  1. Great looking gun. Hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow!!!
  2. Well I've finally pulled the pin and ordered a new A400 Xtreme, which should arrive in the next few days. Can anyone tell me how best to store an auto, assembled in the cabinet or broken down in its case?
  3. Well today I popped over to a local dealer and handled a few semi autos. The assistant was suggesting a Benelli Black Eagle, it was nice as was the Browning Maxus but I much preferred the A400 Xtreme Unico. It just came up so well, I liked the weight and balance of it, plus it came with stock extensions in the case, unlike the Benelli at £80 a throw. So it looks like eventually my minds made up, all I need to do now is find a good used 28" (in black) or a really cracking deal on a new one, although I think the cash price I've been offered today will take some beating. I would like to thank all the members who have taken the time and effort to respond. Thank you all!
  4. Thanks. As I have a shoulder issue the plan was the A400 for the KO system and as i'm probably going to be using it for dual purposes was seriously considering the 'Extreme Unico', which I'm guessing is the exact same animal as the 'Extreme'?? From my research (for what it's worth) the 'Exel' is just a clay gun, where as the Extreme can be multi-purpose. Plus I prefer the black and grey to the fake wood and blue! Anybody agree with this?
  5. My local gunsmith says I'm better looking at Berettas as I need a round 15" LOP, Surprisingly he does seem to stock a lot of Berettas which may be his reason!!! Any suggestions for any other makes, bearing the LOP in mind, needing low recoil and wanting to use it for clays and pigeon shooting?
  6. Are they both very, very similar except for the blue action?
  7. Would you say an A400 exes or a Xtreme Unico if I want to combine it for clays and pigeon shooting?
  8. Hi bostonmick, Thanks for the response. Do you ever use them for pigeon/rough shooting or just mainly clays?
  9. No, to be honest I don't 'need' a 400. After shooting 150 clays on Friday my shoulder and cheek have taken a bit of a bashing, I'm after something reliable, with less recoil and to be honest fancy a change, like a semi (which I've never had). I'm completely open to suggestions but like the look, reviews and KO on the 400.
  10. Again thanks for all the replies. Does anyone have any negatives about the Beretta A400 exel, or for that matter any positives? I really like the look of the gun and whilst I have handled one I haven't yet fired one, my local Gun dealer is lending me a used one to try. Having read up on this model a fair bit the only negative I can find (other than the action colour) is that some people feel the trigger weight is a bit much? Once again any light that van be shed would be very welcome!
  11. Thanks to everyone who replied. I am leaning toward the Beratta A400 exel Kick Off, looks good, gets good reviews and I like the idea of the recoil reducer. Does anyone have any opinions?
  12. Hi, I'm thinking of buying a semi automatic (which I have no experience of at all) and was looking for some advice. In the past I have always shot O/U's and Side by side's, I currently use a Beretta 687 game gun which I love and intend to keep, just like the look of semi automatics. I would be using it for clays and pigeon shooting, if anyone can help with the following I'd appreciate it. I generally need a 15" LOP and have noticed most semi's seem to have shorter stocks, could someone explain why this is, are they easily extended etc? What make would you recommend, I like the look of the Beretta's? What barrel length? I usually go for 28" but have fancied trying a longer barrel to try and slow my swing a little. Are semi automatics less reliable as they appear a more complicated design?
  13. Hello, I'm in the process of starting pigeon shooting again after a 15 year break, just trying to get some land to shoot on! I still have all my old shell and full bodied decoys, net and poles but was wondering which rotary, flapper or bouncers you can recommend. Do I need all of them or does one make and type stand out? Also if anyone knows of any land in the Derbyshire area that needs any pest control that would be very handy!!!
  14. Thanks for the reply, may order a couple of Turbo Flappers then and not bother with the rotary. Do you have any advice on where to pick up pigeon shooting? A guy I met earlier recommended Leicestershire Wild Fowling Association, as apparently they have land all over and lots of pigeon shooting, however, looking at their website it looks as though they've packed in. So any other suggestions would be very welcome???
  15. Hello, I'm new to the forum and (as the title suggests) am looking to get back into pigeon shooting in the Derbyshire area. Whilst I kept my guns I haven't done any serious shooting for 15 years, prior to that I was in a couple of pheasant syndicates, a partridge shoot and did some rough and clay shooting. Unfortunately I have lost contact with the people i used to shoot with and was wondering if any of you could help me with the following? 1) I live just outside Matlock, can anyone suggest any society's, syndicates or clubs to get me back into things? 2) I have all the decoys, poles, nets etc but was thinking of buying a rotary magnet, can anyone suggest a good make? Looking forward to any replies.
