  1. what happens to warrenties when you purchase a used scope with a lifetime warranty. is it transferable and how? by the way my scope is Zeiss. Any help much appreciated
  2. i use Nosler balistic tip or Sierra Blitz King in 50gr for my 22-250 on foxes with brilliant results both bullets have very consistant weights ant boat tail design which i think is important in long rang shooting.
  3. I've started buying re-loading gear from the states, is just as qiuck and stock is plentiful they know what customer service is all about! Worth buying a load at a time to save on shipping though. jimmer
  4. Glass quality really.Lamping, and low light shooting. The problem with german glass i cant find a higher than 10/12x on a 56mm scope. My local Gun shop has a mint one of these and want £900 fo it. I'm not sure if this is about right seemed a bit steep to me? jimmer
  5. Does anyone use this scope? and is it as good as S&B,Zeiss and swarovski equivilents? All advise wanted please. Jimmer
  6. i have the scope mounted striker and nearly always lamp on my own. I did try the 100w lamp and went back to the 75w for battery life reasons but i dont have a dimmer. I think a dimmer would be useful for rabbits, just not sure how reliable they are.
  7. When i started reloading i was told to only buy RCBS. The quality is very good. i would suggest buying digital scales as they are easier to use, a primer pocket cleaner rather than a brush (i'm not sure if the make matters on this they all look the same) and a lee powder measure set (set of small scoops) for starting to measure powdres roughly. If you have loads of brass from factory fired ammo you may not need a case trimmer for a while. Hope this helps. James
  8. i use 2x 7Ah batteries on a belt pack. They don't last any where near as long as advertised. When used for a period of time the battary performance may not diteriate too fast but the distance of the beam does, this is annoying when foxing, it would not be so much of an issue for rabbits. It would last for 2 hours of intermitent use on foxes and probably double that for rabbit shooting distances before needing a charge. Also the standard chargers are rubbish, i find a car battery charger to be a lot better and shorter charging times. I wouldn't want any more weight than the 2 x 7Ah batteries that i have. Hope this helps. James
  9. Thanks for the advise much appreciated. Do you find the S&B 10x power enough on long shots? Are there any other websites that sell used high end rifle scopes? With shoots shutting down, keepers losing jobs and the credit crunch i'd expect more to be on the market. James
  10. I currently have a Schmidt & Bender 8x56 on my Sako 75 and find it fine up to 200 yards but a little taxing on the eye over 200 yards. I've been told to stick with a 56mm scope for dawn til dusk performance, which i do a lot of, but is a 50mm scope really make that much differance? All vari power 56mm scopes only seem to go up to 10x which isn't a lot better than what i've got already apart from Nightforce/Swarovski top of the range that are 15x which seems ideal but out of my pruce range. Can any body reccommend a scope for up to 300 yard shots? Many thanks James
  11. I dont't mean do they have snow ball fights, make snow men or sledging. Are foxes usually around when there is snow on the ground or do they stay in hiding for better weather? Just wondered if it was worth a wonder about? Any opinions much appreciated
  12. I like many other first time rifle users have had a mentor on my certificate for the last 12 months. My mentor is going to write a letter to my local police force to tell them that i don't need him to mentor me anymore. Should i send my license with the letter? just want to have a speedy turnaround? Any help much appreciated Cheers
  13. Just wondered what people were using for foxes. I've been using 50gr nosler balistic tips in my styer .22-250 with 38 gr H380. I've had good results with these. Is a 55 gr bullet any more beneficial and is a Hornady A max a similar type of tip design to the Noslers? I've also heard of people loading 70gr bullets for windy nights is there really any real benefit from this. Any help much appreicated
  14. Cheers lads for the replys, i'm going to try the camo tape idea and the tape on scope lense as well i'll report back when i've got some results
  15. I have a lightforce 170 scope mounted lamp with 2x 7Ah batteries in a belt pack. I'm very pleased with it. I would suggest using differant size lamps depending on application, mine came with a 75w as standard but i use a 100w now but this is very bright. I prefer the belt pack for shooting on my own as stays close to your body as opposed to a shoulder bag especially if your lying on the ground a lot. The battery charger in my battery kit was rubbish though looks like a glorified phone charger, i use a car battery charger now. also if using a moderator be careful/prepared for scope glare problem which i currenty have. Hope this helps
  16. The lamp i take it your on about?
  17. I have a garlands version of the muffler on my mod already. I think the glare comes from the rear of the mod or barrell even though both are a matt finish
  18. I have a Lightforce 170 scope mounted lamp on my styer with S&B 8x56 and T8 mod. I seem to get terrible glare reflecting off of the moderator on to the objective lense which make the image impossible to look at. I've moved the lamp about 1.5" above the existing mount to try to reduce this but with no success. I've since put a piece of tube above the front of the objective lense which seems to illiminate the glare. The piece of tube extends about 5" from the front of the scope, this is not ideal. I've seen scope sunshades which i guess would do the same job properly but i need one 5" long. Does anyone else have this problem, and or remedies to solve the glare. Any help much appreciated
