  1. Ah...drilling let me explain. It is the planting of a seed into the ground so a plant can grow. Each crop requires a different size hole hence a drill is used to create this hole. The farmer will take his handheld electric drill and individually drill the correct diameter hole to the required depth. He will then pop a seed into the hole and seal the hole back up with earth. A general rule of thumb is ; Oil seed rape requires a 2mm hole Barley 4mm Wheat 5mm Peas 10mm Beans 12 mm Turnip 200mm and so on. It is rare that you will see a farmer undertaking drilling as its a nocturnal activity and incredibly time consuming and back breaking work. Offering ones services to assist the farmer a sure fire way of gaining valuable permissions. Just make sure your drill is suitably charged or you possess a long 240volt extension lead.
