  1. Hi all. Due to a change in my working hours I'm now free to beat on Mondays or Tuesdays - I have a regular shoot in Flintshire local to me which is Fridays/Saturdays, so they are full - I could also do some Wednesdays as still some holidays available. I've done 25 ish days every season since 2006, and have one hard working steady spaniel, with a what will b 18 month old cocker to bring on gently. Have transport (just a normal car) reliable and obedient! (As much as women ever can be ha 😉) Thanks in advance, Sarah.
  2. I have 2 spaniels from rescue who were trusted to me as I WAS going to work them. I have another from same place who will also work once her confidence comes good. She's from same rescue via gamekeeper and worked b4 but lost confidence so he couldn't use her. Some dogs come into rescue needing working homes, and a good knowledgable rescue will realise this and rehome appropriately. Some are even suggested to stay living outside... My young rescue is my best dog, and will b on his third season this time round 😊
  3. hi Mitch, sorry I couldnt make any of the dates last year for the Gwyrn Shoot, but again I find myself with quite a few free saturdays - if you still want more beaters do let me know what dates you have for the season, I will let you know which ones I can do - will be good to go somewhere more local :)

  4. haha god no, that was a few weeks ago! always wary about game that is just found anyway...
  5. Fonz found a dead rabbit, was freshly shot and left.. so of course he had to bring it to me..
  6. hi Paul, sorry just seen this! thanks very much, will be seeing you saturday!
  7. thanks, Fonz is such a poser for the camera, but he does work hard too lol! bag for the day was about 120 ish, all done and finished by 1.30 a great way to spend the day though!!
  8. I hardly ever take photos while beating, but this was too good an opportunity - while having a quick coffee and waiting for string to tie the birds, Fonz just happened to sit himself surrounded by them! looking rather proud if I may say so!!
  9. do you have enough beaters? are the drives being driven in the best direction? sometimes its just one of those days!! as a beater i have often watched the birds turn in the other direction away from the guns, break out from the line or just not be there if the weather is odd... are the guns positioned in the best place? so many questions lol i dont envy a gamekeepers job on the day... :yp: just my thoughts from the other side
  10. thanks all for the welcomes! I do have a regular shoot I go to up Llandegla, but there are a few saturdays I have free as we do more in the week that on saturdays...so if you know of anywhere that needs extra bodies on a saturday do let me know, have a fairly steady dog too lol!
  11. hi all, I'm Sarah, from Flintshire, sunny North Wales. Thought would check this place out after being recommended by a friend - I have 4 dogs, into beating more than shooting, one of my dogs is a youngster who I am hoping to bring on to be a good dog wiht the help of my trainer. One other works the beating line, the other 2 are "retired" lol! anyway, thats just a little about me - off to have a nose around here
