  1. Incidentally, the affore-mentioned MAP scope isn't completely as simple as the diagram shown. When I got my scope I went and downloaded Hawke's BRC (Ballistic Reticule Calculator - or something similar) software. With it I found that those aim-points will vary, depending on the muzzle velocity of your chosen pellets and the distance between the centre of the barrel and the center of the reticule. Not saying that the diagram is wrong or bad (I personally think it's great), and indeed most of the time it's a pretty accurate guide, but to make sure that you know exactly where those aim points are you'll need a chonograph (cheap at around £40 for a simple Combro) and the software (which is free), and perhaps someway of checking the height of the reticule above the barrel's centre. Something that I would like to work out myself actually... any ideas? I'd plug my rifle as well, but a Prosport is a bit expensive, heavy and hard to cock quickly (pratice makes perfect however). Have no idea what they cost secondhand though.
  2. I remember when the Safeway store I worked in converted to Morrisons (who use the quid for a trolley system). Loads of customers made such a big fuss about it, some swearing to never shop there again, just because of the trolleys!. I reckon they were the ones who kept dumping the bloody things all over the carpark, lazy slobs. Incidentally, aren't 1 euro coins the same size as pounds? If so, if you have one left over from a holiday, dedicated trolley token!!!
  3. Reminds me, I need to re-do my CBT. Can't bloody find my one anymore, and I'm pretty sure you need to present it when going for the proper test (although maybe I'm wrong ). And with regards to Pedro's comment about falling off, hell yeah! In the 4 years I had my scooter I fell off 4 or 5 times, although in my defence the weather conditions were horrible and those tyres weren't the grip-iest. Since the start of this year I've had my nice shiny little 125 bike (I have a car licence so can ride with L plates) and no accidents as of yet. Anyway, well done for passing
  4. Hey all! Finally went out to shoot with my new rifle today. Haven't been able to go sooner due to me and my friend working different shifts. Thoroughly enjoyed myself Only problem, I forgot to take a target to zero the scope with We were just shooting tin cans (tomato soup is great for that "bleeding" effect) starting at about 15m working up to 30m. I just fiddled with the scope until it was roughly on. Well impressed with my last shot though, it was one of those half sized tins of baked beans, hit it dead centre with a perfect through and through. I was sitting down, resting elbow on thigh. Unfortunately I'm going on holiday to Germany tomorrow for two weeks so I shant be shooting for a while One thing I've noticed, the trigger seems to be very light. Scared the hell out of me when I shot it the first time, I barely touched the trigger. Oh well, nevermind. Have gotten used to it for the most part. Just need to learn how to hold the rifle more steady, although the adrenaline from my excitement was probably the main culprit.
  5. A bit expensive yes, but to me it's a late 21st birthday present, so I decided to splash out. <Edit> Plus I prefer how the underlever is built into the stock, it keeps the lines nicer in my opinion</edit> Imageshack.us ok got it, will remember for the future
  6. Hello all! Some of you will remember when I first joined I was looking at and asking about multishot PCP rifles. A few of you suggested that I try a springer instead for a first rifle. So I went away and had a look at some, evaluating them based on your reviews and those in magazine/web articles. This lead me to pose the "springer contest" thread comparing the HW97K and the TX200. After reading over your opinions I went away again, and have now bought my air rifle! Although I never asked about, it was the Air Arms Prosport that caught my eye, which I bought from uttings in .22 with a (Hawke) MAP 3-9x40 scope. I also bought a tin of Accupells as an initial ammo to zero the rifle with. I haven't shot it yet but I must say this gun is beautiful. I find that it shoulders quite easily, and although it is a little weighty at first I don't believe it will take long to get used to it. Hopefully I shall be going out with a friend to his shoot later, as I don't yet have a permission, so I'll let you know how it goes. Not sure about this image thingy, but i'll give it a go. I have a 6.1 megapixel camera so the pics are quite big normally.
  7. Would that be Longleat Safari Park by any chance? If so then that's near where I live B) Funny how I've lived here for 15 yeas but have never actually been to the place though B)
  8. Ah I get you now. I don't suppose you know how much the v-glide system costs then?, you said it was expensive but didn't mention a figure. I would also assume you'd have to contact V-Mach directly for this, as I've not seen any mention of the v-glide system on any retail websites. Anyhow, we seem to have gotten slightly off-topic. I'd appreciate if maybe a few more owners of either rifle could post any more info about their weapons.
  9. V-glided? I've seen the V-Mach tuning kits, is that what you mean? They're currently £64.95 from airgunbuyer.com, which doesn't seem too much to me Anyhow thanks for the replies so far, now I've gotta go help the girlfriend move some furniture and then I'm off to the gym, so I shant be on here until later.
  10. Which of these do you guys think is better out of these two springers?: Weihrauch HW97K mkII Air Arms TX200 mkIII According to both airgunbuyer.com (Blackpool Air Rifles) and many, many people on reviewcentre.com, these are two of the best (if not the best) springers currently on the market. Both are underlevers, both have built-in silencers, and both are a bit hefty (supposedly helping to control the recoil). So hence I put it up to debate. German verses British engineering . Please put aside any feelings of predjudice and patriotism, I want this to be a good clean fight Also, another question to consider, which is quieter? Something else I noticed on reviewcentre, a few people found that their new TX200's were slighlty overpowered, at around 13 ft lbs. Is this common?
  11. Ok, thank you for the replies. MAP seems to be the winner from what has been said, so i'll try it. Thanks again!
  12. Hello! I've been looking around on uttings and notcied that they tend to bundle rifles with Hawke scopes by default. What I wanted to know was the difference between the Mil-dot and MAP (multi aim point I believe) reticles. Has anybody tried both, think one is better than the other?
  13. Still haven't had anyone tell me why they are bad though Anyway, thanks again for all the replies. I'm still thinking, and after some more studying I may consider relaxing my opinion about single shots. The saving in price would certainly help with the other bits and bobs, like the pump. Not bothered with a bit of effort, I go to the gym regularly and although i'm just shy of 5'10" I'm quite stocky
  14. How much extra would the postage be, and do you have any photos ?
