  1. Have a look at the website Money Saving Expert. There are some pro forma letters on there. If you need help with letter happy for you to pm me. Blackbart advice is good - do not use one of the PPI reclaim companies as they take a fair amount of £ for doing very little. Good luck.
  2. Sorry for the typo, should say PICKERS UP and not LOCKERS UP. Clearly should have reviewed post before posting
  3. HMRC has previously left payments to beaters alone as they considered any 'payment' as a reward and that the individual's (the beater) costs would be likely to match their outgoings. The introduction of RTI is the biggest change to the PAYE tax regime in the last forty years and based on advice on HMRC website the estate owner should determine whether a beater/picker up should be considered as an employee, and therefore deduct tax and NI and be liable for employer's NI, or as self employed. The HMRC site provides guidance as to employment status and I would have thought that beaters and lockers up could be classified as self employed, however I suspect there will be much discussion on this, probably better to wait for formal advice via the Countryside Alliance. I doubt whether HMRC has the capacity to liaise with other govt departments responsible for the administration of benefits. They certainly have not done so in the past. The only body that has done this, albeit in a limited capacity, was the Audit Commission. The AC (on an annual basis) took payroll data from all local govt and NHS bodies (and its own payroll data) to compare against some benefits, housing and council tax benefit, immigration status, etc as part of their National Fraud Initiative. As said above, tax is one of the certainties of life.

    e cig?

I have used exit for 14 months and no regrets - feel healthier, fraction of the cost of cigs and cigars. I order online from JACVAPOUR.
  5. Ditchman Could I see the video please Thanks
  6. I have been using FUDs this year, got a dozen for £30 at a local gunsmith. Found these to be more effective than the shells used before (although these a bit old and battered perhaps). Not sure I like the mounting plate (or spike) that much.
  7. Thank you all for advice. I will go with steel wheels and winter tyres, on all four corners of course. Skoda have a deal on at the moment, their approved (for Yeti) steel wheels @ £50 each. Thanks again.
  8. Some advice please. I drive a skoda yeti 2wd and almost all driving is on road, but have used it off road in the drier months along (somemfairly rough) farm tracks. No problems as has excellent ground clearance. So you would think little need for a 4wd. However in winter often cannot get to a cleared main road. I am a bit reluctant to trade or sell the car as have had from new, still under extended warranty, no problems and good mpg. Could anyone advise on a good performing snow tyre, for improved road grip, or, should I bite the bullet and go for 4wd. Considering Yeti, CRV and Freelander diesels? Suggestions please .......

If I could offer the following. The firms that 'process' claims on your behalf take a fair old wedge of cash formeffectively doing very little, so the real answer is none. You can make a claim yourself and if that claim is refused or rejected then progress the case to the Ombudsman. Have a look at the following site which has been set up by Martin Lewis, www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance. There is some good simple to follow advise on here including some suggested wording for letters to the PPI seller and for the Ombudsman. If this was not a licensed area I would be advertising a service at a minimal flat rate per letter, it should only take one letter in most cases and up to four where protracted and involving the Ombudsman.
