The groups are tight with or without the mod so i think all's well. Good point about weight or pressure difference.

I have a SAKS mod on my CZ455, it does the job really well, only sound is a tiny "ppfft" from the muzzle and the bullet impact with subs. It tames HV ammo to an acceptable level too. While on the subject of mods, and apologies if i'm hijacking OP's thread, the POI alters with the mod in place by roughly half inch at 25 metres as opposed to when the muzzle brake is fitted. I thought maybe it's shaving a sliver of the bullet but i don't know. Any thoughts on this?

Hey Harry, what's clarity and eye relief like at the higher end of mag? I suppose eye position is more critical at 18x upwards? Neil.

Very true fister, i can't decide which is the better optic between the Hawke and the Nikko Stirling scopes mention above. (4-16x50)

I have a CZ 455 with a 16" barrel with a Hawke eclipse 4-12x50, was thinking of trying it on my M&P 15-22 and getting a new scope for the CZ. Been looking at the 6-18x50 Nikko Stirling Panamax too, it has some cracking reviews. Optics Warehouse are selling them at £112, best price i've seen advertised......... very tempted!

When you get the rust problem cured get one of those Napier VP90 stick on sachets for your safe. They keep rust at bay and unlike the dehumidifier blocks they won't dry out the natural oils from the woodwork. I have used them for many years, just replace it annually and your good to go.

I hear you fse, you'll no doubt be shooting at extended ranges with the hm. i can't see me shooting much further tham 100 yards with my .22 though. i'm assuming you've got the "Fastmount"? Whats the image quality like on full mag with the 4-16, is eye relief critical as opposed to lesser magnification? Neil.

I was thinking that 16x would be more than enough, i couldn't understand why the Hawke 6-24x50 was only roughly the same price as the Hawke 4-16x50. I'm assuming the 16x must be a better quality scope perhaps?

Hey everybody, I'm after a scope for my CZ455, the ones in my price range are the Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 4-16x50 AO IR and the Hawke Fastmount 4-16x50 AO IR. Also in the equation is the Hawke Fastmount 6-24x59 AO IR at just a few quid more. A couple of questions if i may.......which is the best make between the Nikko and the Hawke in the £100 price range? I was wondering if the 6-24x50 would be as clear as the lesser magnification scopes, although i can't envisage me using the extra magnification above 16 times. Any and all comments will be be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The mounting rails on the rifle are weaver rail type, so you need the same type of mounts to attach your scope to the rifle, 20mm instead of the 11mm in the pic bud.

I like fitting a gun cabinet to an interior wall, saves any problems if damp is an issue.

That's a broad question, there are many cartridges that fit the bill. As a very rough guide 28 grams of #6 would work ok with light recoil for an extended session in the hide. Or if you fancy something with a bit more oomph try 30 grams, you won't need anything to exotic to down them. It then boils down to personal preference and confidence in your chosen cartridge. As for make, you'll be hard pushed to find one that's not suitable. Load up and enjoy your shooting. Neil.
