  1. Thanks for that.I live in Beds so a long way from you. I also live close to Langford and Langton who are famed for their work. I could probably use them but I am keen to hear if anyone has attempted to do up their own gun.
  2. Recently bought a HJ Hussey12 ga, aabout 1908. The stocks looks as if it is oak??. I think it may need some tlc, and so I have bought some Boiled Linseed oil to begin. However asI read more aabout what to do the more I realise that I should send it to a good stock man to do it for me. Any suggestions? Hillside1945
  3. Thanks to you both, What you have suggested makes good sense. This is my first year as a shooter so I am eager to get any advice I can. The roosting woods are not on my permission, and there is a road running parralel to the wood but I think if I set up in a bale hide in front of the wood and along the flight line, then I may have some success. The hide is set almost in the middle of the field so I think that I am a safe area. Thanks again for the help, and good hunting. hillside1945
  4. Went out yesterday afternoon -- freezing cold and laid out a dozen plastic decoys in middle of the field of rape. I sat in in a balehide. I saw 300 feeding in the next field to the left and maybe 500/600 feeding in the next field down and in front of me. I never got a shot in 3 hours. I can only think that I am not decoying correctly. Any ideas? hillside1945
  5. I am now learning the art of pigeon shooting and this is proving to a huge challenge, hence my reason for joining the forumMore details later as I get used to the information.

  6. I just want to sign in for the first time. Having been retired for 5 years I moved from London to Bedfordshire where I took up Beating in the winter months, bought a shotgun , aand did some clay shooting to improve my skills.
