  1. im in exactly the same situation (after a L/H semi), if you look at my post i have asked a few question regarding what is out there on the market, most of them have got some useful replies) from where im at its either the benellie m2, although this is going to be over the budget i imagine. or the new Hatsan. concerning the Hatsan i would advise going for the lasted model, this is the one with extended chokes as i have heard this to have the best review. ive seen them ranging from £350 - £450 brand new. however every day i change my mind on which i should go for, the hatsan or benellie i know fabarm do i L/H semi as well, havent heard to many reviews on these though. as for shooting R/H semis left handed i have decide to stay away from this option as ive only had bad experience doing this. yet us know what you decide ATB Solz
  2. thx, how far do you have to bend them? they feel like them dont want to be bended at the base as they look welded together?
  3. thanks for your thought. i was wondering what stuff came with the M2 as standard. if i did go for the escort it would be the lastest model with the 3" chamber. (i have not use for 3 1/2 tbh. solz
  4. ive shot right handed semis from my left shoulder before, once or twice got some stuff in my eye and once a night all i saw was a big flame so has kinda put me off i me. my other problem is i was looking for a cheaper gun for rabbiting from a truck as well as a hide gun (this is why i considered the Hatsan), but like most people know they are either great guns or terrible. just wonder if anyone had an experience with the latest models which i have heard to be better and more reliable.
  5. ok thanks, have you heard anything about fabarm xlr reverse? or the new hatsan?
  6. hey all looking for a left handed semi. the three i know about and have read up on are the three in the title, the Hatsan escort (new model with extended chokes), Benellie M2 or the Fabarm XLR reverse. the obv choice would be the Benellie or fabarm (though have not much on this gun) however was at the game fair today and tryed out the M2, my problem was it was to short in the stock and i think the cast was wrong (when i put the gun up i could only see the bottom of the rib and not the bead) i ask the lady in the shop and see said you can buy gel pads to alter the LOP however this cost around £80 which i was a bit shocked ab out. Also i dont no if you get shims to alter the cast and comb height. The lady also said the stay away from the Hatsan (same as about Half the people i talk to about them) although i dont know if this was do to the fact that i was asking about a more expensive gun from the shop. so has anyone got reviews on the new escort (the one with the extended chokes, fastloading system and smart value), as well as an reviews on the Fabarm? also can i alter the benellie to fit me with out spending more money? hope this all makes sense solz ps id rather have reviews from people who actually have the new escort (non "stay away from all hatsans ever" comments)
  7. brought one of these today from their stand at midlands, just s bit confused on how you atttach the dead birds? (i dont have any "close peg" clips, just has two metal rods in a close "v" section, they look to be welded together at the base? am i being stupid? (the answer is probably yes lol)
  8. thanks for all the replies, i will contact my FEO and see what they say. thanks again solz
  9. ok, so i could keep the gun in my room if i take measure to make sure it was safe (though not in a actually safe) ? just seeing what my options are, tbh i think i would put it in my mates safe. how long can i keep it in a friends safe before i have to inform anyone?
  10. ok thx for all the advice. i know it is irresponsible to leave a gun in a car overnight, but is it actually illegal?
  11. thx, if i store it in a gunshop would i be able to go in a take ti out what ever time i wanted to? i imagine if i come back from shooting at 10pm the shop would be close, what would i do then?
  12. that was my main idea, do i have to inform the police that i have done this? also what is the laws and putting a gun safe in a rented house?
  13. Hey at the end of this month i will start college again in Cornwall, when at college i tend to do alot of shooting with mates (all above broad, clays, pigeons ect) who leave down in Cornwall so can pop back home and grab there guns when we decide to go shooting it would be nice for me to take a gun down so i can use my own gun rather than using someones else is. my question is where can i store my gun whilst down there? (please not i wont have a gun down there all the time just on odd weekends) obv i dont want to take my gun down to Cornwall and when finished using it drive all the way back home to put it back in the safe (its about a 2 - 3 hr drive from home) i no it is irresponsible to leave the gun in a car over night so dont want to be doing this, what are my other options? also i leave in a rented house with other people (non who have a SGC) thx solz ps sorry for bad wording, spelling and grammar
  14. what mark was it? did it have the fast loading system?
  15. thx, most of the videos i have seen, cant seem to find any of the lasted models, i would consider it if they did a left handed semi
  16. is this for the new model escorts? the one with extended chokes? please may you post a link to this video thx solz
  17. well had an email today saying they had a query about my licence, was told to ring them up directly, been trying all day and all i get is answer phone. really getting annoyed now :(
  18. well thanks for all the advice so far, i will take it all into account one more silly question, if i end up do buying a guy what is the process, am i right in believing they right it on ur license and give you a form to send off in the post?
  19. hey, bit of a noobie question but id rather have some good advice and looking silly than not have any advice at all. hopefully my SGC will arrive before the midlands game fair, so if it does i would be going to look for a gun at the fair, but have a few questions about buying at a show. firstly will they accept card payments at the show? i have herd there are cash machines on site but don't fancy walking around with £500 ish in my pocket (that's my budget for a gun) also is it advisable buying from stands? or is it best to find stands that are from close to where i live and then visit the shop afterwards( possible to get a bit more advice from their shop rather than their stand?) if you buy a gun form a stand can you take it home with you that day? or do they send it to ur local RFD? finally i have never brought i gun before so what is the process of buying guns (this is the really silly question) obv have to have my SGC with me, am i right in thinking i will get a receipt for the gun? and am i able to claim the VAT back? i am VAT registered once again sorry if it seems sill asking all this but like i said i would like to get it right thx solz ps this is all based on my SGC arriving, and the show being on lol, if not then i will still go for a look around.
  20. well its been a week since my last reference was posted using recorded delivery and have emailed my FEO, she says that she has spoke to someone in the Firearms Licensing in gloucester and she said it should be done this week so hopefully we have it soon thx solz
  21. no the one hey rejected was a RFD, which i do not no could not be a referee ( so my fault really, but i would of thought they would of tole me that before i had the interview and not after) the Vet was the replacement referee whos reference has "got lost somewhere"
  22. my referee was my local vet, can you get the form off the internet? or do they get sent to me? im am sure they said on the phone that they were sending one out
  23. thanks for the advice, i will get it resent by recorded delivery the referee i have known for a well, so i do trust them when they say it was sent, i imagine, as many have said, that it has got lost somewhere either in the post or their system. think ill just have to sit and wait as per normal, is it best to phone them up a few weeks after it has been delivered to them? ( by confirmation of recorded delivery?) tbh i would be quite happy ring them up every day, but i think that might get on their nerves and the last thing i want to do is upset them solz
  24. yep i havent been to happy with them are you allowed to hand deliver it yourself?
