  1. Absolutely gutted that i've missed this. I have been in Germany overseeing a design project for the company and their new Cezar plant expansion, hardly had a chance to breathe since January and tonight was my first chance to get a look on PW for quite some time. I usually have to travel relatively far afield to shoot (most of my permission is in and/or around the Essex area etc as this is where i was based while in the Army, Colchester to be precise). The opportunity to network closer to home and potentially gain new permission along the way would have been most welcome. I'll have my eyes well and truly peeled for the next opportunity here. But, all the same, massive congratulations to all those who have gone for it and been succesful and most of all, enjoy it, this is what our sport is all about. Big Ron.
  2. Welcome mate, im pretty new to this forum myself so your in good company..though im certainly not new to the sport. A very good bunch of people on here so we newcomers are made to feel welcome. Also take heed of Steve_b_wales words...this sport is seriously addictive....i'll promise you once you get your own first gun the floodgates will open and before you know it, you, like me, will be telling the missus to forget having that new cabinet display of fine china as your putting another gun cabinet in its place ...welcome again mate and enjoy.
  3. Cheers lads....feeling welcome already. Thanks Bertie, you can count me in sometime in the near future, without a doubt. Be good to have a crack at the clays with you all. Thanks Rascal...and i know..haha im an obsessive....if i see a new bit of kit i like the look of i starting making pkans to buy it. The amount of excuses i've made to the missus as to why i really "need" that new rifle or new shotty..im losing count. More to come as well , some really nice models coming out of late. Mind you some of the lads on here....wow.....some have collections that make me look like a point blank novice
  4. Niiiice haha. Thats some tree..what did you do just have it extracted from the ground with a tree puller truck and plant it in the living room? Bet the wife had a blue fit. We cant have real tree's anymore as our Springer spaniels get a chronic eye irritaiong off of the needles...makes them look like htey have rings around their eyes.
  5. Fantastic Catch....thats some Skate...nice one. Im also into a spot of Fishing...not so much these days, it tends to take a bit of a backseat to my hunting endeavours. Im into my birds of prey...got 2 Peregrine and a Goshawk. Into my powerlifting...getting more into the idea of competing at it as well but we'll have to see on that front. Do a spot of Photography as well as the fancy takes me, have a half decentish camera, Nikon D300 and a few good lenses...i find this has tended to go hand in hand with my shooting....im as likely to shoot wildelife with a DSLR and lens as much as i will with a rifle and scope or a shotty. Other than that lot my wife and kids tend to sap my available time to a minimum. On the plus side our company works to an annualised hours scheme.....of which mine ran out November 8th so i've been off since then..dont go back now till the 4th January..fully paid so plenty of time to indulge myself between now and then. Lovely.
  6. Just realised i've made a handful of posts on the forums already without actually introducing myself. Names Aaron from the south Coast city of Portsmouth. Been a keen hunter and field sports enthusiast since a relatively early age. Initially using high powered air rifles, then progressing onto rimmies and finally centrefires and shotguns. Thus far the gun cabinets contain: Shotguns: Blaser F3 12G over/under Beretta Urika II 12G Semi Beretta A400 Xplor 12G Semi Rimfire: Browning T-Bolt .17HMR Centrefire: Savage Hunter Seriers-Model 11BTH .223Rem (superb Foxing rifle and one i rate highly) Howa 1500 Thumbhole .243 Win (I absolutely love this rifle) Air-Rifle: Air Arms S510 SL Carbine thumbhole .177 Air Arms TX200 HC mkIII .177 Air Arms Pro Sport .22 Falcon Prairie Light-Hunter bull barrel .177 As you can see i am building quite a collection. I think i have the bad habit of not trading UP or selling on. My wife puts up with it though and however she doesnt know that i have my eye on the Browning X Bolt right now..we shall see. Im a Gravure Printer by trade though only for the last year or so, prior to this i was with the Army. Main shooting interests are hunting though i do occasionally have a crack at the clays. Mostly stick to shooting woodies, rabbit, fox and deer however as with many i'll take the opportunity to shoot anything the owners of my various permissions specify they want dealing with specifically. As ya do. Im pretty keen on my birds of prey as a side interest and currently have two Peregrines..ones pretty seasoned now but the others only a youngun and we also have a Goshawk who's relatively young. I do a spot of powerlifting and have thus far managed to avoid the associated bloated belly Thats me in a rather muscular nutshell. Just thought i'd introduce myself to you, the regulars here..really impressed with the forums, some really knowledgeable people around here and am really looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months etc. Many thanks all Big Ronnie
  7. Loads of options here. I like te Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 4-12 X 50 AO as a couple of the lads have already mentioned. Cracking Little scopes for the money they cost..nice wide objective that sucks in all the available light...good for roost shooting therefore i'd say. Mil-Dot too.......i think you can net yourself the IR version for around that £60 price bracket.
