  1. Thanks all, it is for a bit of fun and as predicted I went for the V8. It needs some work, but the seller was genuine and it as stacks of history. Just driven it home 70 miles and it drove perfectly!
  2. Brilliant, thanks for your advice! I won’t be doing much mileage, so fuel isn’t a concern.
  3. Shooting forum maybe, but I’m making the assumption that most shooters drive a car and maybe some of those cars might be Land Rovers. Also, 90 thousand posts suggest maybe there is an interest in discussing cars. I do know about Defenders and newer range rovers, but know nothing about classics, so was looking for some feedback from people that have actually owned one. Do you have any practical/helpful advice, or should I just go to another forum?
  4. Thanks chaps! Fortunately I have a decent mechanic that knows Land Rovers and is very reasonably priced.
  5. Cheers! I have the 4.4 V8 in my ranger rover and a Td5 Defender, and love them both, but really fancy a classic. The V8 I am looking at is solid and has stacks of history, it just needs the paint sorting. Also has an MOT with no advisories. It’s owned by a Landrover specialist. I will drive them both and see what I think, but I do think I will prefer the V8.
  6. Nonsense! Still the best make out there. I’ve owned 6 in the last 13 years. I keep on top of the maintenance and they’ve been as good as gold. Thanks! The guy has 2, a very tidy tdi manual with brilliant history and a V8 auto also with good history but quite shabby.
  7. Evening all! I really fancy buying a Range Rover classic and am looking for advice on models and what to look out for. I am not a car expert, but I’m a big Land Rover fan. I currently have an L322 and a Defender. I am going to look at a 1992 200tdi Vogue, so would appreciate any thoughts and tips. Cheers!
  8. Thanks all! Whilst it will be my first spaniel, it’s not my first working dog. I’m not looking for a trialling dog, but I am looking for a pup from working parents and proof of that. There seems to be quite a few out there that don’t actually work or are being bred quite young. That is not for me
  9. Evening all! I’m thinking about getting a cocker pup next year, and will be looking for a red dog with a stocky build. I mostly do walked up, with a bit of driven and some wildfowling. I haven’t had a spaniel before, as I have a lab and a working Goldie and think a cocker would be great for where I live. Can anyone suggest where I should start looking please? Thanks!
  10. Join the Findhorn bay Wildfowlers group on Facebook. They are a helpful bunch. I was looking to shoot up there earlier on this year, but after all the stories I heard, I gave it a miss.

I use my old fishing unhooking mat. Pretty lite and comfortable
  12. Brand new with tags, Hoggs of Fife moleskin breeks. Never been worn. £25 +postage.
  13. Has anyone shot the Ouse washes recently? I know it’s early, but just thought I would check. Cheers Stury
  14. Thanks chaps! I bought the Zabala. Lovely gun with a bit of weight to it. Will be taking it out this weekend.
  15. Unfortunately we didn’t get a shot, but it was brilliant to be out! Only fell over about 6 times 😜 Saw lots of greys, but we weren’t lucky enough to get close. There was a full moon and not even breeze. Motty was a great host and taught us loads. Can’t wait till the next time! I made a rookie mistake on the way home though. Forgot to wipe the new gun down, so the barrels were covered in surface rust. Any recommendations on how to sort it out and how do you avoid it happening to you? It was only in the slip for a few hours.
  16. Thanks everyone! Motty - I’ll bring the Nespresso machine, cappuccino or late? 😜
  17. Thanks all! waders arrive on Thursday, so I hope they fit too!
  18. Evening all! I’m pretty new to wildfowling and this weekend I’ll be going out on the marsh, with an experienced club member. As it’s quite a high tide and a full moon, any tips? Thanks!
  19. Some of them are 3” magnums, so, that should be okay, shouldn’t it?
  20. Thanks chaps. I’ll take a look at the Zabala and AYA3 as well.
  21. Thanks, but, I’m looking for an SxS, and hopefully a bit cheaper than those on guntrader. Just looking for a SxS capable of shooting magnum loads.
  22. Thanks chaps, but I’m looking for the SxS. Not too fussed whether it’s 3” or 3.5”. Are there other reasonably priced SxS ‘s that can shoot steel?
