Have you experienced an increase in Stock Doves in your area
David Smith replied to birdsallpl's topic in Talk From The Field
Yes stock doves and a!so what we call rock doves which are getting more common around these parts why I don't know, a lot faster than woodies and quicker to notice something untoward but seem to come into my decoys very willingly, I have eaten them and must prefer them to woodies.- 35 replies

I find decoys attract pigeons better than an apple.

Not so bad lads as you can see from the picture the sock mind my just break the pigeon shooters back or I would at the end of the day lack the strength to carry kit back to car, as boredom some days can be a factor.

Just a break down on kit I carry, and how easy it is to carry, 200 cartridges, 5 hide poles, 6 bouncer poles, 40 wire decoy props which give great movement,36 shell decoys, 6 winged decoys various, bucket seat, gun, hide, magnet + battery, 2 flages, binoculars, food, water and flask. All of which I carry with ease then on my return pigeons I have shot, keeps me fit. No doubt U will get some comments but each to his own and I am no spring chicken.

decoys, magnets, flappers & bouncers
David Smith replied to pigeonsbestfriend's topic in Pigeon Shooting Tips
It may seem over excessive but more is better, the bigger your pattern the more pull, and move ment is the key I carry and put out 36 shell decoys which are all spruced up if and when they need it. I also use floaters and a magnet but a magnet can put birds off sometimes coming in as it could simmulate birds taking off, everyone of my shells move even in the slightest of breeze's a disign of my own. I've also just had bouncers at the rear of the pattern none in front giving the simulation of birds coming in and landing behind the flock giving s clear path to the kill zone. When not using the rotary I mix haif a dozen crow decoys into and around the pattern this works well, movement is the key and concealment. -
Yes I often put bags out or flags it does work especially if you do it on the day you shoot.
