  1. Hi! I have recently aquired a rather nice Midland Gun Co. O/U single trigger ejector. The only thing is the previous owner has misplaced the chokes! So, does anyone know where I can find a list of choke dimensions and thread pitches so I can get some ordered. I have spoken to two different manufacturers but neither of them seem interested as I don't know what chokes fit! I can however tell you Hatsan and Ithica chokes don't!
  2. I'm looking for a .22RF Martini action for my left handed boy to shoot as a bench rest rifle. Ideally a BSA Martini Target, what ever it is it need to have dove tails or be drilled ready to accept them. Thanks in advance
  3. My biggest regret in terms of shooting is selling my Voere Semi auto. My Brother now has it along with his bolt action Voere. They both shoot just as well as any of my firearms and the semi auto seems to thrive on neglect - he hardly ever cleans it and it just keeps shooting. You won't be dissapointed. For what it's worth every one on here is quick to recommend CZ. Well I'd never buy another! I had a brand new 452. The stock fit to the action was poor, the blueing was fragile at best and when it started to light strike strike nor the RFD I bought it from or the UK importers wanted to know. I now have a Marlin .22XT bolt action, a Marlin 70HC semi auto and I think for the money they take some beating. Group well, don't seem to be fussy about ammunition and handle nicely. I have previously also had a Savage 93 - that I shouldn't have sold but did as I fancied a change.
  4. Strange, I've got three Hawke scopes (2x30mm tube side focus and a 1" Panorama EV) and they are superb. I rate the 30mm tube Hawkes higher than my Bushnell Elite and I prefer any of them to my Platinum Night eater. None of them suffer with whiting out when lamping, the glass is crisp right to the edge and the zero never shifts. Have you had bad experience with the cheaper end of the range?? For what it's worth I don't think the Panorama EV actually increases the field of view - but that's my only gripe. Surprised no ones recommended the MTC range of scopes yet.
  5. I've got one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/hawke-sidewinder-tac-30-scope-4-5-14x42-/291238266824?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item43cf2747c8#ht_38wt_1190 On my .22LR and it's great! So good infact I'm thinking of getting another to go on my .243 instead of my Bushnell Elite.
  6. As per the title, looking for a 4x40 or 6x40 AO scope for a friend. A mountmaster or similar would be idel. Thanks in advance Spook
  7. Thanks for the replies guys! I've messaged Mandel chokes and got a reply straight back, he's going to see what he can find out for me. It is a cross bolt so I guess it is the same as the Fais as well
  8. I have just aquired a Midland Gun Company O/U 12 bore multi choke ejector. It's a nicle looking gun and doesn't stand me at much at all......Because it has no chokes. I've spend a few hours on the net looking for chokes but to no avail. From what I can work out it's actually a Sabatti (Italian proof marks and Sabatti supplied Midland Gun Co. amongst others) but that still doesn't help me in the hunt for chokes as I can't find any one that lists Sabatti chokes Any help in tracking down a pair of chokes would be great! (Pref. 1/4 & 1/2 B) )
  9. Hi Flazz! Forgot to say - he's left handed so bolt actions are OK to use as he's shooting from a bench and off a rest but the stocks tend to be the wrong shape. If it was the right money I wouldn't mind reshaping a stock to suit but obviously I don't want to modify a stock on an expensive rifle. Also I forgot to say - I've got a slot on my FAC for .22RF ready to go - no waiting for a variation.
  10. Hi! I'm trying to get hold of a BSA martini action .22LR to make into a bench rest rifle for my eldest to use. Been out bid on the two I was bidding on from Holts - and there arn't any in the left over lots. If you have one for sale please let me know - ooh it needs to have dove tails for scope mounts, not worried if it's been cut down or screw threadded. Thanks in advance Liam
  11. Good point, if it's not available theres no point developing a sweet load for it. 70 grn Ballistic tip sounds like a good starting point to me. I did realise you can't post them hence I put some one local, but I think a trip to Helston gunsmiths is in order..but it always gets expensive when I get in there B)
  12. Hi! I have reloaded for .223 in the past and still reload for my .357 but I'm going to start reloading for my .243. I've got Varget power and primed cases all ready to go but I'm wondering if anyone out there has a selection of .243/6mm bullets they could sell me, say 10 of each just so I can make some up and see what goups best in my rifle rather than me going out and buying boxes of 100 if it doesn't suit my barrel. I'm in Cornwall so local would be best and I'm thinking lighter would be better for my old BSA CF2 as I'm after Fox and have no intention of shooting deer. Thanks in advance Spook
  13. Copper is the active ingredient in the antifouling on my boat, it kills algae and a myriad of aquatic organisms very effectively !
  14. I love seeing posts like this, it really does restore a bit of faith in mankind.
  15. Thats a great idea too! I need to find some one with a well trained dog now....
  16. OOh err, I'll give em a miss then!
  17. That sounds about right for a firey ginger beer and a kilo of sugar. Adding the spender tablets really makes a difference too - the yeast can't eat it so it keeps a bit of sweetness. The ones I've made without have been a bit sharp.
  18. Wow, lots of great tips and things to try!If we're in a field with no distraction he's really pretty good, but if there's other dogs he's off. I read on another forum that primula squirty cheese is known as 'puppy crack' because they can't get enough of it! I tried it last night and it seems to be true, but I couldn't get him leave my side on or off the lead! I can see the advantages on the beach though, just squeeze some out and let him lick it off the tube - no dropping treats on the sand. I'll persist with the long line I think.
  19. Ah sorry fella, now I have guilt! But I have an eclipse sf30 on my rimfires and think they are great glass and when I saw this one I thought it would sit pretty on my .243.
  20. Yes please to the Hawke scope. Payment via paypal ok??
  21. I have Hawke Panorama's on my air rifles and I think for the money they take some beating, they really are crisp and bright although I'm not sure about their claims on extra field of view. I have a pair Hawke Eclipse 30 side focus's on my rimfires (.22lr+17HM2) and they are my favourite scope without a shadow of a doubt. I have a Nikko Platinum Night eater 6-24x56 that is the most fussy scope for eye relief and whites out badly if you take it lamping so it's going to go on a bench rest rifle for my son, in daylight however it really is crisp glass. I have a leupold 6-18x40 on my .243 and in cold weather it fogs internally - Leupold Lifetime guarantee?? They aren't interested. For what I spent on it I'd rather have another Eclipse 30SF. Oh I've also got a cheap chinese 2x40 red dot on top of my Winchester 94AE in 357magnum, It takes one hell of a beating and hasn't broken so far or lost zero! £20 well spent
  22. Hi! I have a friend that would like the Lee deluxe die set in .223. If you PM me your paypal address I'll get him to send you payment and his delivery address. Many thanks Spook.
  23. That's what we're talking about 20 litres at a time, one bottle from every batch saved and the best bit.... not had a hangover from drinking it! If anyone is near by they are more than welcome to join me for a couple - but you'd best get a taxi home! Also on the go at the mo is 15 litres of Pumpkin and honey wine and 20 litres of blackberry and apple wine/liqueur
  24. Cheers for that, you could be on to something But he is the campest looking dog ever! I wanted an English bull terrier or a sausage dog......
