39 is still good!! My local place does the cheapest cartridges at 44 per 250.

GLWTS
I think it's very reasonably priced, I was looking at these last month, and they seem to be going for £300-600 on gun trader, gun watch, and gun star.

Neil, despite all the debate about what's right and wrong in this thread, I'd just ask your own FEO about it. Perhaps even get him to email you that you have permission. Then you can print it off, and keep it with your SGC just in case.

Thanks for the advice guys.
The gun is an o/u, but my manager doesn't like the idea of guns being on site at work (even parts of!).
At the end of the day, as people have already said, if someone really wants to steal something, they will regardless of what security measures (that gun shop robbery in wellingborough recently springs to mind!) It's just trying to make it as difficult for them as possible.
I'm also thinking that one of these cable lock things might show good "responsibility" should I get stopped by the police and have the car searched?!
-
I'm in a position where I quite often go shooting in the morning before driving straight to work for an evening shift.
I therefore think it would've wise to get a cable lock or something similar for securing my shotgun in the boot of my car.
I have now a few questions that I am hoping some people could help me with:
1. Is there a particular brand/design cable lock that PW members can reccomend?
2. Stupid question probably, but I guess you can only secure the cable through the trigger guard, yes?
3. Do you have o fix the cable lock to your car via a welded bracket or something?

Welcome to PW!
As a newbie myself, I found out that there are parts of the for sale section/wanted that remain "hidden" from new forum members for the first few months. This may well be why you can't see the sections quoted above (I can't see them yet either!!).
Hope that helps.

Welcome to PW!
Afraid I'm not from you're area of the world so can't comment on local places, but all the best anyhow!

Welcome to PW!
Still a newbie myself, but think it's a great forum already!
:-)

This is all news to me too! Never realised the quoted "weight" on cartridges was the shot! Seems obvious now I know! Haha!

Signed.

I am probably wrong in saying this, but wouldn't a "beginner" (like myself!) need more open chokes to start with so they can get more spread to hit the clay?
-
Oh I see!
Thanks for the heads up. Maybe its a time related thing then?!
Shame really. Being a newbie to the sport, i'm in the market for new/used equipment like this.

Where is this for sale section?
I can only see the guns for sale??
-
Looks fantastic!!
Well done.

...and many scientific theories that have been found to be utter nonsense.
This was my point. Yes, many scientific theories that were proven to be nonsense. And they admit it!
Various religions won't do that about their theories! They still want you to believe the nonsense!
I think at the end of the day, everyone is entitled to believe what they want. If you have 'faith' in religion then good for you! And the same to those that trust in science.
As for the Jehovah's witness as stated in the OP, well at least they're keeping busy, and not vandalising bus stops, setting fire to wheelie bins, etc

My comment about the site being down again was because I am shopping around for my first insurance since acquiring my sgc.
I don't want it to come across that I am bickering, just that I think it's bad for sacs if they want more business, when a possible new customer can't even get on the website, let alone join and pay his fee?!
-
It would appear that the site is down again today?!
-
Ok. Thanks for the info. :-)

That's good news to hear about the proposed changes within the basic membership in 2014.
In the meantime though, how much is it extra on top of membership currently? I don't really want to wait until sometime in 2014 to get cover....
-
The difference between science and religion, is that science admits when they have discovered they got something wrong. The same cannot be said for religion.
-
David, could you tell me what the extra cost of legal cover would be on top of the standard BASC membership/insurance?
I know that the organisation does a lot more than just insurance, I'd just like to get things sorted in my budget. This will be the first insurance I've had.
Many thanks in advanmce.
-
Apparently yes.
-
Ive seen this company advertised on this forum (top right of the page normally).
I just wondered if any PW members have joined up with them as an alternative to basc or sacs for their shooing insurance? And if they have a good reviews for their service or not?
First gun choice?

Another Miroku fan here.
A browning, but cheaper basically.
Mine's an old 7000 sporter, don't know if the barrels are chromed, but they are gleaming and perfect even after 21 years in service!
Pick a gun that fits, that has been looked after, and if possible get one of the "big 3" (Browning, Beretta, Miroku)! All the advice given to me recently when purchasing my first gun!
