  1. Had a similar call on Saturday evening. Someone had been using my card in the USA, there were several cancelled transactions for between £2 and £15. Apparently, the fraudsters put through a few small transactions to check that the card works before using it properly. Luckily, the unusual spending pattern was picked up by the card provider and the cards have been cancelled :good:

  2. Many thanks to Major Disorder for doing the organising, and putting on a fantastic evenings shooting :good: :good: There was plenty to shoot at and I managed to get through just over 150 cartridges.

Well done to Bakerboy and PhilR for staying awake throughout the evening, despite their great age

Already looking forward to the next one :good:

  3. I'm on my second pairs of Le Chameau, the first were neoprene lined with adjustable calf buckle which sometime were too hot. My current pair are leather lined with full length zip and adjustable calf and don't make my feet too hot. The good thing about this pair is that they come in various calf sizes, the first pair I tried on were 43cm and were way too big around the calf this pair are much better and are size 41cm.

If there's anything very mucky to do on the shoot I let ColinF above do it in his Seelands :lol::yes:

They are wellies, not slippers, a bit of muck won't hurt them :o :no:

  4. I have KL71's on my Toyota. They are not quite as aggressive as the Insa Turbo Special Track, but they are very good off road and surprisingly good on road. There is also very Little road noise and they wear fairly well. This is the second truck I have had them on and I would definitely recommend them. :good:

  5. I shoot one and I'm very impressed with it. Mine is a Sako 75, which I had re-barrelled by Chris at UK Gunworks with a Shilen match barrel. As you would expect it's very accurate. I only use 39gr bullets and I am getting about 3,800 fps, which makes it very flat shooting. I have shot quite a few foxes with it and the results have always been very conclusive.

I can't comment on factory ammo, as I have always reloaded for it.

  6. I don't think that there is much choice in 40 grain factory ammo. Hornady do one in their Varmint Express range, but they won't be very cheap.

Just out of interest, why have you decided on 40 grain? In my experience, 50 or 55 grain bullets work much better in 223, with 50 grain Nosler BT's being my personal preference.

If you want to keep the costs down, you should consider reloading, especially if you will be using a lot of bullets.

  7. just got a reflex t8 mod , wondering if anyone has any views on using one of these mod`s

or has anyone used one and what are they like

i got mine for a decent price

    thanks again

I have one on my 223, a bit bulky but does a good job. They are prone to rusting from the inside out so make sure that you dry it properly before you put it away and give the inside a good spray with WD40 regularly. The one I have is 7 or 8 years old and is still going strong

  8. I'm sure you old codgers can shoot together - me and huffhuff won't mind and there's always Stealthy to come off the reserves bench...

Hmmm. Terry it looks like your Herts mates are trying to ditch you and bring in a young ringer :sly: .

Agreed Terry is an old codger, but I'll have a whole 8 days left before I can assume that mantle  :o and ColinF is almost still a junior at 40  .

Sounds like it's going to be more like care in the community than clay shooting :lol:

  9. does anybody use a hoover attachment when they brush their dog  ?? i,ve seen one used but dont know were to buy one

    anyone any ideas

    shaun

    You mean like this? :hmm:

It's not a hoover attachment, but we use a brush called a Furminator, which is much better than a standard brush. They are about £45 in the shops, but you can get them for around £20 from Amazon :good:

  10. Its true what davyo says!!

I paid an accountant for coming up to 16 years.

To be honest, I am not clued up at all with tax/personal/business etc etc. The Revenue people examined my accounts (they can go back a hell of a lot of years). Took about 2 years to sort it out. Cut a long story short, I ended up paying the accountant £4000 for doing the investigation and ended up paying the Revenue £25000. That was after trusting my accountant all those years..........all I did was pay my tax every year on the dot. You sign your name at the bottom of the page.......Its all down to you!!.....make sure you trust him/her!!

Davyo is right, the responsibility for the correctness of the tax return is the tax payers, even if they employ someone else to put the return together.

However, if the accountant has made a mistake, which leads to you paying more tax, interest and penalties, they have been negligent. You should be able to sue them, or claim on their Professional Indemity insurance for all the additional costs you have incurred, apart from the extra tax, because you would have paid it any way if the return was correct.

On the other hand, if you have not disclosed full details of your income, expenses or other relevant information, and this has led to an investigation by HMRC, then that is your fault and the accountant is not to blame.

By the end of the investigation, it should have been clear what the problem was and if your accountant had a case to answer.
