My wildfowling season has been heavily disrupted by our landlord (MOD) having what I assume is a civilian shooting club what feels like every Saturday and Sunday. Each time I plan to make a trip in advance and take a probationer out it is cancelled. It would be great to be 40 years older and retired with a pick of the days based upon weather, but sadly my life is heavily timetabled in advance with many commitments and the late notice of the rifle shooting has nuked all but one day.

They start at 0900 which is too early to be able to get off after a morning flight, and finish at 1600 which is too late to head out for the evening flight. I will email the wildfowling club chairman to see if there is a workaround but feel bad as it’s not his fault.

See if you can speak to the range warden/staff. Depending on the layout of ranges etc there’s usually a workaround.

I’m a probationer, the offers are slim pickings judging by the WhatsApp group. One guy was quite willing to help but we both have young kids/families and full time jobs so timing is key. Others who were meant to be helping seemingly weren’t. I’m left feeling it was a waste of a wait and fee sadly.

I’d have tried talking the disc out before ordering incase I needed a tool for the job

some aya have a screw on the side you have to take out first

    its also a gas vent

I checked, the yeoman doesn’t, asi confirmed. I had that problem in the past with a XXV.
I can knock a tool up in work easy enough.

Hopefully it should prove straight forward….tempting fate 🤣

I've just bought a Yeoman Ejector. Out of Holt's. I had nearly to get a mortgage on the house to afford it. £65 including commission. So far so good. Tried it last week for twenty-five cartridges. Hit twenty-four out of twenty-five clays.

I nearly went for the matador but I had a bad experience with an AYA single trigger before so kept away. This was the beaver tail yeoman. No2 son is very happy with it. I doubt I’ll go the auction route again if I’m honest, glad you’re happy with yours.

Hicky,  I have the exact same model of Yeoman.   Not many of these about, it is an excellent gun, I use mine for everything including geese on the shore, enjoy it!

It’s stamped as 900kg proof and has fairly open chokes 2 3/4 chamber.

Good to hear, I’ve been been on the lookout for it for a while, what have you put through yours ?

I’ve got some 32g 3’s super steel I was going to let him use. It’s a little loose so will need attention soon but I got it for little money.

  5. Well the nipper has had two days using my sxs, shot well enough and as such I've got him a summer project.

An AYA pistolgrip beavertail Yeoman. It needs some tidying up however I feel he'll learn a fair amount from doing it. Before that though we have one last day on our shoot where he'll get the chance to try it. I cannot wait for Saturday.

I’ve already emailed ASI to see if they can source a replacement buttplate as it’s cracked and any info they have in the archive.

legalized theft TBH. You pay Tax when purchased, pay road tax, tax and duty on the fuel to run it - and then they come up with more cockamamie ways to get even more money - Mersey Tunnels to be free once costs recovered and then a convoluted sale is done to a foreign company of said same and the tolls remained. Runcorn crossing went from one free bridge to two tolled bridges (and in a way that lots of people miss the fact it is tolled and have the pain of having to deal with escalating costs) and again this is foreign companies.

With what I see happening in Liverpool, I foresee that it won't be long until this is applied there. I had to take the MIL to the hospital the other week, then got stuck in a traffic jam for an hour to get to the tunnel - this was at lunchtime. I bet they monitor the air quality at times like that to support their narrative.

Plus the bridge building company/council have yet to fulfil the promise to the local wildfowling club.

Some idiot will be along to criticise them at some point no doubt! I do think they'd be better off leaving their phones locked away when having fun

100% on both counts, the latter being more accurate for so many things.....been there thrown that. Now serve them the food to launch all over the shop 5 seconds later 🤣

  8. Another payday, I wish them well for the money and hope they remain safe once it's over. far too often these fights happen when the individuals are past what was their best.

Calzaghe v Jones Jr, Mayweather Pac being a couple that come to mind.

I just want to say a massive NO THAT IS WRONG to this based on current thinking.

Once a CAT is on, you leave it. You NEVER take it off. You put a note on it to when you applied it, but you do NOT take it off.

Older thinking was to release and reapply to prevent toxic shock. Only allow the hospital to do this, DO NOT TAKE IT OFF. All you are going to do is remove even more blood from the system. You're best off saving a life and losing a limb, than losing a life from loss of blood. A CAT is applied due to a catastrophic bleed, the word catastrophic should emphasise.

You would have been right several years ago with that thinking, but Police, ambo, firearms etc (and even my meagre St Johns 3 day first aid at work course) say do not remove it. The only time (and assuming you've not done it on a joint) you look at it not working, is when you apply a second CAT, above the first.

Please don't remove a CAT. I have sadly seen people die roadside from this old school thinking.

Again, Hicky, not having a go. Current best practice is put it on and leave it on. There are a few weird exceptions, mostly for medical professionals, around travel time to a hospital and what other injuries there are. As I would assume most people are within an hour of treatment rooms and not days away from climbing, it's easier to just say leave it on unless directed by a doctor.

    Leave it on
    Call all the nines
    Hope they get there PDQ

I'm go with current taught practice, no offence taken pal.🙂

My knowledge is from a CMT1 in the forces(so clearly not aimed at joe bloggs in the street) and as you say there are caveats you touch upon which I should of put on my original post.

  10. The general guidance is bang a CAT-T on, then the bandages....over 10 mins release the CAT and check for bleeding out(more than likely unless you're the character Wolverine).

To make them work effectively you really need to crank the windlass especially if the limb is a two bone affair ie lower limb.

Venous bleed should be ok with emergency bandage depending on the severity.

As for pouches etc look to Jayjays/Dixies corner or for an ifak pouch if its MTP you want.

I carry a first aid kit in the back of the car but i thought a tourniquite was frownd on now unless used by a trained medic as not used correctly it could do more harm than good . We where instructed you could use up to 3 pressure banages to stop the blood flow while waiting on help ??

Depends on the situation and the knowledge of the first aid giver.

If the bloods flowing(arterial) then you want that stopping quick smart. Worry about any damage later.
