  1. Hiya Guys, I am after a pair of Zeis Victory 10 x 45 T* RF rangefinder bino's. Where is the best/cheapest place to get them from? If you have or know of some second hand ones in great condition, I would also consider second hand too. Thanks Guys.
  2. I want the synthetic stock as I presume it will be a lot less prone to scratches and bruises. It will also be a bit more weather resistant, Obvously the wood looks a lot better and if I had oodles of money I would buy wood, but I aint, so sythetic it is.
  3. I am really torn guys, whilst I await the result of my FAC application I am looking at as many reviews as possible and every day I change my mind. My head tells me to buy a CZ, but my heart says a Sako Quad. My probloem is that Iam a bit of a gun tart. I wanted an air rifle so I bought a Daystate Airwolf MVT because it was one of the top air guns around, now I need more range so I apply for an FAC. So now I am being drawn toward the Sako Quad and the Anschutz. I think I need to start thinking with my wallet a bit more and go for the CZ. I have a few weeks to go yet before I can buy my first FAC so I have to come around to the idea of buying the CZ I think. I will let you know.
  4. What are the optics like on the Bushnell gear, obviously they are not going to be in the same league as the Leica or swarovski, but are they clear and bright or are they pants??? These binos are only 1/3 the price of the Geovids so if they have decent optics they could be a great alternative to the Geovids without having to add them to the mortgage.
  5. Guys, I have been doing a bit of digging around and found these, they are for sale in the USA already and they are about £600 but appear to the same sort of thing as Geovids without the £1600 price tag.... Obviously someone is about to say......."You get what you pay for". And usually I would agree, but can anyone tell me, are these any good??? Busnell Fusion 1600 ARC Rangefinder Binos
  6. Hiya Guys, I could do with a little guidance from you guys please, I am looking at getting some binoculars and a range finder to help me accurately assess ranges when stalking. I am looking currently looking at Swarovski, zeis, leica and leupold, and I am not sure which one to go for, In addition I am also looking to get a range finder and am interested in the Leica Geovids which offer top notch binos with a range finder built in. I am not sure whether the Leicas would be a good buy or whether I would do better buying separate binos and range finder. Can you offer your opinions on separate or all in one solutions to my quandry and different manufacturers to look at for the best options please? Thanks guys.
  7. Can you recommend a make and model, I would prefer a synthetic one as it will be out in all weathers and its gonna be a tool and not an ornament.
  8. Do the synthetics scratch then, how did you manage that, barbed wire? I thought the whole idea of synthetic was to make them a little more rugged and robust and scratch resistant than wood. Have you used the baretta? what majkes them so good. If the synthetics scratch easily would I just be better off having a cheap wooden gun instead? Also, do you think I should go auto or o/u if I intend to do a bit of clay shooting as well as decoying?
  9. Hiya Guys, I have just received my coterminous shotgun/FAC license and I think I have deceided on the rabbiting gun I am going to get and now I need to make a decision about the pigeon decoying gun. If I was just going to use it for decoying I would certainly opt for an auto, however I expect i will also be going to Kibworth and do a bit of clay shooting as well so I am being pulled towards an over and under instead. Eitehr way my choice will be a synthetic model as I dont want to have to worry about scratching the gun, it will be a tool and not an ornament, so can you give me your opinions please on the best gun for me. The guns I have been looking at as below. Browning Synthetic Over and Under Hatsan Escort Over and Under Hatsan Escort Auto Baretta Urika Please post your opinions, I am a noobie and will welcome all advice.
  10. Guys, I am really grateful for all your suggestions, I think I am coming down on the side of the CZ or Sako. I would go for the Anschutz if it had a model in synthetic but unfortunately they dont seem to do a synthetic model. Oh Well. I am going to go to a large gun shop and handle as many as possible to make the final decision.
  11. These look like a nice gun and I have never seen them before, do they come with synthetic stock though, I only want synthetic.
  12. Ok, your right bro, I am all over the place, I admitted at the top of this thread that I have read a lot and looked at a few rifles in the flesh but I wanted to get the low down from guys like you with a lot more experience. My ideal choice would be an Anschutz, purely on pedigree, but I am put off as they do not appear to sell a synthetic stock in .17hmr, Savage is as I have already been told, a less than great gun, and CZ appears to be loved by the masses, other than the trigger which can be recified with a trigger jobby from Rimfire Magic. I remember another issue now with the CZ's now, only a minor issue though, is the barrel on the heavy barrelled synthetic "Style Model" a floating barrel ? I am coming to the conclusion that the CZ is the way I am going to have to go, Can anyone give me an acurate honest opinion on the Sako Quad please. I understand that they do a Synthetic with a heavy barrel, what are they like, I have never seen one in the flesh?
  13. I was hoping someone was going to mention the Savage range of guns, I looked at these at Garlands and the only thing I didnt like about them was the trigger. The accutrigger seemed a bit uncomfortable to me and I really didnt like it, other than that, the savage ticks all the boxes. Can you get a trigger job done on it to get rid of the accutrigger
  14. I take on board what your saying, but I have shot rimfire with my dad and brother for a few years now and have a good idea of the sort of things I like with my dads guns, I am just finding it hard to tick all the boxes that I have. I like the look of the CZ's, the only problem with them really is that they have a ropey trigger mechanism, also through years of experience with air rifles I spent a lot of money on cheaper less accurate guns when I now wish I had just saved up for longer and bought the Daystate airwolf to start with. I would prefer the buy the best I can afford first time instead of wishing I had bought something better all the time and eventually getting it 10 years later having spent double on not so good rifles.
