    Thanks kenny.

I would not say our lab have a gentle tail motion, When our daughter was still small the lab use to knock her over with that tail, lol. But i know what you mean.

  2. We had 2 cats on our farm and they would not eat cat food for weeks until the rats are sorted out, i think it all depends on the cat you have.

What was amazing was, when i was little i was given a white rabbit, this is way before we had cats. Everyday we would find dead rats and mice on the lawn with a bite marks, we could not understand what will kill them and then don`t eat them.

So the one day one of the game rangers came to the farm to check out the problems we had with otters, He then noticed the dead rats and had a look at them and asked if we have lots of Rabbits, my mother said yes my son got one as a pet.

It was then when the ranger explained to us that the rabbits compete for food and territory with the rats and mice and its quite normal for them to kill the rats.

    Weird or what!

  4. If you are new to shooting Worsley are currently doing a deal - 5 lessons (normally 1 on 1) of 50 birds and a years club membership. Can't remember if it is £250 or £300 now but at £55 per lesson and £60 for membership it is not a bad deal.

Membership benefits £20 per 100 not £22 and currently a free 100 after 10 rounds - not an awful lot but it does bring the cost down a bit.

Thanks Yellow Bear, i am new to clays only but have been shooting since a little kid, in South Africa you get born with a rifle in your right hand. :good:

  5. I like Worsley too. Nice surroundings and people and some interesting targets. It comes in for some criticism sometimes, but it's usually from people who can't hit the targets  :blush:

They certainly hire out guns, but I think I'm right in saying they're always in great demand, as they do a lot of corporate stuff there. You'd need to book it in advance and even then I don't think it's easy, unless you've also booked a lesson with a coach :good:

As Ian says, the best thing is to tag along with an SGC holder and use their gun. I'm often there on Saturdays, but I'm getting a bit erratic (not there this Saturday for instance as shooting a competition at Catton Hall on Sunday)

You'd be welcome to tag along with us when I am there, if you can stand the grief (merciless pi$s-taking) but not sure exactly the next time I'll be there at the moment

The times when we start shooting are getting erratic as well, due to work commitments and stupidity :good:

    Thank you Chard.

I will keep you in mind, i have some of me plumbing exams coming up in a thew weeks so i am in no rush, when the time is right ill pm you.

Thanks again and to others that replied.

    Regards.

  6. Afternoon chaps.

I am looking for a good clay shoot in or near Manchester.

I don`t have my SGC yet, so ill need a club where i can beg, borrow, ok hire a gun till i can get my own.

I have found a load of clubs on google and on BASC, but i wouldl like to know from people that have been there and would like to recommend it.

The wife would also kill me if i molest our bank account so i would prefer a club that is reasonable in price but good value for money.

Sorry if this has been ask before, i just want to find a good place.

    Regards.

  7. You must have the patience of a saint TC

This is a bit off topic, but a thew years ago i was working on a sardine trawler, and the nets got torn on reefs sometimes if the water was shallow, i can remember 6 of us crew sitting in the harbour for hours and hours fixing the holes, sometimes 10 to 20 meters at a time, and the net had to be check weekly, and 28m by 800m is no easy task.

  8. The built in flash is just for a fill in flash during the day time like when the sun is from behind and your face for example is darkened by the shade. its mostly to do with the light gathering quality, the CMOS censer.

Some slr accessories should still be fine, but not all may work, not to sure on that tho.

If you have the cash why don`t you go for the 5d, the 4d is the top of the consumer range but the 5d is well into the prosumer range.

    Regards Chris.

  9. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE COIN issued by the Royal Mint by mistake and it is rare because it is not dated.

I have a thew 20p coins, must just get some sand paper out the garage and bob`s your uncle

  10. Hi deadeye ive.

    I have a eos 450d.

Its a really good camera but its very difficult to get good shots in low light conditions, especially if your going to use it when you go out shooting.

I don`t want to put you of it, i will not get rid of mine soon, since it is good but the problems in the low light can become frustrating.

    Its just worth remembering.

  11. I had some people over from abroad and had to take them out site seeing.

Saturday i took them to Scarborough showed them around got them the tee shirt, then told them i am going to show them the country side, all the way to York.

One thing that got my attention was the moles, there was thousands of them, mile after mile, so i was wondering if you can hunt them somehow? thought it might be fun.

And today we went to the north and south lakes, it is dam beautiful out there. But on our way back, we saw this warning sign on the motor way, like the ones saying to watch out for deer, but and a BIG but, this one said beware of the plains for 6 miles??:hmm:?:hmm:?;)????? and i really mean it when i say planes, the type you use when you go on holiday

it even had the plain symbol!!!!!!

  12. I grew up on a farm in South-Africa, and we had lots of fruit trees, apples, pears, peaches, grapes and apricots.

And with all these fruits comes allot of little birds eating them, so when i was 4 i got my first air gun and was paid something stupid like 2p for every bird i shoot. so of i went shooting, man did i buy lots of sweets and fire crackers with that.

Then when i was 6 i got my hands on my grandad`s pump action shotgun, then there was murder-everything got shot, birds, bunnies and the occasional impala or kudu.

It just went from there then, the shotty turned into bigger rifles and the game got bigger. What a way to grow up eh.

After all that nice shooting i have never ever had a go at clays tho, funny ain`t it.

    Regards Chris.
