An article written by a Labour politician for a Centre-right newspaper....

No risk of bias there then.

    An opinion piece at that.

The Scotsman was once a respected quality broadsheet here, they lost claim to that title a long time ago.

BBC is also pro-union, I’m surprised that they don’t float the boat of the OP. But getting your news on YouTube....

Daughter in law has a Freelander only used for school runs. Completely trashed!!

    Tell me about it.

My truck was 6 tears old when I got it. The interior was in great condition. 2 years of 3 kids in it... now looks like it’s been used to transport livestock around in for a decade 😬.

Not bad Nath, might be sold and you haven't even put the year in your advert 😂👍 is it barn door to the rear or tailgate? All helps.

    😃

To be fair, I’ve been looking for one of these for ages (and have seen god knows how many in different models/configurations), but was after exactly this spec. From the photo I could just see it was tailgate, and t6 I’m sure came in 2016. Given the reasonable price I’d have already guessed it was a 16/17.

To my extreme disappointment, Mrs H, who will be driving it most to be fair, wishes a different colour. Grrrrrr.

Someone will pick up a great van here. From the additional photos and video walk round (see that’s a proper seller 😀), it’s clear it’s been very well looked after.

    good luck with the sale!

There is only 6mm difference between standard and long , standard listed as 375mm and long at 381mm

Thanks, I didn’t realise that measurement on the browning site was reference the stock, clearly is when converted to inches, thanks! Just the extra length really of a thin stock spacer.

They do offer a 'Short' stock on the current models, the 'Standard' being nearly 15". However as has been said, the Influx pad will fit, even if your gun does not have one already. As long as the rear of the stock is cut straight, the Influx pads will fit. Try fleabay, they are around £25. They do 3 thicknesses, I think the thickest is 25 or 28mm.

My current 525 has a plastic spacer, and the thickest Inflex pad too - a great fit LOP wise for me, but not the best looking. If the long stock version of the 525 is that bit longer allowing for no spacer and maybe even a thinner pad, it would look far better. But I can’t see that I can buy that variant without a black action.

Of course, this could all be marketing bs, and really the ‘longstock’ isn’t really much longer at all.

  7. Been mulling over a new gun (why not, right?). Currently have a Browning 525 adjustable Sporter. Picking it up for the first time after using other guns including a couple of berettas was like a revelation.

After faffing about the the adjustable stock, I’ve found that having it down, ie flush, as if it wasn’t actually there or used, suits me best. Doh! I do however have a spacer in to lengthen it (I’m a big gangly 6’2”). It is not, in my opinion, a thing of beauty - Mainly because of the stock.

I’ve seen a 525 ‘shadow’ longstock special edition. 15” stock, higher grade than standard, fits the bill 100%.

But... I just can’t get on board with a black action. Do Browning make a non-black long stocked o/u? Or can anyone suggest anything similar?

Every time this conversation comes up the same names peddling the same tripe.

Little England lives large in PW.

Sadly, I’d agree. And said sentiments would just get the hackles up of most Scots, independent minded or not. Boris and co falling over themselves to do likewise.

    After one generation we were😁

I’m just saying Britain ruled like 1/5 of the world at one time.  I wouldn’t be given up anymore territories.  Because if you lose Scotland and Wales you would loose a lot of oil rights in the sea would you not?

Every single one of the countries Britain ruled has since gone bankrupt and begged to be brought back into the empire though.... oh,no, wait...

One thing has always puzzled me. If Scotland is such a drain on the uk finances (and a political pain in the **** for the tories, who are widely despised here), why does England want to keep it?

My best guess is the nuclear base and the diminishing relevance of further parts of the empire defect?

  10. Just bought a new pair recently, great boots - take a little breaking in as they’re proper sturdy things, not uncomfortable though.

Have another pair I’ve worn every second day or so, for 15 years. Looking a little tired now but really just need resoled. First pair ordered directly half a size different from each other.

  11. As above, depends on the efficiency of the stove, what you burn (how dry), how often you use it, and how you use it - slow burning with vents shut down causes more **** to go up the chimney.

Ours is a modern pevex stove, using a variety of seasoned wood and some smokeless coal, for maybe the equivalent of every evening for 4 months of the year. Sweep has said every two years is plenty.

I got a cheap pair of amazon to try out. They cost 25 quid. If it wasn't raining I'd go to the garage and see what make they are.

They are great. My much richer friend has a far more expensive pair to go with his range rover (that does not get muddy  ever) and we can't tell the difference in fit or sound quality/reduction.

I got the awesafe ones from Amazon also, based on almost 5,000 good reviews. Absolutely spot on, to the point I wonder what the peltor ones would do better for the extra cost?
