About Me
Lincolnshire born and bred. Grew up in North East Lincs, and now live in South Lincs. Have been shooting and fishing for as long as I can remember, but took a break from both for a while to set up home and family.
Served my shooting apprenticeship with a BSA Mercury, then soon after a Weirauch HW35E, plinking 500 pellets a month easily, every single night.
Dad taught me how to shoot with his MK38 trap gun, and he is a brilliant coach. He was once AA class trap.
I have around 300 acres to shoot over only minutes from home. It's shared with another two guns so sport can be a little on the slow side sometimes. It's typical Fenland - flat, flat and more flat. There's one small copse on the land I shoot, but it's mostly fields without hedgerows. There's almost always a flightline there though, and plenty of rabbits to be had too.
Another part of my permission backs onto a vast mere where there's plenty of duck and geese - will be hitting that hard this winter, but shooting carefully as I don't have a dog to retrieve in water.
I enjoy the odd round of clays, mainly skeet and sporting, and used to shoot ISU skeet in Bedford - I like a challenge!
I am the editor of Gofishing.co.uk. It's the website of the Angling Times, Sea Angler, Trout Fisherman, Trout and Salmon, Improve Your Coarse Fishing and UK Carp magazines, and my main role there is to source quality tips, tactics and techniques to help our users catch loads more than ever before.
