  1. Good luck with the barbel . Think I'm going to go to chigborough next weekend to get a bit of practice in before I head to hanningfield on the 11th of march cannot wait . Think I need to restock on buzzers , Fly box seems a bit low on them . Wish I could try for some wild browns would love to try that . Definitely going to take the fly rod on the beach in the summer to try for a bass . Could you suggest a basic setup for trying for bass on the fly ?

    Many thanks

  2. Fly fishing for bass is always something I've wanted to do but don't know if it could be done on the open shingle beaches I fish like Cley on sea , salthouse and weybourne in Norfolk or places like st oysth or bradwall on sea . As there aren't any rocks or reefs ?

  3. As far as I know you can use a drogue on hanningfield. I have just read their rules and it doesn't say that they aren't allowed ? I hope they are as got one for Christmas and keen to try it out . Hoping to fish Rutland this year as well . Would love to fish some rivers for proper wild trout

  4. After finally getting over of the depression since the end of the game season am going to dust off the fly gear and head out in pursuit of some rainbow trout . Who else enjoys a bit of fly fishing and what are your favourite places to fish and techniques? I normally fish hanningfield and chigborough . Mostly hanningfield as I love to drift on a boat flicking out a fly and my favourite technique is a floating line fishing nymphs, buzzers but found good success last season fishing teams of wet flies .

  5. Was lucky enough to get a invite to shoot a flight pond yesterday.

Arrived by the pond and got into position . First 3 groups of teal came in low and fast

From a unexpected angle and escaped without a shot fired . Changed position and had a group of 6 come in first shot missed second shot dropped a nice drake teal . As soon as the duck was brought too hand another group arrived they flared up seeing moment and took a nice female teal to my left at around 40 yards falling to my second shot . The ducks were coming in fast and I took my last duck of the evening a lovely drake teal right over my head was very pleased with 3 teal for the evening . Decided today to shoot a little pond in the middle of a large wood for my final flight of the season . Had my brother and one of my friends with me this evening and were hoping for some mallard and hopefully a few teal . Got into position around the pond and waiting for the action too start . Just as the light began to fade the first group of duck appeared 4 mallard which escaped evading to shots from my brother . Then a pair of teal appeared above us and both fell . Then teal began appearing from all directions from ones to a group as big as 12 the shooting was fast a furious and we ended the evening with 9 teal in the bag . Highlight of the evening was seeing my friend get his first ever duck a lovely hen teal . Fantastic end to the season can't wait till next .
