  1. Ok seriously now im not talking about the tyres rubbing on the arches or anything but the bluemotion vars are slightly lowered arent they so i was wondering if it would help a set of springs is like 50 quid and i do alot of motorway driving. My tyres are fully inflated and i regularly service the car what else can i do

  2. Good on you mate. I purchased my first at 28, just about to be 31 and now on three. They give you something to push forward and work towards and being self employed it made me even more driven. It's good to see someone with ambition - a classic case of wish you were closer as we always need decent sparks.

I'm not sure if I will do another or focus on something else to invest in - but what?! Was offered a lighting shop last week which might be a good option but then have to find staff etc. Something to think on!

i take from your name you are in london is that right? If so the site i work at is in barnet and one of my colleagues has his own business on the side and lives in enfield if thats any good to you
  3. I am an electrician and fairly handy so i can do anything in a house bar the boiler which i know a few people for so im ok in that respect i just want to get more out of life than just work 9-5 and then retire id like to be able to retire early and pay for my kids education and improve all of our quality of life. Im only 29 just now so id like to buy another property or two by the time im 40

  4. Thanks everyone i work nights and have been reading the suggested website all night. Its very interesting ibe been looking local to me bedfordshire but reading the website if i look a little bit further houses are so much cheaper. lots to think about

  5. Thanks everyone i have to find a bit more money for the deposit but me and the wife are looking to get a second home to rent out as a long term investment for the kids or our retirement and the plan is to own a few. Is it viable to get to a stage where you can stop working and live off the rentals

  6. Does anyone on here rent out properties or know anything about renting a second or third home. Like how much money is required for deposits whether or not its actually worth it or not

  7. I thought double-cab pickups might be a choice but the 'buckets' would be too small for the fishing rods. A 4x4 van would be a thought but I've not heard of one other than a Renault. A 4x4 estate does not keep the smelly stuff from the seating area. Decisions, decisions.

exactly i can fit the rod holdall in a pickup but the top tailgate glass has to stay open with a bunjee attached to it xc70's look nice but as you say would very quickly smell of dog but would be good for the commute to work. Ill have to stuck with the vectra untill i can decide i think
  8. Ok thanks everyone. Here is my situation if it helps i do a 90 mile round trip to work 4 times a week. Some weekends i do private work (electrician) with a colleague and i do a bit of fishing and and getting back into shooting. I also have a dog and am looking at getting another soon. So i need a big car with good mpg and a little bit of off road capability ive always wanted a truck but what else is there. I did look at a tucson as my grandad had one from new and is still in the family now and seems good vfm anyone got any suggestions

  9. When I took a 14 plate hilux for a test drive thE other day the trip computer said we were doing 32.9mpg, he said it should improve as all it had done for a while was shunt on and off the forecourt. I I was doing that many miles a year I would be looking at one of the new diesel estates doing mid to high 50mpg, also cheaper tyres etc

at the moment im driving a vectra diesel and getting around 50 mpg but used to have a terrano and have missed having a 4x4 ever since. Ive wanted a truck since before i could drive as my uncle had a mk1 hilux from new and it lasted him 26 years and when we went fishing when i was a kid i loved it. Id be ok with another 4x4 im just fed up with the vectra although in 55k its been bery reliable and never not started but i do look after my cars
  10. If you are concerned about getting high mpg you don't want a pick up.

What do you suggest then i do about 25-30k per year

  11. If that had happened in Hertfordshire around Ashridge the locals would have said it was one of the big cats. The belief in them is absolute among the farmers and gamekeepers, its just accepted as fact.

Aorry to bring up an old thread but i was reading through this and it reminded me. My dad used to work at rothamstead research in harpenden and there were many stories of people walking through there and seeing big cats and a few times the police were called as people lived on the site. One lady i remember my dad telling me heard a banging late at night so went to the back door switched the outside light on and watched the back half of one just going over her fence. In fact on the road i grew up on if i crossed the road was straight into a golf course and fields that went on for miles from st albans to luton and beyond. My brother was returning home one night and at the garages saw something massive and black, he watched it for a while but couldnt work out what it was. He got out quickly to open the garage expecting it to be a big dog and to come over but it sat down and watched him then jumped up and was gone over a 6ft fence. He was so sure of what it was he went in and woke my dad up to tell him. I fully believe they are out there and with all the countryside that we have im sure it would know that you were coming long before anyone got near one there are stories of them being shot and buried by farmers so as not to attract attention to their farm. Bit long winded but this has fascinated me since i was a kid as it was never an if but it was juat spoken about as fact

  12. Agreed but i really dont want to spend a grand on a dog bearing in mind ill never be able to train even an average bred dog to its full potential, i will try and i will be getting the help from trainers. i am not really in a rush to buy but id like to get one soon so i can be out and about with it training in the summerwhen ive got more light

  13. Its my first gun dog and will be a family pet also. I will take it beating roughshooting hopefully pigeon shooting and id like to join a wildfowling club at some point

So i was thinking a lab would be best as for budget 500 maybe more if i had to but id rather save as much as possible for decoying kit and dog training

  14. I just cant afford or justify spending 25-30k on a car just to throw it up and down the motorway though. Also i dont know how people afford it. Just running a vectra diesel saloon atm because its just a throw away car i paid 4.5k for it and have already done 50k in it and after say 3 years it will be worthless because of the mileage

Id love another 4x4 though i really miss my old terrano
