  2. Hi Guys,

Anyone had any experience with Howa Rifles, a lot of the ground i have been offered is too small for the .308 i have down on my cert, so looking at getting a .22-250. Was thinking about the Lighting Stainless Synthetic Lite?

Any ideas on scope for that caliber? Will be using it for a lot of low light stalking and lamping foxes.

Any Info will be greatly appreciated.

i use a howa 1500 varimite ( heavy barrel ) rifle with fully floating barrel , go shooting with a few others which use sako's and some other top makes cant remember but they cost 3 times as much as mine was and at 200 yrds there is not any real diffence in accuracy, maybe its me or they are a **** shot but it has never missed a beat , great rifle , at 450 quid new with screw cut included it was a bargain .they are now going up in price so be quick before they get silly money . :good::P

  3. Hi,

I use a bog standard Challenger press and had a similar problem with my 223 and 55gr V-Max. It wasn't to the same extent as yours but suffice to say that the bullet would not seat as far in as it should have been able to. Have been loading for a good few years and was happy that I was doing nowt wrong and had never had this problem before with the 243. Double checked to make sure that I hadn't screwed up, checked dead length seater had actually hit the stop and not thread bound, all well. Money where mouth is and a VERY small amount at a time ground down the seater insert until the bullet would seat at the MOAL. Finished off ensuring it was flat and smooth. All well now but please don't ask why that should hve happened, because I haven't a clue except that in the millions that they produce someone put in the wrong insert.

    Cheers

thanks m8 . have done what you have done and it done the trick . cheers .

  4. reloading 22.250 using a lee turret press , the problem i am having using neck sizing collet die and dead lenght bullet seater is when the bullet is compressed into the case the total lenght is greater than the maximum overall lenght stated on the die set . maxium overall lenght by lee is 59,69mm and i can only achive 59,80mm . i know this is such a tiny amount am i worring about nothing . and yea the die is fully wound down to the stop . is it because i am only using 50gr bullets ? its not the powder stoping the bullet also as i have tryed with out the powder also . any ideas ? <_<:P also when using this 2 die set do i have to use a die crimp also ? as got mixed views on this or will just the neck sizing just be ok , watched too many you tube videos already .

  6. Hi guys,

Just got my fac back with a variation for another .22. I am looking for something CHEAP, as it is just for plinking down the range. I need a semi auto, preferably synthetic stock, preferably screw cut but not essential. Dont need a scopr as i have plenty to suit but would take as part of a deal if need be.

MUST BE CHEAP. as i have 4 new slots on my ticket and this 1 is just a toy!!!!

Open to any suggestions of what you guysmight have for sale.

    Thanks

    Edd

have a look at purbeck shooting club web site . .22 125 quid . worth a try

  7. Just wondering what the average time is for a variation, obviously this will be force dependant. Also is there any appeal process is you dont get what you have asked for, especially if you have good reason for larger calibre

mine took less than 2 weeks to process but i have had a few of my mates take up to 6 weeks .(dorset) it all depends on how busy they are and if the land is certified for that calibre rifle. if the land is not certified then expect a long wait as then some one has to view the land and that will take ages. plus it all depends on what your going to use the larger calibre for ( good reason ) is not always look good in there eyes.you might be able to appeal it but i would rather wait than upset your firearms department if they refuse it . i put in a variation for a larger calibre and had no trouble at all . good luck tho hope it goes well

  8. No perhaps its the quality of the brass, some cases you have to reduce the load by 10% because of that, what calibre you reloading, arm yourself with as much info as you can, reloading data manuals etc, read, read and re read, is there anyone else you know who reloads, pick their brains, it all helps.

yea got a few reloads given to me already , using different cases . reloading in 22.250 . but at 10 quid a box for prvi that my relfect on a single use of the case .but thanks any way