  8. Air Arms Field .177 and .22 in all my rifles..both PCP and Springer. You can lump JSB exacts in with those as well i suppose since they are one and the same. I dont mind the JSB Exact Jumbo/Heavy as well from the .22 Pro Sport of mine. On a different not only had my Air Arms TX200 HC mkIII for 4 weeks and finally have finished modifying it...thus far: AA TX200 HC mkIII .177, MTC Taipan 6-16 X 50 scope, V-Mach Kit/Tuned, Rowan Engineering Custom Alloy trigger unit, Walnut CS800 Thumbhole stock with adjustable butt pad...handles like a dream now..rivals my PCP's with ease. Great hunting rifle..just have to feed a few hundred rounds through it on the range now to settle the tuning work in..bed it in.
  9. Is that a BSA lightning? If so is it one of the older model Lightnings? I'd heard the new ones were made by GAMO Spain and had quality issues? How does yours handle mate? Good spot of shooting by the way I must admit i do love my springers..i've got an Air Arms S510 SL Carbine Thumbhole, Falcon Prairie Light-Hunter bull barrel all in .177 on the PCP front but i still love using my new Air Arms TX200 HC mkIII and 5 month old Pro-Sport..again both in .177. Had them V Mach tuned and they really are a challenge to the best PCP's out there. I'll put a few piccies up later...took the Browning T-Bolt out this morning..gotta love the 17HMR...I can honestly say i prefer it to my old .22 rimmy. Again good shooting mate....enjoy the bunnies mate.
  10. I second that notion mate...great looking bird you have there...bet he is gonna be a real hum dinger once he is at his peak. I've got two Peregrines and a goshawk....the gossie is just over 2 years old now and it astounds me how easily they slip through the tree's the way they do...the timing as they slip between close lying branches is awesome to watch. And as for my peregrines...watching them on the woodies is amazing. When you see them in pursuit you get a feeling for the kinds of maneuverability they are capable of. Astounding. When your boy comes of age and hits his prime mate your in for a real treat.
  11. ****** it...gutted i missed this one. I'd have gone for none of these. My own preference would be for an Air Arms S510 SL Carbine..i have one in .177 cal, with a walnut thumbhole stock, harris bipod and a rather nice MTC Taipan scope and it really does handle like a dream. I've had a Tench regulator fitted which has given me a slightly higher shot count and near on perfect consitency shot to shot. This rifle out handles my old Daystate Huntsman and HW100S by a long shot. My advice if you havent already made the all important purchase would be to get out and try as many models in your price range as you can in your local gunshop and get a feel for the diferent models available. Never buy a gun on someones reccomendation IMO, get out there and find which one fits YOU...your groupings and especially your QUARRY will thank you for it. You may find none of these fit you as an individual (unlikely as they are all corking rifles) but i've bought all of my rifles by trying before buying to get a feel for them in the shoulder. I thus far own: AA S510 SL Carbine .177 AA TX200 HC mkIII, CS800 walnut thumbhole stock, V-Mach tuned .177 (superb as a self contained hunting rifle) AA Pro Sport .22 Falcon Prairie Light-Hunter Bull Barrel .177 Trust me...try before you buy...you may settle for something that you've not shortlisted. Also as mentioned in the post prior to this..never discount a good high quality springer...it'll last a lifetime and is totally self contained. I absolutely love both my TX200 HC mkIII and my pro sport.
  12. Hampshire Constabulary dont appear to be overly concerned. I have a range of DIFFERENT calibers but i also have 2 rifles of the same i.e duplicate. I have a Browning T-Bolt .17HMR (for rolling rabbits mainly) Savage M11 BTH in .223 Rem (my main foxing and small deer/chinese water deer/muntjac rifle, love that thumbhole stock) Howa 1500 .243 (great all rounder) then my duplicate caliber rifles both in .308 Win..a Steyr SSG04-A1 (target only) and a rather nice Browning X-Bolt (deer). I've never had much of a problem to be fair. All the best.
