  1. I do watch pigeon and there feeding patterns and have done for more years than I want to remember, this autumn it's been very mild and when this happens the birds in great numbers feed in the towns and large urban areas stay there as there is a food supply in gardens and parks as people feed them, I feel that this is the norm for this warm spell, I looked at some of the rape I shoot over on Saturday at 09:00 I saw around 100 to 150 sitting in oak trees around the hedge lines, it was very cold, passed again at 11:00 all gone not a bird to be seen, as soon as we get some cold weather get your kit ready as the numbers are here but not in the normal places you would expect to see them or want to see them.

  2. Have been looking for weeks for some idea where the birds are, I live in the Midlands and my work takes me all over the country, yesterday I saw large numbers hanging on the bushes eating the berries, and I stopped and watched them there were hundreds, hope they soon come south. As a matter of interest it was in the S****horpe area.

  3. I am after a good s/hand 17 HMR must have mod fitted and in good working order, cash waiting Midlands if poss but will travel for the right gun at the right price. (17 hmr on my ticket)

  4. I had to sit and wait to tip my lorry Wednesday in Birmingham, it was just after it was getting light I started to see flocks of pigeon flying into the city and I mean FLOCKS there were hundreds flying very low within shotgun range.

So Thurs, I was in High Wycombe around same time again saw loads flying into town, Yesterday Purfleet Kent again loads and loads far more than I have seen all week, so when people say where are all the pigeon my advice is to go look around at dawn, I think there is so much food around in the city's in parks gardens etc. I will keep looking as I am interested to see if this is the normal.

  5. At 14.00 today with my son, we found a flight line over some barley stubble, I stood in a ditch and he stood under a tree 100 meters apart with the wind behind us. The birds were slow to come at first then around 16.30 we shot steady until 18.00.

There was a steady flow of birds and we shot well enough to pick 38 lost a few in the wood behind I could have done a lot better but the sun was for a lot of the time in my eyes (thats my excuse)we had a lot of sport now my first job tomorrow is to breast the birds so we can eat and enjoy them over the next few weeks, might have a nice bottle or two of red tucked away somewhere. Cheers.

  6. Had a few good hours today on winter barley with my son started at 11:00 , put out a roter and they came in to take a look big mistake, shot around 70 but had to go at 14:00.

The damage they do cannot be repaired so keep a look out and hope for more of this wind.

The trigger has been tuned and is amazing to use!! Very light and breaks with no creep what so ever.
