Thanks, I now understand.

I dont care much for tradition and this is what I see this is; tradition. There are no other reasons for not allowing pump actions at game shoots because in a practical sense they do the exact same job as any other - as long as the user uses two carts. If anything they put the user at a disadvantage because of the slow cycling time. Can someone please explain to me how a pump at a game shoot is below standard and damaging the integrity of the sport? I dont break rules, without rules there would be anarchy (depending on what you mean by anarchy) but in this case I can honestly not see any difference. I couldnt even break the rules if I wanted to because I'm still waiting on the cert coming through. I say get the gun that you want if you enjoy having it.

Absolutey fine by me. They have lost out on my money because it is not as good as other people's with "traditional" weapons. You see my point that they are poking themself in the eye, they are the only losers as I may be able to go without game shooting but can they go without customers. I know most clay grounds dont really care that much of the type of shotgun as long as two carts are used. The last thing we want is shooting to be associated with snobery or the persuit of the upper class because then the antis will have extra support from the people who jump at the chance of class war like we seen with fox hunting. In my opinion fox hunting was subject to an extra disadvantage because it was seen as the persuit of the upper class in the eyes of the public. Tell that to the hooligans that go with a 3 wood wearing kappa trackies, burberry caps at a 45 degree angle and slugging from a can of Tennents that frequent some golf courses!

I fully agree with you. I feel this attitude is one of the major factors in the decline of shooting. When I get my cert I am going to purchase only one gun and thats going to be a Beretta semi auto and if the clay or game clubs dont like it then they have poked theirself in the eye.

Synthetic furniture generally costs more than wood, cost differs depending on what type of wood comes on the gun as standard. There are little practical differences between s/s and o/us ands its personal preference that governs which one you choose. Some people dont like the sighting of a s/s finding the two barrels a distraction. O/us look sportier I guess. Pump actions fire three shots before needing reloaded and are very reliable as the cycling mechanism is operated by hand and not like semi autos which rely on either recoil or gas operated cycling mechanisms. Pumps are slow to cycle because you operate it by hand and semi autos are fast to cycle because it works by the recoil or gas from the shot before. Some people find the semi automatic cycling mechanism a distraction - they also chuck the spent cartridges for miles. Side by side, over and unders and pumps are not fussy about cartridges. Semi autos are and some dont work well with heavy, light or reloaded cartridges. Which is annoying if you wish to save money by reloading, a real difference can be seen with steel shot. As for brands, depends on what you are looking for. Dont suppose you can really go wrong now a days. Pump actions, mossberg are supposed to be good value. Hope this has helped.

doh! :o To be honest I wish I had never bought it. Dont use it enough to justify the expense.

I've got a Garmin Street Pilot II and its pretty good. Its Reliable and has always given me the correct directions. It doesnt have an anoying American voice either which is always a bonus. The build quality is superb and fully water proof. Its an out of date model now so I cant speak for the newer Garmin range. The downside of it is (and its a big one); once youve forked out the initial capital in the purchase, the street maps go out of date then they hump you for new map software at about a £100 a time - which is in effect a running cost. Like Pike said they dont in general have speed camera locations on them. Thats what a Snooper is for which I am the proud owner also. Its a Snooper S4 neo which can detect Laser devices but not radar which is alright because radar guns are old technology that is being fased out in favour of laser guns instead. Snooper devices have a running cost also which is update of the database.

Yeh, any experiences I've had with Norton have always been bad. AVG is alright but I think that the updates dont come as quick as a paid for anti-virus program. A while back AVG didnt find virii that were on my computer because when I bought Panda anti-virus with firewall (platinum package) it found about 2 or 3 virii that AVG didnt find - infection was down to a clean windows install and net access without firewall to get updates to in turn protect me from virii!!!. Panda functions flawlessly on XP, the way it should be and Norton should take a leaf out their book. Windows really does suck, I wish I was brave enough to switch to Linux! :o

BBC news - Shot man not connected 'Too late' springs to mind. They should have been satisfied that he was connected with the incidents before shooting the guy 5 times dead. They now say that if the police officer who shot him is found guilty then others will refuse to carry guns at all - which is the standard protest when incidents like these occur.

I dont know the particulars of this case, infact I dont know anything about it. Maybe I shouldnt have used this as the example. I cant say much more than what ernyha has just said.

Those are nice 4x4s at least they get taken off road unlike the SUVs that have never seen mud! :( Are those lamps still legal, can remmeber hearing they banned them. Edit - I would blank the number plates because either your insurance may see it or someone with an identical vehical could clone the plates and youll get speeding fines through the door!

Hold your horses. Just read my post again, I wasnt guessing anything. I would tell you face to face my opinion, this just happens to be on the internet. I'm not scared to excercise my right to free speach.

You cant treat this news article as gospel because we don't know if the guy was a terrorist or even if this event took place. It wouldn't be the first time that a trigger happy policeman has gunned down someone for no reason; Table leg. It wouldn't even be the first time that someone has made up a story like this just to get famous out of a tragic event. Five bullets seems like a bit of a fantasy. If this event is in fact real then this raises serious questions about how the police are handling this (if in fact it was the police and not an intelligence agency). If the man was held under control of the police and therefore an opportunity arised of arresting him then why wasn't this done instead of effectively executing him? This isn't a banana republic that we a residing in. I thought this was the British Isles where everyone is entitled to a fair trial. By gunning people down in the street then aren't we sinking to the level of the terrorist?

The muslim clerics have condemned the violence but alot of these fanatics/ fundementalists/ terrorists believe that these clerics are sell outs and therefore their word is not worth anything. Supposedly in the Quran there is a bit something the equivelent of the bible where it says "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" and this is what these terrorists use an excuse for these terrorist acts.
