  1. Hi guys, sorry for delay. Been away this week. Deliver 45p a mile including return journey but this can be negotiated. I priced it at 250 expecting offers and as its in brilliant nick and cheapest on Gunstar. Offers welcome etc!
  2. My gun guys. Email or text through te details on gun watch. Many thanks!
  3. For those who are interested, went to Fultons today and was told the previous owner had entirely replaced the spring with a bit of rubber. New spring inserted and its cycling well - a bit stiff but well! Many thanks for all your help!
  4. I also shoot at West Kent and whilst I can understand them doing this to encourage women into the sport, I see no advantage in a reduction of price per clay; if women want to get into the sport they would expect to, and i'm sure be happy to, pay the same price as their male counterparts until they wanted to become members...? No?
  5. Hi everyone... Having read for years, joined a few months ago, and first posted today regarding an issue I have with my Enfield .410 conversion, I thought I should pop over here and say hello & introduce myself. I've not been lucky enough to have family who shoot; through friends and my girlfriends dad, I have been gradually introduced to the sport. This started with my granddad showing me his very old BSA air rifle when I was much smaller, to shooting it, to shooting it on my friends' farms, to shooting a multitude of firearms in the army cadets, to shooting shotguns on the friends' farms, and onto shotguns again, more recently, with my friends and father-in-law before finally going for the SGC and having a cabinet of my own. I now shoot whenever possible. Despite living in Hampshire, I primarily shoot where the friends and in-laws are in Sussex (rough shooting and lamping, as well as helping the girlfriend's dad with vermin) and thoroughly enjoy it! I also shoot at West Kent when I do go for a day of clay. I have had a few guns in the last year that have come and gone and am currently using the only 12g that I've found in my budget that fits me, which is a nice single trigger Baikal with a stock extension. I also have just got hold of a Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 Sporterized .410 conversion (that I have been after for years after having a deact previously) and that is the gun that spurred the posts today. I'm very glad to finally be contributing on here and although I am relatively new, I do hope that I don't become to irritating and am able to help the odd PW-er! Many thanks, Mike
  6. This forum has helped me hugely in the same manner. I never had the fortune of family who shoot, just many friends and my girlfriend's dad who have helped me along. I read this forum for years before I got my SGC for Air Rifles etc and this is part of the reason that I got the itch to go towards shotguns. A HUGE thank you from me too PW!!
  7. Well I am up there tomorrow and in no hurry whatsoever. Have been told to pop in and I'll be taken through to Gordon for a chat... If he's too busy to help (completely understandable), I am sure they won't mind my enquiring at fultons afterwards! Many thanks for all your help... Just out of curiousity, what is the perception of these conversions? Are the ishapore conversions better than ones done in later life? Are the original or sportized ones nicer and or better to shoot? And with no choking, are they **** for using on the odd bit of vermin?
  8. Many thanks for your help Saddler, will all aid me at the gunsmiths tomorrow. Any idea why the cartridges 'stick' in the chamber after the bolt is opened again without the action being fired off? Could it just be gunk around the chamber?
  9. Thanks for the info - I'm certain it is a weak or completely knackered (or non-existant) extractor spring as the extractor itself is easily moved (wobbled...). Gunsmiths should determine this tomorrow. As far as the use of .303 brass cartridges, it says on the mag restriction cert that its .410 x 3" so I presume its be converted for modern carts? RE: the receiver, the plate thats in there stops the magazine from locking in place, but the magazine 'friction fits' all but a millimetre or two short of fully in the magazine housing as far as I can tell... The seller told me that he opted for the plate (rather than blocking the housing with a wooden plug) so the magazine could still be inserted for aesthetic purposes, but from what I can tell, it doesn't go in enough to lock.
  10. Well she's going up to William Evans in Bisley tomorrow... Just wondered what people thought of them and if anyone had any solutions??
  11. Many thanks for further replies. Saddler, I would love a picture please. The extractor does not grip the cartridge 95% of the time I pull the bolt out, and when it does, the expended cartridge is not thrown out.......... Here are further pictures.... Any further info I could gte would be great as well... Been looking out for one of these since the licence came through but would love to know more about this gun in particular as I'm pretty sure it wasn't one of the ones converted in India for the brass .303 converted to .410 cartridges...
  12. Hi everyone Just wondered what your thoughts were on these as I have just purchased one? I'm heading up to Bisley tomorrow to have it looked at as it does not like to extract cartridges and they also get stuck in the chamber when the bolt is closed... Any thoughts on this??? Anyway, purchased from a private collector who was thinning his cabinet for his holiday fund. Hasn't been shot in years but bares all appropriate marks, stamps and certificates (mag restriction etc). What do you think of them? Mike!
  13. Don't know how relevant this is but when I applied for my SGC, after cabinet inspection, FEO went into front room whilst I locked it back up and he had a little chat with the missus (just to confirm her details, ask her if she shoots etc etc), she was a bit shaken by this thinking she may be in trouble etc..... Did worry me at the time, but cert cam through promptly. This is in Hampshire.
  14. Thanks very much for the sppedy response. I presumed this was the case, as its has the appropriate stamping and certificates but was just a tad concerned. The other issues with the gun (which may arise due to it being previously owned by a collector and not a 'shooter') is that when I load a cartridge into the breech, it becomes stuck... I think this may be some grime in the breech causing it to get jammed in?? But any thoughts? Also, it doesn't eject... I am taking to Bisley tomorrow for a proper look but can anyone with experience of enfield bolts tell me if the bolt and ejector look knackered?
