  1. Hi, we are thinking of putting a few extra birds down this year but think that the pens are perobebly at there maximum or near to. i was wondering if we could use the pens twice. to release a only few in say late July so the pens don't get ruined and then again when we normally do at the beginning of September allowing just over a month or so for recovery time Any thoughts would be useful cheers mike
  2. Hi I was wandering if anyone has had any experience with cover drilled in August or early September and had good results. We have strict places we can have our cover this year, but once the wheat is off we can have them where ever we want over winter. There seems to be a couple of mixes on the bostons seeds website containing brassicas and fodder radish but I don't want them to be 3" off the ground in November and be flat in December. Any help would be greatly appreciated Mike

  5. Hi This will be the first season releasing pheasants, we are planning to release 80 in partridge pens, I know people say there's no point in releasing that many but A.) we don't shoot many only a couple of brace a day B.) we have neighbours that release birds and don't want to be seen as poaching there's I was wandering if anyone could give me any tips eg Feed (in the pen and out) Will I need grit Size of pen and how many will fit in Best time of year to release Thanks for any advice

  12. hi over the last 3 years i have been trying to increase the number of birds on my land by using cover strips, feeders, habitat improvements and predator control its only small (140 acres) and has no where suitable to put birds down! i am really paranoid i could be upsetting my neighbours, we shoot maximum 30 birds per year so not too many the idea is to increase the wild population especially grey partridge (although we dont shoot them), its become a brilliant hobby and this year i'm seeing great results but i don't want my neighbours thinking i'm poaching there birds don't get me wrong im under no illusion and no full well that there will be a percentage of birds that will come on to my land and that we will shoot but i can also see the results of the time and money we put in too. i would really appreciated what you guys think and what you think i should be doing cheers mike
