  1. It is a 900 series, in December 14,when the bottom barrel was selected it misfired on the bottom barrel and double discharged when the top barrel selected it was returned to Highland outdoor importers via the dealer, they said broken firing pin was the cause of the misfire and that cured the misfire, and the trigger was sticking? they replaced the inertia block ,the DD continues they say that they have NEVER heard of this happening on a single trigger gun even though 4 people have tried the gun and had the same thing happen. They say it is user error.
  2. Hi Folks Turkish built Webley and Scott 2 years old double discharges with one pull on the trigger,[ Fan Firing] ? this occurs ever 20 or so shots. It was returned to the dealer who returned it to Highland Outdoor sports importers, they said they replaced a broken firing pin , this did not solve the double discharge problem, took it back to the dealer and he tried it and it double fired, when questioned about it he said he kept his finger on the trigger!!! It has been returned to the importers 4 times now and they say there is no fault, but they are prepared to stiffen up the trigger pull to try to solve the problem, it is at 5 lb at the moment. This poor service to say the least ,it has supposed to have a three year warranty which is probably worthless if it is not repairable. So the question is, anyone out there had this problem and did they get in resolved if so with who ?
  3. Hi Guys ,2 fields of rape that has failed to grow has been drilled today with linseed, any one know if ,and at what stages will pigeons attack it? Regards Quadimodo
  4. Hi Folks, I too have in the past wasted much time and effort with the forestry commission also in lincolnshire,I was in the process of looking round some 190 ha over a week only to find several guys roost shooting ,when asked if they were the out going shoot they said no, they just shot it when and where they liked! when I asked the forestry com. about this the said that if we found anyone doing this after I took the lease ,the police should be told as they could not be held responsible for unauthorised shooting! By shear chance I found the previous tenant who had the same problems, the police did not want to know, the forestry did not want to know,so he kick up all hell with forestry com. his lease was cancelled and he got his money back. You should be aware of all the restrictions they put on you ,they can include horrendous insurance policy terms, possibly no shooting of deer or woodcock ,public rights of ways, warning signage to be put in place and taken down on shoot days any horse owners in the area to be asked for their permission to shoot any woodland that is near to their land ,and if they refuse permission to shoot you will not be able to shoot! I know shooting can be hard to find some times ,but the way I got all my game shooting over the past 30 years was by placing a small advert in a county wide ,weekly press,it has always worked for me,it could surprise you what is really out there for not a lot of money ,the shoot I have now is 400 acre I have had it 6 years its a mixed farm, 4 guns ,duck, all game in season, pigeons rabbits all year. £400 per year each, and they even leave us half an acre of maize and an acre of mustard. All this from a well worded advert. Forget the forestry, not worth the hassle good luck !,Quadimodo
  5. Many thanks for your replies ,we can now start to work on a budget for this coming season. Regards quadimodo.
  6. Hi folks, has anyone got prices yet for 8 weeks old pheasant poults for the coming season? Regards Quadimodo.
  7. Hi folks, over the last 5 decades I have owned 7 black labs, I have 3 at this moment in time, 2 are replacements for Jess who I retired 10 years ago aged 12,so she is in her 22 year,I had her to the vet yesterday for a check over,he said she has cataracts , and arthritis in the front leg joints, and her general condition is good. Over the years my dogs past away at around 14years old,so at nearly 22 is this unusual for a working dog to reach these sort of ages? Regards Quadimodo.
  8. Thanks guys, for your comments, Kent ,your test with steel at 30 yards give cause for thought. In all my 55 years shooting I cannot remember finding more than 9 pellets in a mallard shot with both lead and now non toxic, although more birds were not killed outright when non toxic came into use. Most were killed at 25_40 yards 30 gram, winchester chasse 6 shot, and now impact 30 gram 6 shot, inland shooting.
  9. Hi guys, our shoot captain always gives a safety talk before the shooting begins, and asks us to respect the quarry ,shooting it at a not too close range. So on plucking a mallard today I find 51, no.6 size non toxic pellets in the breast area alone,we all use 12 gauge guns, is it possible to calculate the height that this bird would have been when it was shot?
  10. Hi Guys, thanks for your replies, a bit more info on the subject, there was some pushing and shoving on the road with the neighbour ,who had some previous form, his wife came out and said she had phoned for the police, they then walked away from each other, the friend returned home picked up his car keys and went out ,left the weapon propped up in the kitchen,it could be seen from 2 windows.Plod arrived about an hour later no one at home ,sees gun in kitchen calls in the armed response brigade,an hour later friend arrives home and was arrested for alleged assault and the offence of leaving a shotgun unsecured, all his guns removed.4 hours later released after excepting a caution but no charges given. He did not realise the consequences of excepting a caution, which if I remember is a guilty plea. He excepts the foolishness of his actions and believes he can reapply in the future for a SC.Most likely the law was correct, just goes to show how a minor/major thing can turn out.
  11. Thanks guys for the info, to bed wards 1966, he came home after rat shooting with a 410,on land adjoining the house,a distant neighbor came to see him about a previous matter, nothing to do with shooting, put the gun in kitchen ,escorted him of the property , police called ,gun still in kitchen, need I say more? oh well when your 70 one can do stupid things!
  12. Hi Guys, A friend has had his FAC, and SC revoked after accepting a caution from the police,he has disposed of his guns,Can he shoot with a SC owner with a gun loaned to him by a SC holder? Or as I think not allowed to shoot having been banned from owning guns.

  14. Hi Guys, just rang the gunsmith regarding the blueing on the £7,500 3 months old AYA, he said it can happen in a short time, and the blueing is not as good as on a new london gun! I said my well used 20 year old AYA and my 12 year old Beretta do not show any signs of wear on the blueing. He then said, well they are selling so many that AYA are not doing the job properly. Well folks AYA should be ashamed of themselves if this is the case. Anyhow the outcome of this is that if I can get the barrels to them they will re blue them.120 mile round trip twice, thanks a bundle. My thoughts are if it is known that there is a problem, surely owners of these guns should be informed. Regards Quadi
  15. WINCHESTER 9410 , They where introduced in UK about 8 years ago .A friend and I saw one on the Browning stand at the game fair,we had great difficulty in purchasing one each, Crawfords of S****horpe were very good and we received them about 10 days after ordering. Winchester, I believe went out of business a short time later. Pete has used his on clays, rabbits, pigeons and game ,with very good results As for mine, well I test fired it at returned it to its box,and into the cabinet, it really is a lovely piece of kit. They have increased in value and I have seen used ones at more than double the price we paid. I prefer to use my 28 bore so I will not use mine ,however we are pushing 3 score and 10 so old age and infirmity is creeping on and one day both mine and Pete's will be sold ,so one day I hope you find one. Regards Quadimodo.
