    I tried one - think it was a "Selkirk".

    Heavy compared with some with a blanket type lining including in the sleeves. Maybe not so good for shooting but thick outer material would be great for beating.

    The large i tried was more like most extra large.

    Hi All

     

    Can you knowledgeable folk tell me if the Remingtons have any cast to the stocks.

    I ask because I have shot right handed action semis no problem off my left shoulder when they have cast shims and there seem to be a lot RH guns at lower prices. Also my dog naturally sits on my left and I don't want him showered with empties!

    Also will the 1100s cycle 65/67mm cartridges?

    This topic has highlighted what is surely a problem for all shooters in this country.

    Due to the many different organisations we have a fragmented lobby against anti-shooters.

    All the organisations have their merits but we need something with the clout of the NRA in America.

    Incidentally, I chose to join NGO because I feel they are as relevant to live quarry shooting as BASC but save me money. Their legal advice is excellent and available 24 hours a day.

    Surely, though, the most important thing is that all of us are insured should the worst happen.

    Once you remove the varnish you will inevitably start to cut into the colour; been there done that.

    And then you will have to try and re-stain it which won't match, so you will have to sand it all off and start again. At which point you will find that the stain will colour end grain areas better than flat grain areas, so it will all look patchy.

    If it was Walnut.....no problem. But Beech......sheesh!!!

    As previously mentioned they are "imitation firearms" and you need good reason to have one in a public place. They must also be a highly visible colour like orange.

    Good reason could be if you have a dog with you for training.

    If you leave it in the car, for instance, you could fall foul of the law if you haven't got a dog with you.

    Dummy launchers are a good alternative as they are not classed as imitation firearms.

    Tyres on new cars are normally harder compounds wearing than same make replacements.

    OE (original equipment) tyres are available as replacements for some models.

    Car manufacturers get premium tyres at cheap prices because the tyre manufacturer hopes you will replace with the same and that's most likely if they have lasted a long time.

    Your new car may have been sitting in a carpark before being sold for longer than the tyres sit on the shelf in the shop so age of new tyre could work either way.

    I use a Select Light.

    Excellent value for less than £1000. Despite less weight it seems to have less recoil than the Lanber Game I used before and seems far better quality.

    I shoot off the left shoulder and the Lanber had lots of cast on but the Select has no cast at all and I seem to shoot just as well - well no worse!

    Thanks very much for the replies.

    I think the main problem is that the salesman knows as little as I do. Pretty poor really as it's a Suzuki dealership although has not got a workshop at that site.

    I have agreed to see the car again when it's been in the workshop but I doubt anything wrong with it other than lack of familiarity.

    PS. On late cars can you get both the rear seat base and backrest out so you get a flat floor in the back? If so, how?

    Excuse my ignorance.

    I went to have a look at a Jimny with the push button drive selection but could not get the 4 wheel drive indicator light to come on.

    It would come on for a fraction of a second as you turned the ignition off but that was all. The dealer seemed to know little about the operation and said " no problem - its still under warranty". Nice motor, nice price so can anyone tell me when the light should come on.

    I understand you should be able to select 4 wheel drive high on the move but have to stop to change into low range.

    Hoping someone can put me straight.

    Regarding Kent not issuing Section 7s; has anyone contacted BASC, NGO etc. about this as Kent police are effectively telling you to break the law.

    As has been previously said you can't buy cartridges and may have your gun confiscated as you cannot prove legal entitlement without your certificate.

    Write to your MP requesting they raise the the matter with the Home Secretary. I understand the request cannot be ignored.

    I use a Winchester Select Light mainly for walked up and rough shooting and find the recoil acceptable using 30 or 32g loads. I have put 50x28g through it in an hour and survived without my shoulder matching the barrels.

    It was suggested by a CPSA instructor that this could be due to the lack of cast on the gun - the more cast, the more kick. A Beretta Ultralight I tried kicked badly but did have a lot of cast like most Italian guns.
