  1. Excellent. Thought they’d been fine so far but interesting how pokey they are.
  2. Haha worried about the new gun! think they’re probably fine then… Not done any visible damage in 500 rounds and it’s a modern 3” superior steel proof gun so I doubt even degraded old powder would exceed pressures. I have no idea if that’s stupid logic or not though!
  3. Over the safe limit for what? Pressure? that can’t be good - I’ve shot 500 of them so far - could they be harming the gun?
  4. Not sure if this is a guns and equipment topic or cartridges but here we go. In a modern o/u I have shot all types of cartridges from 24-50 gram loads. However, recently I have been shooting some old 28 gram loads, and I’m wondering why they are so noticeably punchy. They kick way harder than any modern 28g load, and I also find some ‘quick’ 32g+ loads that are notoriously kicky (black gold etc) much softer. The cartridges are at least 30 years old. I was given a few slabs and they work fine, dust clays fairly nicely, but I’m baffled as to why they are so much more thumpy than anything modern?
  5. How quiet is that mod? I’m guessing it’s a lot louder than a 410 hushy?
  6. I wouldn’t mind a 22g 3 load in a twelve bore out to about 35 yards, as it’s likely to pattern well enough out to there. Granted, nobody would buy said load, but that’s because there is obviously way better loads available in 12 bore. A 410 with lead shot would also be equivalent to a seemingly **** load in a 12, but we still use them and love them.
  7. Do we think that if and when steel shot is required these will become a more readily available cartridge? Or is the demand simply not big enough to warrant them making them cheaply for mass market?
  8. So 12 bore steel loads have come on immensely and are now a formidable cartridge. 20 bore lacks the range of steel loads 12 has but I’m sure the development will follow for 20 given the popularity. However, will 410/28 gauges get steel loads for the market or will it be limited to home loads?
  9. Just had a good play and realised it comes from the cocking bars that run along the bottom of the action to the forend and connect to the ejector trips in the barrel monoblock. seems like it should probably be a fairly normal rattle then? Just found it’s the cocking/ejection bar in the bottom of the action.
  10. Not something that overly bothers me, but more something I perhaps didn't expect in a £6k gun. Just wondering if it’s normal for a rizzini (based on round body action) to have a rattle if moved backwards and forwards when shut (doesn’t do it when open)? cheers
  11. I’m sure it’s been answered many times before but I couldn’t really find a definitive answer. I have recently bought a b rizzini which has a lovely stock and nice finish which I believe is a synthetic oil they leave the wood submerged in for a couple of days. How should I go about maintaining this sort of finish. Is boiled linseed oil the way to go? Or should I use a synthetic oil like they used originally? The stock is well finished but you can see a tiny bit of the grain is not quite filled.
  12. So I have a few 12 bores of different guises, and a 20 bore o/u. However, I have an itch for a tiny, light 410 or 28 bore side by side. I don’t find the 20 bore too much worse than the 12 - maybe 10% lower scores on average. However, seen there are 410 championships and seen people struggling online - just worried I won’t hit anything at all! Would I be better off just getting a 20 sxs? Also is 28 bore going to be able to cope with steel shot, as in my understanding 410 won’t really?
  13. I see - is this a common way of doing it? It’s just I’ve never seen a gun with this on the action face before.
  14. Looking at a B rizzini em which is their round body game gun. I find it feels best of all the similar priced game guns and looks great, but wondering about mechanicals. The gun shop informed me their mechanicals are as good as any and will outlast me, but there isn’t much info online. Seems to be built on a very similar action as a beretta or any Italian gun really, but I notice a strange button on the action face I’ve never seen before - not sure what that does.
  15. Yes, this is true generally, but I was using the example of the same load through both gauges.