  15. Hiya Guys, I am after my first .17hmr rifle and after looking around I am totally confused, so I thought I would do a post on here and ask you guys with more knowledge for a little advice. The rifle must be in .17hmr and the rest of the criteria the rifle should match are as below. 1. Synthetic Stock. 2. Varmint/Heavy Barrel. 3. Good reputation for accuracy. 4. Stainless Steel Barrel if possible. 5. Carbine if possible. 6. At least 4 shot with magazine. I will spend up to £1000 for the right gun with scope and sound mod, so what do you think I should get??? Please feel free to add your ideas.
  16. Hiya Guys, Can anyone here recommend somewhere in the UK, Europe or elsewhere in the world where I can go hunting wild boar. I do not want to go on a canned hunt where it is set up and you get to execute a pig at close range, I would like to go on a real hunt in real woodlands aty a reasonable cost. Any Ideas
  17. Guys, I am very grateful for your info and advice. I have looked on the guntrader and found a shed load of the lanber sporters and i think that is what I will be getting. Cheers Guys.
  18. Hiya Guys, I have just applied for my shotgun certificate/FAC coterminous. I had a SGC many years ago, but I let it expire as I went to live and work in the city and had no need for it. I have now moved back into the countryside and have 200acres of land to shoot on which is overun with pigeons on the rapeseed. I am looking for a gun to use with the decoys and need a little help with choice. I occasionally want to go clayshooting aswell. I am not sure if I would be better off with a semi auto or whether to go for an O/U. I have a budget of £500 max. What do you guys think??? .
  19. I went out last night with the 2 small cr123 batteries that came with it, and I was out for about 3-4 hours. Obviously the torch wasn't on all the time but the torch was as good when I started as when it finished. The torch will take 2 x cr123 or 1 x 18650 batteries so I have bought 4 18650 batteries and a charger off of ebay. The 4 batteries and charger cost me about £20 delivered. Here are the links to them on e-bay. Batteries Charger These on e-bay are the 3000amh ones too not the 2400amh ones sothem should last longer.
  20. I have had a lot of interest in this set up so I will post the info here instead of keep responding to P.M's. To start with, the set up doesn't only look good, it works fantastic too. The torch is rated as 500m but in reality I would say that it provides a good usable boom to shoot with up to 250-300m. The torch has 5 beam settings, they are. High Power..........250-300m Usable beam. Medium Power.....50-100m Usable beam. Low Power..........Only good for close up work really. Strobe................This is the flashing on and off at irregular rates of the high power beam. Off......................Obvious When mounted using the mounts I have the scope reticule is exactly in the center of the torch beam. I used this set up last night and I bagged another 2 rabbits with it. You can also get a pressure switch to attach to it as I have in the pictures. http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/jetbeam/jetbeam-rrt1.html The torch is not cheap but it is fantastic...........£109........or £70 from a power seller on E-bay. The pressure switch is £25 from the same place as the torch (Flashaholics), however I got a deal out of him and paid £115 for the torch and preassure switch. The torch mount will fit either 25mm or 30mm scope barrels and was £30. I got the mount from Mark Knibbs at the country store shustoke. He is a really nice guy and even fitted it for me. I am sure he would post it out for you if you ask him. You can contact him here >>>> Tel: 01675-481 006 http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/jetbeam/jetbeam-rrt1.html
  21. Hiya Guys, After my Clulite debacle I have managed to source an awesome torch with the money I was refunded from the Clullite Supreme. It is the Jetbeam Raptor I and its truly awesome.....It claims to have a 500m Beam !!!!! However in reality it is 250-300m useable beam. Check this link out >>> Jetbeam Raptor RRTI You can also get the tactical pressure pad for this torch as well and I got the mount from Mark Knibbs's country store at Shustoke. What do you think of it guys ?
  22. Hiya Mate, Thanks for the intel, Does this mount the torch on the barrel or the scope, also would it give me enough room to fit a 50mm faced torch on a 50mm scope???
  23. I have already looked at that one mate, the problem is, How would I attach that to my torch, the loop goes around the scope, but how does the rest of it attack to my torch???
  24. I have a Daystate Air wolf with MTC scopes and the lense on the front of the scope is 50mm. I have just purchased a Jetbeam Raptor torch as in the diagram below. I intended to use a Clulite mount to attach it, like in the diagram below. Unfortunately Clulite are refusing to sell me a bracket without the light (Which is a pants light as I have already purchased one of these lights and returned it as it didn't work in cold weather) Therefore can any of you guys assist me in locating a suitable bracket to attack a standard 1" torch body with a 55mm torch head to a scope with a 30mm barrel 50mm objective lense. Your help would be very very appreciated. Alternatively if you have a Clulite and want to sell me the bracket please get in touch.... Cash Waiting. Whilst the Clulite Masterlite Torch is very very poor in cold weather, the bracket is great and will be great with a good torch in it. Please P.M me here or contact me via email.
  25. Hiya Guys, I have just sent my Ledray GL4 scope mounted lamp back to the supplier as I think it was pretty useless. They are supposed to be rated to give a beam to 120 meters. (Yeah Right) Let me tell you this, I paced it out last night and the beam was poor/ok to 40 yards. after that it was useless. I have just been looking at this instead; Clulite Masterlite Supreme. Are they any good? They are supposed to be good to 200m....... Lets hope so. Please let me know what you think if you have seen one working.
