  1. Thanks, Ill have a good look at what they all have as im sure they have tried many different rifles before selecting their favorite. There are 3 club rifles so that is somewhere to start, see how I get on with those. Jon
  2. Hi Have just joined a club that shoots exclusively 7.62 with iron sights and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to what the best set up would be. Bolt action or straight pull. They all have their favorites but some unbias advise would be welcome. I quite like the Ruger M77. Jon

Cheap Automatic clay trap wanted, as long as it throws I'm not concerned with the aesthetics of it. East Lincolnshire.

    SS 16 bore

Hi Does anyone have one of these hidden in a loft somehwere; 16 bore double barrelled SS Belgian shotgun. By H.G.Cordds. Would love to hear from you if you do. I got mine at auction for £15 with broken stock but would like a pair. Regards Jon
  6. I think you are quite right, the barrels are stamped Bremerhaven but the action is stamped as being proofed in liege Belgium.
  7. Jay I looked into this when I got my CZ Hornet and it seems to me that there is only a slight increase in the amount of powder you can get in the cartridge (see pic) and so didnt seem worth the effort of forming my own brass etc. Plus if you pack the case with as much powder as you can you get higher pressures and velocity but then also maybe extra wear on the gun. And if you run out of ammo you cant pop to your local RFD to pick up some rounds. Just my thoughts. I have a CZ527 which is great and I load my own. Jon

  9. Freddy Thank you for your reply, I have ordered some Caskamite and will give it a go as per your instructions when I get back and will post my efforts. Regards
  10. Hey Maybe I wont ever know, there are some proof stamps I would like to find out about, they are an X and a P with a star above, I believe they refer to the proof inspector at the time and give you a window of production. Ive attached the first three pics, stock is completely shot, I have repaied it but that didnt work, just not enough wood to keep it together, I did get about 50 cartridges through it at the clay club and got on quite well with it so need to sort something. Thanks again notsosureshot and blackpowder Jon some more
  11. Thanks Blackpowder, it was proofed in Liège Proof House, Belgium. Stamped on the barrels is Bremerhaven so wouldn't be in your book. I've found out that H Cordes company were involved In producing whaling guns and line throwing guns, the only other thing i can find out is that they were a premier artillery maker of Germania, H.G. Cordes of Wesermünde.
  12. Hey, I bought a SS 16 bore shotgun by H G Cordes. Anyone know anything about the company? Stock was broken when I bought it from the auction at the good price of £5. I fixed the stock and went clay shooting with it. Got on really well with it and the the stock broke again. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? Or will this cost too much? I have tried to find a similar gun on the net with a broken action that I can steal the stock off but no luck there. The other option is if I cut off the first 6 inches of the stock and make a new piece myself and stick it on but that will probably look pants. Regards Jon
  13. AR 15 type stock for the 10 22 wanted doesnt need to be in perfect condition, scratches dont really bother me as its for mini rifle Needs to be full pistol grip, sliding stock if possible Thanks
  14. Does anyone know where I can get hold of an AR style stock for the 10 22? Midway have some choate ones for £80 but not in stock until 9th April and then a week or so for delivery. Thanks Jon
  15. I have bought some Sierra 40 Hornet SP which are very short and will fit in my mag without much trouble. If these shoot well I'll stick to these, I have sorted the bolt problem. The bolt is fractionally smaller than the bolt hole, so there is a fraction of movement side to side in it, but if u hold the bolt handle with a finger on the handle shaft it feeds ok. What was happening was the bolt was moving sideways rather than forward and getting stuck.
  16. Thanks for the info, I applied for the hornet as a 223 was a bit too much power for what I needed it for, 150 yard rabbit and fox. I will have a look for a dummy follower as I don't mind it being a single shot, and the lighter bullets will have a flatter trajectory anyway, How would I know if the bullet was on the lands or too close? Just use the COL as stated for the bullet? Thanks again
  17. I have just bought a new cz 527 in 22 hornet, but I am having a few problems, (1) rounds will not cycle from the magazine, only way I gan get this to work is to push the bolt from the back without using the bolt handle. (2) I have started to reload my own and I am having trouble with the overall cartridge length, I have some factory 35 grain ammo which fits in the mag but with the other bullets I have bought I have to seat them very deep to get them to fit into the mag, this results in the bullet being seated after it starts to narrow, the brass gets squeezed round the bullet and my concern is excess pressure. Bullets I am trying are 40 grain siera blitzking, 45 grain sp, 55 grain fmj. Has anyone modified the mag to take longer rounds? Thanks in advance
  18. Guys, Thanks for the info, I will let him know. All the best Jon
  19. A friend asked me if he could go co terminous with his FAC and his SGC, this I understand is possible. He would also like to add a slot for .17hmr to his FAC and was wondering if he could do this at renewal (included in the renewal price) or if he would also have to pay the £26 variation charge? Thanks in advance
  20. Hi, A very good friend of mine who I take shooting sometimes is thinking of getting his SGC so I dont have to stand with him on shoots and so he can go to the clay ground without me if he wants. He has been banned from having a cabinet at his house (by the other half). Can he have a cabinet in my house next to my cabinet? I will not have access to his and he will not have access to mine as I also have FAC. Question is, can this be done and as he lives in one county and I live in another county, does he apply to my FLO or the one that covers his home address. Many thanks Jonathan
  21. The LEI website says it is under construction?
  22. Hey, On my FAC it states that I can shoot vermin and ground game with the 22lr, does that include phesants on the ground with a suitable backstop? I just wanted to check as ive got many that keep raiding my geese feed and one shotgun cartridge would scare the rest away, as well as scare the horses. Thanks Jon
  23. Dave, Thanks for all the information. All the best Jon
  24. Hi, I have a room which I was thinking about converting into a gun room, there are two small frosted windows, about 10 inches by 40 inches which I could easily put bars across. No one can see into the room. The walls are all brick and the door is a heavy sold wood door. What would I need to do to get this room cleared as a gun room? Metal door frame? Number of 5 point locks needed? If cleared as a gun room would I be able to mount the shotguns on the wall rather than in a gun cabinet as the room would then be a large gun cabinet. Any advice appreciated. Jon
