  1. I wasnt. I just wanted other peoples opinions on the subject. To see if anyone agrees with my comments of which im sure someone out there will. Josh
  2. Surely being a user of air rifles for obviously sometime, you should hopefully know the law on them right?
  3. I wasnt intending for an argument in anyway shape or form. Just the fact he accused me of lying. Josh
  4. So Evo, in the upmost respect maybe if you had researched the age requirements before accusing me of lying you would also of read this in the Air rifle code of conduct "All birds are protected, and although there are seasons when you can legally shoot game, and some wildfowl, they are not suitable quarry for air rifles." Once again, each to there own opinion, its not like Basc are a very important voice in the sport of shooting anyway,oh wait.
  5. http://basc.org.uk/airgunning/basc-air-rifle-code-of-practice/ Take note of the 14-17 years section I was infact wrong on the gifting of a gun. So yes, it is in the eyes of the law "Daddys gun"
  6. Correct me if im wrong but im almost certain after speaking to my local firearms officer that i can legally use an air rifle with a muzzle velocity of sub 12ft lb on private land with the land owners permision!? And as for holding a full SGC its the same with that, or am i once again wrong!? And again im fairly certain you can be gifted an air rifle at 16. But cannnot buy one or the ammunition until your 18? Yes maybe some of my previous comments made me sound like a homeowner etc but i was in a rush to get my point accross and didnt have time to explain my life as i have "self centred" replies to write.
  7. Thanks! Dont see the point in debates which resort in swearing etc, each to there own, same to you belly. Josh
  8. Just to make it clear to all, it may of come across as i was having a dig at those who shoot phesants with an airgun. If you have been asked to rid them of a pest then fair enough, afterall its a job. Its just in my opinion and something I wouldnt do,was just looking for other peoples perspectives and bloody hell i got them! I agree with the subject ofthe hunter and the sportsman, the hunter in me does shoot for the pot,but its only rabbtits and pigeons, i suspose its all down the person pulling the trigger. Sorry if ive offended anyone. Josh
  9. And i must of got you mixed up with another daystate lover on here who shoots mainly FAC. For that i appologise
  10. assuming your talking about the "ushering out of my house" that would be because of MY opinion on the matter. Nothing else I personally don't see it sporting enough. I will pm you and have a full length discussion into why I don't think its acceptable but it's just my opinion. I'm sure you have opinions on things to which others don't agree.
  11. I did think I wasn't correct hence why I stated not to take it for definate! Cheers Josh
  12. Another point is, from reading the majority of your posts it occurs to me you shoot mainly FAC air? As I said In the start of this it's the 12ft lb part which gets me. the people I have seen doing this or have told me about this either need a more powerful gun for the dispatch or need a hell of a long time at the range sorting there selves out!
  13. Evo, I agree with the majority of points you put across on your posts. I myself shoot every night 5 days a week, lamping rabbits and Saturday I shoot all day, without fail, bare in mind I'm only 16 I love the sport and shoot with my airride more than anything. I'm not trying to have a dig at those who shoot pheasants with an air rifle and can also assure you I don't own one item of tweed. I bush beat all season on 3 game shoots locally and me and my dog do the majority of picking up. I have seen a lot of wounded pheasants. I didn't mean to start a thread which came across as me taking a dig and saying that it is an issue shooting them with an air rifle, I just wanted to voice MY opinion,of which I stand by, I personally would not do it,mainly because I see pheasants as a sporting bird, this however is because of how I have been brought up,and I can also Garuntee I'm no range rover driving, purdy wheeling "hooray Henry". I'm not self centred and I'm no where near a snob! I work for what I have and I appreciate what I have, At the end of the day this could be argued till the cows come home,it's each to there own and I respect your opinion and would appreciate it if you respected mine. Josh
