  1. My shoot is on a farm with a large commercial grain store so I get everything free. I have tried every thing on the pheasants wheat, barley, oats, rape seed and wheat works if all of the above is mixed they will pick past all else apart from wheat. The duck ponds get the other plus peas and beans which they love, but even they leave the oats !
  2. Ive got tailing for free if you want it.
  3. Hello All I pick up a lot down south 20/30 days a season but this year I have been asked to help on a grouse moor a customer of mine owns. Now I have shot on a moor twice in my life but never picked up on one and my customer knows nothing of picking up just looks for the sloe gin after a drive not what the dogs are doing. Does anyone have any advice/useful tips. cheers
  4. The purpose of the zig zag was to let them have something to move down more freely but not be able to see all the way down it ? I found that in my smaller kale crops from last year it smothered out the weeds and is still holding birds now but am I brave/stupid enough to try a much larger block and do all shoots just have to have maze in there plan.
  5. Yes i know that Tiny Tim it's more a question of what hold and drives better with the small advantage that the kale cover will last two years which the farm contractor likes !
  6. I could, do you mean across the 25 or the length. I was thinking of cutting a 1 meter zig zag down the length ?
  7. Quick question chaps. I have a cover that is 250 meters x 25 can be a little wet in winter and heavy soil. We drilled maze in it last year but due to weeds it did not take well not all of it. My question is as I am a fan of kale mixes (bright seeds "boom" ) would a kale cover 250x25 work or is it to large, may seam a silly question but I have never seen a large kale cover only maze. I might say we have had great success with our other kale but they are a lot smaller and I can only broadcast the kale.
  8. How high do we all think hoppers should be for Partridge with pan feeder/spiral or wright feeders as I have all three.
  9. Thanks Guys, they are doing really well at the moment ! so fingers crossed.
  10. Hello When do you all start to get your poults onto wheat from pellets. I ask because I would like to get mine on wheat as soon as poss as my wheat is free and pellets are not, my birds are 8 weeks and very healthy, I know not yet but when do you all think 12/14/16 weeks ? I would appreciate your opinions.
  11. Hi All I work on a farm that has a large grain store and we have a lot of cleanings from it that are perfectly good for ducks and pheasants. Can be anything it it from, oats, barley, wheat, peas, beans and rape. I have about ten ton at the moment that I need to get rid of. PM me if your interested.

  14. Hello I work on a farm in Buckinghamshire and we have a large grain store and drier. We get a lot of throw away wheat, barley, oats, and all sorts really which all goes in a seconds bin and burnt but I would like to get rid of it. My question is does anybody locally want it, it would have to be picked up by you and I would just bucket it into your pick up or trailer, I think it would be ideal for a flight pond as it can have beans and peas in it from time to time. What do you think ?
