  2. Hi Are there any resources or reference charts which can guide you on what times of year things are going on during a farming schedule e.g, planting times, harvesting times etc...... I know a lot is all dependant on weather for farmers but as a newcomer to pigeon shooting It would be good to know a rough schedule. Cheers Zeus
  3. How long and where should you season sticks? Ive cut reasonably straight lenghts of, mainly, Hazel and also a few lengths of Holly. I have read that Holly will take longer. Will It do just in the shed or would the loft be better? Zeus
  4. Cheers Mr Pigeon......I will definitely look you up if im ever in your area, cheers.

  7. I will be going back with BASC as they are at the forefront when it comes to being a voice for shooting and country sports, and as Im hopeing to get into shooting live quarry they seem the best option. Once a gain thanks PW members for your opinions. knowledge.......and ofcourse sense of humour. Zeus
  8. Thanks for the info.....its all very interesting to know. Very similar to motor/home policy with regards to what you are and aren't covered for. David BASC are you affiliated with BASC? Do they cover beaters?
  9. Ive just returned from a 2 year break from shooting. I let my previous policy, with BASC, expire at that time. I know that there are now several different providers, countryside alliance, CPSA. I will do a search.....thanks.
  10. Which organisations, that provide insurance to shooters, are PW members signed upto? Im looking into the benefits of each to weigh up which is best. Has anyone had the need to use there insurance policy? Zeus
  11. Cheers Malantone....I would love a semi auto, sadly the funds dont allow it at the moment !
  12. So looks like I dont have to be to worried about how long I should be waiting.....
  13. Hey, Im really keen on learning about the art of Decoying and the fieldcrafts which go with it...something which I have no experience of. What Im looking for is a kind decoyer who would allow me to shadow them on a day out. Im not asking to shoot with them...only to watch an learn as much as i can. Obviously in return i will assist in any way you see fit such as retrieving, carrying, loading, plucking and gutting etc.....generally a dogs body/whipping boy! (hopefully less of the latter) Im in the Bewdley area of Worcestershire. I know altot of people say get out there and do but but when you have no land rights its a little tricky. Plus i want to be able to approach land owners with confidence and reassurance to them that I know whats what. Any offers or help would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers Zeus
  14. Having taken advice from my local issueing authority of what needs to be done regarding change of address, which was - Re-fit cabinet in suitable place and securely. Move guns once above was done, Inform local licensing authority, in writting, with 7 days. All of which I have now done. The local licencing department said that once I had informed them that a FEO would contact me to arrange a visit. Its been two weeks now and Ive herd nothing. How long have people waited in the same situation? Zeus

  17. Thanks for the info....choke selection does sound a mindfield, it really does help to put a few rounds into a pattern plate to help you understand . I've herd of a few issues with semi autos not cycling 28gr carts....is this due to the lack of pressure to cycle them through the gun?
  18. Cheers for the welcome guys... HDAV...I was at this shoot on Sunday and had an excellent morning...a well laid out ground and good variety of targets....only problem is i left my ear defenders there....ohwell a good excuse to go back i think!
  19. Hi Is anyone shooting here on Sunday 25th?
  20. I have a pair of Radians, battery ear defenders with sound blanking built in. I won them in a shooting times competition. They are slim line, easy on off and comfortable. They pick up and low noise such as speech and traps etc but blank out the bang. Can highly recommend, but dont know how much they retail for.
  21. What can people recomend for Kit basics and absoulute estentials for decoying equipment....... obviously I will have my gun and rounds with me so no need for the obvious answers.... What are people little tips like what would they never leave the house with on a shoot day.
