooting in the UK, but does that now apply to NI? Without a BASC Director, i feel hard done by! Surely, we have the clout in NI, with our large membership numbers, to have a Director who can hit them where it hurts! spotlight :yp:
  6. Hi all, It's been roughly a fortnight since we lost our BASC rep. and it seems that we need one more than ever! Proposals to the NI Wildlife Order/Bill and last minute ammendments seem to be to the detriment of all countrysports users in NI and those wishing to visit our wee country. Does it not seem time that BASC advertise and appoint a Director, just like very other regions in the UK? We representation now! It's brilliant that David BASC lets us know of these troubled times at Stormnt but surely a Director at the coal face can do more? If BASC are in the process of appointing a Director then brilliant, i stand corrected! If not, why not? spotlight
  7. thanks david, Hoepfully we in NI can have a BASC director up and running in his or her post before too long. It wouldn't do to have an under strength BASC NI team trying to work on the side of honest country folk, especially in these difficult times. It's clear that the other UK BASC regions have a director so no doubt about it, we need one too! Hope to hear good news from BASC about an advertisement/appointment before too long! Either BASC or i will keep all the BASC NI users informed! spotlight
  8. Hang on, there's nothing there! (Some people say the doctor finds the same when he shines a torch into my ear!) Any idea when the post will be advertised, David? spotlight
  9. brilliant, thanks david! I'll go and have a look! spotlight
  10. Glad to see that they have got someone to stand in so quick. Hopefully they will be able to advertise and then appoint someone permanently. Might even apply for the job myself (as well as i remember my p's and q's!). Dear BASC, where can i get an application form? Yours, Spotlight
  11. I was wondering what has happened to Roger Pollen? I noticed that Tommy Mayne is now NI rep for BASC. If Roger is away, then i'm sorry to see him go. Can anyone shed light on the matter? http://www.basc.org.uk/en/in-your-area/northern-ireland/ spotlight
  12. mayfly, i browsed the basc website and it looks like the course requirements involve you becoming a basc member. some of the courses involve more than one day but accomodation is not included. kinda would put me off, with prices like that! spotlight
  13. hi mayfly, i looked up the deer course details in the latest sacs magazine, looks like you can do the course even without being a member. They must have been flat out taking new members anyway and dealing with other lads who wanted to get signed up for the deer course itself. I wonder how it compares to the other organisations? I know that when i read my NI notes in the BASC magazine, the deer course nearly always fills the page. Never been tempted to do it, i'm happy to stck to the wee guns (for the minute). But still a one day course for £100 rather than £300 for a 3 day course with BASC sounds like a good deal! I suppose if you like the SACS deer course you could always join them afterwards! Is it true that to do the BASC deer course you have to join them as part of the deal? spotlight ps - well done to Bill Beckett for a cracker show at Moira!
  14. hi lads, just back from moira fair. Went for both days, overcast and drizzle on and off on Saturday but Sunday a scorcher but windy. Some nice new set ups, and some new stalls. Basc and CAI seemed to have a new set up, but couldn't find Roger Pollen anywhere. They looked busy but i think SACS were flat out with new members, seems that their new Deer Course is taking off like a rocket, not sure about the wee men in skirts that were outside the SACS tent though! Spotlight
  15. hi lads, i was just wondering if my FAC variation time was fast or slow? I sent in my variation in mid Jan this year for a short and a long, and got my certificate back at beginning of May. Spotlight
