Very nice, it does look very similar

I have no idea, maybe will find out one day if I keep it. We usually use Gamebore super steel, maybe there is a little hope for it then.

Can I suggest you email Mathew Morgan at Eastfield Guns In Stafford,  known as Miroku Matt. He may take a few days to reply to your email,  but he is VERY knowledgeable regarding Miroku guns. Check out his YouTube vids on vintage guns.

  2. With that shaped action, it is likely to be v springs then  ?  Some 25 years ago, when I ran a shooting ground, we had an early 3800 trap gun that was 3/4 and Full choke. Around that time Gamebore were selling steel loaded cartridges for clayshooting.  We put several 1000's through the Miroku, with the tightly choked barrels, without any damage to the gun. We eventually stopped using the steel shot cartridges for fear of ricochet, when someone managed to shoot the back of the steel trap house.

Westley - I interviewed the game keepers daughter for a job about 1990. She mentioned idiot drivers. 🙂

I rest my case  !  Thanks Gordon.

I worked at Worsley as an Instructor for a few years, after I retired, in 2004. On one occasion I was literally overtaken on that 'track' by a clown in a Toyota twin cab   ??

  4. I can remember the first time I went to Worsley, the game keeper was still living in the cottage part way down the access road. His dog kennels were on the opposite side of the roadway. He complained constantly about the speed of some of the clayshooters, and having witnessed some of them, justifiably so. Some of the large 4 x 4's drove what was literally through his yard, at speed, covering everything in dust. Now that the same roadway services an airgun club, a scout camp and a paintballing ground as well as the clay ground, that's an awful lot of traffic using that road.

  5. I had a really good day at Manchester Shooting Ground today. M62 not too busy and joy of joys, the access road to the ground is greatly improved.  There are still potholes, but nothing worse than the M62 westbound carriageway around Warrington.  100 testing targets each, with no more than 12 'no birds' in the 200. Then finished off in the Cafe, which is under new management, with some lovely food and a nice coffee. 100 birds at (£30, Members price). Toilets clean, could have walked the 13 stand course in carpet slippers and we met some old friends there. What a lovely day out.

Okay, so the approach road has been improved,  can I ask anyone on here visiting the ground to drive at a sensible speed, 20mph max. One of the reasons for the old surface not being repaired,  was to control the speed of traffic using the road.

Heard recently there is a clay shooing club just past Higher green  East Lancs RD .Has 100sporting every 3d week .Don’t know any more details don’t know name of club .Been to Worsley in past but the RD is a no no .

I'm going to Worsley today.  I am led to believe that the road to the ground has been improved.  Watch this space  !

There is a ground on the A580 East Lancs Road,  it is accessed through the farm yard. It is where the car boots are held. The lad from St Helens gun shop, Norgas, is connected with it.

  7. Yes, I rebuilt a 300 during lockdown. I ordered trigger mechanism spares and springs from OMPS 2 website, in Italy. Prices were very reasonable then, but I don't know if they have been affected by Brexit  ?

I would suggest that probably the only spares you will likely need are recoil and magazine springs.

  8. IF, you have to buy new, can I recommend you buy an Isis pad. I have one on my sub 8lbs Sporter and do not feel any recoil at all. I have given away th 2 Kick-eeze pads that I had. I thought they caused the gun to bounce in my shoulder, often causing the stock to bruise my upper arm. That has now stopped with the same thickness Isis pad.

I would like to think that old'un , however for some types it is just an occcupational hazard. Take for instance back in 2021 not half a mile from me, a gang of thugs broke into a local farm demanding money and valubles, they took firearms and shot the farmer at almost point blank range in the thigh and foot, he somehow survived, but sadly lost his foot. What a traumatic experience and a life changing one at that.

The gang had targeted other rural properties before for equipment and valuables.

That gang are all behind bars now.

    BUT not for long  !

  10. In the late 70's I was confronted by a naked Male swinging a cavalry sword around.  There were no tasers then, and although a Firearms Officer,  that entailed returning to the Station to get permission to draw and use a firearm. Carrying only 2 foot of wood, I opted for my backup weapon........a 998cc Austin mini. That seemed to do the trick. I was able to pick up the sword and put it into the car. I then rendered first aid until an ambulance arrived. We were not even issued with handcuffs, but like many other Bobbies, I bought my own. In fact W. Richards (Liverpool),  a Gunsmiths now in Yorkshire, equipped many a Bobbie with handcuffs.

This all took place at 3.00am so no great risk to the public.

Looking at the Eccles Road on google maps there is only one farm on that road, more than likely had stuff stolen before, looks like this time he’s taken the law into his own hands, one dead, one wounded and one arrested.

At least it is one less 'Repeat Offender'  !

Yeah I'm 58, it's a weird gun but I really like it so no plans to change

I said that about my ProSport after almost 9lbs in weight. However, age and old injuries have forced me into shooting in 8lbs gun. That 1lb makes a heck of a difference.

Haha worried about the new gun!

think they’re probably fine then… Not done any visible damage in 500 rounds and it’s a modern 3” superior steel proof gun so I doubt even degraded old powder would exceed pressures. I have no idea if that’s stupid logic or not though!

Flog em to someone with a Hatsan  !  😄

We have loads of songbirds in our garden always have ,and have also had a Magpie nest next door every year raising 3 or 4 young ,the apocalyptical predation of song bird young or eggs appears to not happen near us .I suppose we just got lucky .

I guess you must be lucky, maybe you have vegan magpies  ?  I wish we had them here. Every year I witness the damage that magpies do to ALL nesting birds, but being in the middle of a concrete jungle, I am unable to do anything about their control.

If the REFUGE that is the HARD SHOULDER is taken away and used as a LIVE LANE there is NO REFUGE.

So it's a bit like a breakdown in lane 3 then  ? Pushing your car across 2 live lanes is not really an option  ?

The ONLY way Smart Motorways are safe is when they are EMPTY.

Bloody awful idea from the start.

The only way ANY motorway is safe is when it is empty. Or any other road for that matter. I read this week that road workers are being attacked by irate idiot drivers who dislike having their journey disrupted. While these clowns are driving on our roads, no road is safe.

I am merely a child compared to some of you lot, but even I remember the shilling gas meter in the fifties. And the proper dustmen and galvanised bins. And the rag and bone man giving kids goldfish. I remember Grandma washing using a ponch and dolly tub, and a rubbing board, in her outside wash house with it’s built-in boiler, coal fired of course. (Very posh!)
My wife’s father was still delivering coal on his back in hessian sacks from his old Bedford three tonner when we met in 1970, and he retired in ‘73.
I was born in 1948 and my Father at the time had a milk round which he delivered on a three wheeler trike. So my birth certificate reads: Father’s occupation: milk roundsman.
I suspect many more should read the same!

Remember the shilling gas meters, in the 1960's I was fitting them  !   😄
