  1. Hi all, So as someone with a young family and only just getting onto the property ladder ... money is tight. However, I have recently got into clay shooting and have no intension of stopping . When budgetting for their monthly expenses, what do people allocate to their clay shooting budget?
  2. Joy... I have that all to come, I'm yet to have dealings with them but I wont hold out much hope :(.
  3. A little cheeky that they haven't processed your application, however they have had time to process you cheque...
  4. So there seems to be a lot of buzz (no pun intended) around the Avon Skin So Soft. Am I correct in thinking it is this product? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Avon-Original-Spray-Jojoba-Citronellol/dp/B002MDAOSQ/ref=lp_344272031_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1465483713&sr=1-1 https://www.avon.uk.com/product/1885/
  5. Cheers all!! I've found the following on Amazon which seems to have good reviews so I'll give it a try https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pyramid-formerly-Insect-Mosquito-Repellent/dp/B000R2DPYY
  6. Hey all, I wanted to get peoples experience and advise of those lovable blood sucking pests called mosquitoes. As the weather has started to pick up a little and it's getting later in the year I am finding that I'm getting increasingly bitten by mosquitoes (the pests seem to love me! ). While the bites are nothing more than an irritation during the week I'd prefer not to have them, and of course not going outdoors isn't an option. How do others overcome mosquitoes while outdoors/shooting? Any recommended products as there are many wipes, sprays, mosquitoes bands and voodoo spells... and I want to try something that is proven to work? Thanks in advance
  7. Sorry for potentially quite a newbie question... but for shotgun cartridges is it a requirement (or best practice) to have an ammo safe? Or is this more relevant for rifle ammunition?
  8. I'm hoping to head down with the wife, was a great show last year. I just hope the weather is as good...
  9. I assume you are going for a grant instead of a renewal? I am not saying don't get a safe but I just wanted to share the response I received from Hampshire Firearms Licensing: Question - "I assume I must have my gun cabinet fitting before the home visit?" Answer Received - "No we advise that you wait until your certificate is granted before you install security as there is no guarantee you will be granted a certificate." Hope this helps in anyway
  10. Were they alive when you got there? as if I not I don't think it counts...
  11. My dream car (no word of a lie) would be a Land Rover Defender 90 TD5. I have always said to my wife that if I win the lottery this will be the first purchase I make. I know it's not the best series, but growing up this has always been my dream... Also a Twisted Land Rover T40s Defender 90 XS Utility with a V8 wouldnt go a miss...
  12. Or if your phone has a case on it, use this as a substitute in the photo while you take the photo with your phone
  13. So guys I thought it would be fun to get a snapshot of what everyone's everyday carry (EDC) items are, and see how these differ for fieldsports folks compared to everyday Joes on the street... For those who are unfamiliar with EDC: "Everyday carry (EDC) or every day carry refers to items that are carried on a consistent basis to assist in dealing with normal everyday needs, including possible emergency situations." Basically do a pocket dump and take a photo. To kick things off, here is my EDC... iPhone 6s Plus Wallet CREE Q5 3W LED Flashlight Apple Watch Sport 42mm iPhone headphones
  14. Good point scotslad, I will look into this before I submit my application.
  15. I completely agree with the approach taken by the police, they have a duty of care to the general public and I am fully supportive of this. However your reply does not answer my question, which is; is there benefit to attaching a GP letter with the initial application or wait to see how the police respond to the application before approaching my GP?
  16. I'm finding this thread really useful... I will be apply for a shotgun licence grant very soon. I have had some anti-depressants in the past while at University, which I intend to declare and be fully open about. My question is knowing this will be of focus for the firearms department, is it worth me speaking with my GP prior to submitting my application to get a letter to attach in accompaniment with my application in support? Or simply wait for the response back from the firearms department before approaching my GP?
  17. Thanks all for the advice. Seems clear my next steps . I was looking at starting with a Lamber 12g over and under to begin with, as with a new family and home I haven't unfortunately got the best part of £1000 to buy a Beretta, Browning or Miroku.
  18. Hi all, I managed to pick up some pigeon breasts from my local butcher, as I am yet to have tried pigeon. So I have 10 pigeon breasts in the freezer waiting to be used... what are peoples recommendations for a first recipe? Thanks in advance
  19. Hi all, I'm new here so first let me introduce myself... I am new to field sports and beginning the process of applying for my first shotgun licence. I have been clay shooting at my local ground fora couple of months now and I am beginning to scope out my first shotgun. I have recently found there are some fairly local gun auctions at Salisbury. I wanted to get peoples take on buying a shotgun from an auction? I see there is no guarantee that the gun is functional and has no faults, and of course this why I am a little cautious. Nice to meet you all.
