Heh - At the mercy of whatever gunshop i go to here, as I really can't tell what fits being a beginner. That's why i was thinking the CG summit ascent as it seems pretty adjustable.

Twiddling my thumbs now waiting for the licence so just need to get my **** in gear and test some out

no need to be - a decent instructor should make you fully aware of what gun fit means - google gun fit or shotgun gun fit to see whats involved - no need to spend a fortune - open a new topic on gun fit here - plenty of knowledgeable members

  2. When it come down to the bottom line having an experienced eye look at you and your gun, can tell you in a minute what you may take hours of messing about .Looking at you and asking a couple of questions can tell if its the gun , you or both .

    +1

a decent o/u shotgun will cost you £1400 new and every thousand shells you put through it will cost circa £170 plus the cost of the clays.

To get someone who knows what they are doing to look at you and your gun and recommend what fitting action is required will cost far less than a £100 plus the modification costs.

welsh warrior on here does it, he has try guns I believe. Many have recommended his services.

  3. Is it remotely like this ?

I dont think so - the advert says grade 3 - Hamster's picture, although not that clear on my computer, appears to show a far higher grade wood than that.

All things being equal this gun appears extremely good value at £800. They are well built. SKB is very popular in the USA. Spares availability is said to be good in USA. You should be aware that SKB has shut up shop in Japan circa 2009/2010 - some Turkish outfit "akus" has done a deal with SKB in america. For what I am not sure.

  4. phone the dealers first as you dont want to get the "haven't got them both in stock but i can order one for you" rubbish

look at both side by side and get the dealer to strip them down

the build quality can then be seen

both can be had for less than £400 new according to guntrader

    armsan £365 hatsan £330

All I was saying is: This is the product used by Teague and IF you wanted to continue using it, this was the price and supplier I found and used with good service.

+1 however you won't get off that easy on here Matt!!

  6. How clean is it?

If it is breathable and dirty that will let water through.

+1 however if that doesnt work maybe time to buy new - they're very expensive though - must be to do with the word shooting or hunting - whatever

Use a Teague choke key to nip up exteded chokes - no need for cut outs in the choke which can easily burr.

the extended chokes shouldn't really need nipping up with a key - hand tight should be enough but check regularly - however don't forget the axle grease on the threads - use very little - and dont have the grease oozing from the threads into the barrel - that should put a stop to "loosening" chokes. Comma Multipurpose Lithium Grease is fine no need for "choke grease" that costs a fortune.

  8. yep can't afford the real deal yet just wondered if the real m'coy is really £3500 better than the mxs do you think p guns are good value full stop

if you dont let your brain rule your heart and look at it objectively the answer has to be a resounding NO

however people being people who knows

  9. Best read the reviews

a starting point - at the end of the day it has to "fit" no matter what it costs - I use a bog standard mk38 grade 1 for around £1400 or so new as a benchmark for what other guns may or may not be worth to me. I purchased a used mint miroku grade 5 because I love beautiful wood, its all a matter of preference - but do get the basics right when purchasing - just my view

At the shooting show I bought myself a set of Teague chokes, with them came two little red tubs of "choke grease" in a Teague branded plastic tub.

I took to there website to buy some more for the future but they didnt advertise as selling any.So I sent an email to Teague asking what exactly it is and was told it was:

    Castrol Spheerol LCX 6002

I set about trying to find it expecting it to be expensive as so many "choke greases" are. Well I struggled and in the end found a stockist here in the UK: Kernow Oils Ltd. I dropped them an email and have been sorted with 400g (Grease gun canister size) for £13 delivered. I delt with Mark Adkins at the company and he was great to deal with.
