  1. My decision on this was to leave it.

I wondered how I would feel if someone shot all day long out the back of my house.

    Probably not very happy.

The Farmer understood and equally doesn,t need the aggro, or bad public relations.

  2. When you go decoying its more or less obvious what you take, gun, decoys, net, poles etc.

What other things do you take?

I take 2 carrier bags. 1 for cartridge cases and one spare.

Small roll of green garden twine.Ties down hide, game carrier for pigeons etc.

  3. This is a "no contest" question.

A 20 bore is more suitable for shooting decoyed wood pigeons than a .410.

Is there some reason that you don,t want to consider a 12 bore?

I had my first single barrel 12 bore at 11 years of age and my first double at 14.

A good fitting gun, with a recoil pad if necessary, is quite comfortable for a young person to use.

Other reasons include, the gun will probably be cheaper to buy and the cartridges definitely will be.

  4. How do you cope with shooting in relatively built-up areas?

On the farm that I shoot, most of the fields are at least half a mile from the nearest houses.

However, there are two of the fields that have houses up two sides, are rectangular and are only about 20 acres.

Both have been drilled and are being visited steadily by pigeons.

I can "legally" shoot on both of these fields, but I could cause quite a bit of noise disturbance to the local inhabitants.

The farmer has a "banger" on the fields at present, going off at about 20 minute intervals.

    What would you do?

  5. I need to buy some new decoys.

As posted elsewhere, I have asked for any good Kent Gun Shops with a fair variety, but I have had no response.

I prefer to see what I am buying before I buy it.

Does anyone have any good catalogue recommendations for a good range of decoys and camo nets etc.

Also, I am looking at the advert for the Pigeon Magnet "Pecker" in March,s Sporting Gun, can anyone else work out what the price is?

Anyone had any experience of these?

Any help, as always, would be appreciated.

  6. I was browsing on this forum earlier and read a post, I think from Deako, asking for comments on the new Pigeon Magnet Pecker.

I am sure there was a response from lazza.

I was going to reply, but when I returned to the topic to check something, the whole thing seemed to have disappeared.

Now, I don,t need a lot of help to be convinced I,m going senile, but someone  else please tell me they saw this too.    :D

  7. lazza, that does sound expensive at £58, is it electrical, or just rocking on a spring loaded peg?

I bought my rotary pigeon device from Pinewood Sporting Products and they also sell flock coated decoys.

Has any one seen or tried these?

I am always on the lookout for new decoy ideas, but I think we have to be careful, that its the pigeons that get caught and not us.

It is a great idea for people to post their experiences, good or bad, regarding products, it helps all of us.

  8. The problem with being new to this forum is that you tend to resurrect points that have been discussed before.

    I apologise in advance.

I still have the standard ex Army type green camoflage netting.

I,ve looked at the ReatTree products, but wonder if they are too "brown" for our foliage background, which most of the year is green.

Also, they seem to be a close netting, is this a probem on windy days?

The major attraction to me is their light weight.

Has anyone found the foregoing comments a problem?

  9. As a new member I have just been reading  all the  forums.

Its a very good site and the first dedicated to pigeon shooting I have found.

I have been shooting since my early teens, mostly "rough" shooting, with some periods of game syndicate membership also.

I retired at 50 and spend my time travelling, fishing or shooting (mostly pigeons).

I look forward to participating on the forums.