  14. Again im not quite sure. I know for a fact when im out wildfowling its non toxic, but im inclined to think that because your inland you can use toxic. Dont take that for definate. I assume because your allowed to shoot duck with lead inland,so i dont see why you couldnt shoot canadas inland with toxic shot. The reason for non toxic when wildfowling was to preserve the marsh and the other wildlife which would eat or digest the shot. But im sure you dont want a history lesson! Josh
  15. I may be wrong but i believe you can use a rifled gun on a bird if they are on the General licence for vermin and the caliber is suitable
  16. I guess thats what im attempting to get at! Yes i suspose like anything in air rifle quarry standards, phesants will be dispatched humanely at the right distance with the right shot, its just the shooters opinion, like i said I personally would only use a shotgun because of the birds sporting heritage, this is why i agree with you when you say it is poor form to go after the bird with anything other Josh
  17. Hi all. I am looking to buy a ferret. I will be builidng the enclosure myself and was looking for some advice. Metal or wood? Obviously on the inside there will be some wooden structures to allow the ferrets to climb etc. My fortay is metal as im quite handy with the welder . I assume wood wouldnt be too hard! Next for the how do i put it, ''front''? Mesh seems to be the prefered option?? Please could anyone respond with some help or even PM me if they have any plans etc? Cheers Josh
  18. Thats true. Admittidley like everything there is exeptions. But for walking around shooting them and shooting them whilst there roosting i think its unnaceptable. Like i said that may just be how ive been brought up but if someone was to come and buy one of my guns and say it was for shooting phesants i would usher them out of my house using a wide range of vocabulary!Appauling! Josh
  19. After trawling through the airgun selection of Facebook groups I've seen a few photos of pheasants that have been shot with a sub 12 air rifle. Is it just me that thinks sub 12 is a bit too little for these beautiful birds?obviously no longer shooting season so no one should be shooting them, proably because I've been brought up in a game kind of life and would only shoot them with a shotgun, each to there own just wanted to hear others opinions! josh
  20. I have recently bought a 110 Land rover. 200 tdi engine the lot! Very pleased with it! Unfotunately i have a few months left to start driving so im working on it currently. I was just wondering if anyone knew any homemade or bought accesories that will help with shooting. Already fabricated some metal strips whih i have put over the wing mirrror which makes it more stable when resting the rifle! LAndy mirrors are quite flimsy! Thanks in advance! Josh
  21. Id like to reccomend a Hatsan AT44. My first gun and is still in the cabinet! Never had a fault with it! GOod shot count and the accuracy will match a S410 for a fraction of the price! Also available in composite so much easier to clean and less prone to scratches, not sure on the resale value as it hasnt even come into my mind about selling! The standard Mod is great and very quiet! Would highly reccomend! Josh
  22. Each to they're own, personally I've had both,I had a pump which i found kept me very fit but was a pain in the **** to maintain (cheap pump) I then resorted to driving 20 minutes down the road to the local gun shop to get it pumped up,it cost 2 pound a time plus a 5er in diesel which totals up to 7quid a time,I'd do this once a week, it then occurred to me and my stupid brain that Infact it would he cheaper buying a 7ltr dive bottle, getting it filled at the same place for 3 pound and getting 30 fills of it! it was a no brainer for me!
  23. Hi all. Let me start by introducing myself,I'm currently studying in my last year of education at skegness grammar school leading up to my GcSE's. I am a keen shooter and active member of both my local clay and Wildfowling club,I also partake in game shooting, pigeon shooting and vermin control. I am looking to volunteer on an estate around Lincolnshire which could possible result in an apprentiship. Could anyone with any information of any estates around Lincolnshire or with a vacancy thereself please Pm me. Regards Joshua Cuppleditch (07706 602095)
  24. it was just me being dumb, only 3/4 and full said no steel, suppose it's something to do with how tight the pattern is? got some gamebore mammoths now so thanks for all your advice!
  25. correct me if I'm wrong but just checked after being out for a flight this morning and my chokes are not steel shot proof, gun is up 1600 or so bar but chokes aren't. I've been told that tungsten could still be shot through non steel proofed chokes?is this correct?
