  1. Also wanted to ask if the Rhino Rifle Scope is any good this one 6-24x50 with illuminated rectale. I can get one new for £75 some one at the club selling s/hand but never been used or mounted. I'll Probably use it on a .243 or .270 rifle. Cheers for all your help.
  2. Wright which one would you recomend .22 Weatherby s/a mkxx11 OR .22 Ruger 10/22. I like the feel of the Weatherby and the way it fits my shoulder on the other hand i like the extra's available for the Ruger. I have shot the Ruger at my club and will have the oportunity to shoot the Weatherby this W/E. Any body compared these two before.
  3. Wright ! I got a call back from the FO and had quite a long discusion about what is exeptable(please mind the spelling ). One of two things are exeptable to fix it in the house to a plaster board wall. I have to find where the joists are in the wall and bolt a piece of ply wood NOT mdf or presswood larger than the cabinet to the joists through the wood with coach screws then bolt the safe to the ply wood through the plasterbord into the joists as well. Orrrr the other option is, is to lay down a small area of flooring down in he attic bolting it down to the joists securing the safe through the wood into the same joists using again coach screws. To be honest I thing putting it in the attic sounds like the safe-est and easy-est option. Thats probably what i'll do. I need to experiment and test the temperature fluctuation in the loft between cold nights and warm days, to make sure I wont get any condensation in the safe and water on the guns. (any body done this before). The last thing I want is my guns rusting. Thanks for all help. Gideon
  4. No Such luck it is quit a new build and no chimney! There is no brick work exposed inside this house. Hollow cheap houses costing a bomb to buy. Missed the FLO's phone call today left him a message again today hopefully i'll get hold of him tommorrow with a bit of luck.
  5. I've sent him an e-mail, now just waiting for reply. I drilled a pilot hole in the plaster board to check the thickness looks like it has been trippled up (being a deviding wall to next door) it apears to be about 30mm thick. So I have done a temporary dry fit using 10x100mm coach scews for mounting the floor to the joists and using heavy duty butterfly plaster board fixings for hanging kitchen cuboards to fix the safe's back to the wall. All done I grabed the safe on the inside to get a grip and gave it a good pulling sesion. Being a fat *** at fifteen and a half stone I could not even make it creek let alone move at all. Saying that i'll wait for the FEOs verdict to that before i make it permanent. Thanks for the great advice.
  6. I had a similar problem - no interior brick or block walls - but I do have a basement with poured concrete floor/walls. Trouble is that the like many older houses I couldn't find a suitably level surface where the floor met the wall. I decided to lay the cabinet on its back and simply bolt it to the floor. Obviously it does take up a lot of floor space but I'm fortunate in having a plenty of space to spare. Sadley I don't have a basement the average house in the uk is too small and cramped for that, but laying it down in my ''wardrope'' bolted to the timber floor frame. That could pass the fo's aproval, I just might have to give him a bell and hear what he has to suggest.
  7. The house I live in is a timber frame house with dry walls (plaster board inside) with no brick inside just out-side What do I do.
  8. That sheds some light thank you I will definateley ask on Tuesday. G.S
  9. Here goes. I'll be applying for my FAC soon, sad to say for paper hole punching first then once i find land to shoot on I'll have my FAC changed. (if that is posible?). So I have started to look arroung as to what I can buy (used of coarse) only till i can make up my mind as to what it is that i realy want then I will buy new. So my question is are any of these any good or am i looking for trouble. I looked at the following: Musgrave.22, smk 3-9x40 scope plus sound moderator for £249 CZ 527 .223 very good condition with only 20 or so round through it, no scope or mod for £295. Or shall I bite the bullet and go for both. Now that raises another question, I'm a member of a rifle club and they are not approved for .223 shooting, but I only live about 20min drive from Bisley and as a club we visit Bisly once a month. Will the police accept the fact that my club is not approved to shoot .223 but we visit Bisley as a club. Or do i have to be a member at Bisley to use them as my main ground to shoot that calibre from. Hope that make sense. I know that if I can find land to shoot on I don't have this problem. Right now I don't have the time to make face to face visits to farms, new baby and all. Cheers for all help Gideon
  10.  Everytime i watch this it makes me laugh
  11. Hunting Hyena's is all good and well the only problem is is that the ba#';ds is only gona laughat you only too make you more angry only then to give it something to laugh about. Then you pull out a 30-06 or 308 then we will see who laughs the loudest.
  12. Good Day to all. Just saying hallo and what a great site this is. Also i have lots of questions. I am from South Africa living in the UK. I have hunted many times back home, but yet to claim my first kill in this country. I am a member of a shooting club, but my real interest is in shooting Rabbits and fox a.w.a other vermin. I will be doing my deer stalking sert in the not to distant future. I am currently looking for land and will try to go knocking on farmers doors, but not sure where. Thats enough yabbing for now. Looking forward to some advice. Have a good shooting w/e.
