The stock has been reduced to 12.75", probably for a wife or son and left in the cabinet for about 50 years. The balance of the gun is still ok and has a good swing to the pick up. Full case hardening, unmarked wood , clean barrels choked half and full. Some one in the family must deserve this gun. Have it in your cabinet for visitors. AYA yeoman £95 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Very Good Condition Harpenden, Hertfordshire Side by Side, 1/2 Choke, Full Choke, 28" barrels Description The entry level boxlock which in later years was known as the Yeoman was one of the guns that the reputation of AYA was established. In an era that other firms were cutting corners in the production standards of their cheaper guns to fulfil orders to a price point, AYA wouldn't budge on their build quality and although lacking fancy engraving and walnut, are renowned for reliability and durability. This example is an earlier model from 1964, 28"€ barrels with game ½ and full chokes under a concave rib with a 14.5 lop on an English shaped stock and splinter fore-end. All pretty standard although this gun has more prominent grain than normal and a lightened colouring. I have however about twenty example of the same model with different barrels, stocks and chokes to ensure a perfect fit or make a composed pair to suit individual shooting requirements. wallis bros. game model £95 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Average Condition Harpenden, Hertfordshire Side by Side, -, -, 28" barrels Description This is a classic English Boxlock ejector made by Wallis Bros & Skempstons Ltd of Lincoln. If you want a piece of English gunmaking history in your cabinet without breaking the bank this early century ejector could be for you. It is unrestored and would benefit from some stock restoration as it has a few dinks and marks and the chequering is worn and could be re-chased. The good news is the action is crisp, ejectors strong and the barrels are in great condition and still hold a proof to .726 on both tubes. It's also quite light for a 12 bore ejector at just over 6 lbs so would make a great walk up gun. If your names Wallis or hail from Lincolnshire buy yourself a project . Or just have something serviceable you don't mind chucking in the back of the land rover. Martin, Alex game model £95 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Average Condition Harpenden, Hertfordshire Side by Side, -, -, 26" barrels Description Alex Martin were a renowned Scottish firearms manufacturer. Started in Paisley in 1837, by the 1930's had branches in Glasgow, Edinburgh , Aberdeen and Stirling as can be seen on the rib of this model dating from about 1935. At this time the firm seemed transfixed on producing lighter guns but rather than decreasing the bore size tried out making 2"€ chambers and many ribless models. By the late 1950's were having their guns made by Browns in Birmingham and the firm was finally bought by John Dicksons of Edinburgh. I can't tell you this gun is one of their special patents but proudly bears the name on both sides of the action as well as along the rib. It has a few very slight marks inside and out but to own a piece of Scottish gunmaking history must be worth the price I'm asking. zamacola game model £95 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Average Condition Harpenden, Hertfordshire Side by Side, 1/2 Choke, Full Choke, 28" barrels Description A good example of this popular gun. A 12 bore side by side boxlock non ejector Zamacola are one of the lesser known of the Basque manufacturers, in the UK at any rate. I have had a home in Spain and these guns are always popular with local hunters. They are known to be robust workhorses and this model called the Jabali (the basque for wild boar) one of their most popular. They are not flashy guns. They were not made for flashy men. The wood is close grained and strong with the only indication of the workmanship shown in the heavily scrolled fences, bolstered tray and sideclipped barrels. The butt end features a relief of the aforementioned boar. I have sold many of these over the years , they have never let buyers down. AYA no 4 £145 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Average Condition Harpenden, Hertfordshire Side by Side, 1/2 Choke, Full Choke, 28" barrels Description I’m selling my AYA no 4 boxlock side by side. This is one of Aguirre y Aranzabal ‘s better boxlocks having superior quality actions featuring locking screws rather than the pins found in Yeomans. It differs from the no 3 in being an ejector. This gun was made in 1970 and is in better condition than most 53 year olds. The oiled stock is in near perfect condition and has a 14 ¾” pull finished with a slim recoil pad. The barrels are 28” and in good condition and having the classic full and half choke. AYA copied this style from the pre-war Holland and Hollands and have seen no reason to change it. This gun was made in the Basque region near Bilbao in 1962. In this era guns were often made by groups of artisan gunsmiths then assembled for the English or American markets without a makers name; now sold as Spanish unknown. My research has found this gun was made in the town of Eibar by Hijos de M. Beneciartua and the barrels made by Miguel Garagarza who worked for the firm Juan Zubiarre. The English stock is in fine condition and has a 14 ¼ “ pull to its right hand cast. The 28” barrels are in good condition and are choked to ½ and ¾. The gun has a few marks expected on any 60 year old but must be an ideal walk up gun at this price. Halliday. The gun features nicely figured wood with a decent right hand cast. The extension looks professionally fitted with similar colour and graining. The action shows classic engraving and the elegant tapered fences fashionable by the southern makers. The address of Queen Victoria St on the rib would indicate the gun was made in 1921-1924. This gun has had use. The chequering is worn but could be re-chased and the stock has a few dinks and repairs.
