  1. William Powell are indeed still trading and have an excellent range of Side by Side sidelocks. I understand that they are made in Spain to their specifications. They are quite well regarded You may have done well, but age, condition etc do need to be considered. I have handled some of William Powell's modern guns and they are very nice indeed. I hope this helps a bit!
  2. I have seen a tidy 12 bore WJ Jeffrey boxlock non-ejector 28" for sale at £390. The stock has been cut down and extended again, but a good job and there is also a repair (pin) at the grip. Otherwise, good condition with no rust or dents. What do you guys think?
  3. I wouldn't bin live cartridges in any sort of usable condition...
  4. Sorted! I do know my MP fairly well, so I personalised the letter and am extremely happy to have a chat with her on the issue. She is supportive anyway!
  5. Evening all, I have seen a second hand Browning Medallist 20 bore in a local gun shop for £560. It seems a nice tight gun, but is the price and more importantly the model a good one? It seems to be fairly unused... I think! Thanks for your collective wisdom!
  6. Good luck!! I'm new to all this too, but I think you will be having a lot of fun over the next umpteen years!! Enjoy yourself and keep safe!
  7. Northampton gave me my SGC as soon as I got my cabinet installed. THEY rang me up to chase, when I seemed to be taking a while!!! Excellent service and a very nice FEO. Thanks Andi J!! We're pretty lucky in Northants; i have heard stories on this thread to make the hair curl! :o
  8. Mmmmm, I am a bit on the fence here...! The only way I use snap caps is to fire by gun after cleaning. I then remove the forend, break the action and remove the snap caps, before replacing the forend and putting the gin in the cabinet. I would NEVER leave the house with anything in the chamber of the gun.
  9. If you could stretch to a used Beretta you will never regret it!
  10. Sounds like they're doing brisk business! I bought my SP V from them last October and they were the second cheapest price I could find and are just nine miles from my front door. Good people too!
  11. Good work and congratulations on your fine new piece! Where did you go? Gilders? They have always been competitive on price.
  12. Well the game season has finished, unless you are a lucky beggar who has appointments tomorrow. A great day was had on Saturday, lovely sunshine, great company and a nice bag at the end of the day. Nice combination of walking (hard when the mud balls up on your boots!!) and standing. Also a stand at dusk in the local wood as the pigeons came in to roost. Next up, the shoot dinner! BTW I hope all you game shooters have had a great season!
  13. Sorry Mods Wrong forum; should be in general shooting matters or other shooting Apologies!
