  1. stealth rifles are good, some get teething trouble like a lot of guns here ,ive heard horror stories but it happens to air arms 410,s too, they used to come over here unlubed, but that got ironed out, check out some american sites/ air force airguns, some military units use them to take out streetlights quietly , at 200yds, with 25inch barrels, theres a tips site too, look under( airforce airguns home page)
  2. This is my favourite rifle, its a 177 97k,with the shortened piston /long stroke ,it hits like a 22 maybe harder withheavy pellets, and is supremely accurate out to ridiculous ranges, the standard spring had to lose several inches to use at 11 ft lb,due to the extra air volume, and piston studs, and is glass smooth to lock and load,
  3. there always will be, so the mistakes will mount
  4. With the 177 you have the choice of lightweights for long range accuracy accupels/premiers, and for the heavy hitters you can use the 20 grain piledrivers, and they hit with a heavier thump than some 22s, so theres little more to argue about with the pellet conundrum,i have a weihrauch 97k in 177 the piston has been shortened , with a decent spring can put out near 20 ft lb, but that is not the reason the work was carried out,the gun shoots sweeter with a shorter spring so has more power for less effort, and seems more accurate for it,,
  5. Dave -g does sum it up and ,i can go with that, i browse lots of shooting sites and im sure they all have their own sets of rules, but it seemed a little excessive , removing the picture and warning me would have been a more mature way of dealing with it, BUT rules are rules and i shall take my punishment without the slice of lemon
  6. airgun bbs,it must be some anti airgun lobbying site from what im hearing, when you subscribe to these sites you expect to see hunting images, same with fishing/ even flower growers weekly has pictues of panzies being beheaded,do we plant lovers complain? The site is aimed at airgun enthusiasts,
  7. That looks a fine brace fella, hope you enjoy as much as i do. definately easier to skin , but they probably lose a bit of flavour in doing so, they have special oil glands that flavour the meat and hold on to it during cooking,,having said that, duck seems to fayre well skinned, not half as messy
  8. would you split as i would like the scope for my 97 Sorry fella, its got to go as a combo, hence the price, the rifle is the long stroke 97k, has more air volume, the under lever cocks further back due to the shorter piston,
  9. Thanks guys, good to hear sense, it seems a bit strange to me , the site discusses shooting game in graphic detail but condones images, you cant have a magazine without images, like you say its good to see how others are doing and the lay of the land, keep up the good work chaps, nice one, heres another for good measure/ maggie bashing
  10. long stroke/ higher air volume, buttoned piston,MY personal rifle is for sale , its a super smooth performer would suit similar pest controller, the rifle is an 07 model and was bought in march, for clearing bunnies off a golf course and farm land opposite, the golf course is clear of them now , and the turf fields are void of the critters, winter is upon us and im not hanging around in hides,to get the stragglers that are left, im letting them be for next year, the rifle is in lovely condition, theres the slight knocks that have left thir marks on the stock, as small as they are ,it is silent to cock and load , hence my success this year, comes with a 3-12+44 AGS SWAT scope and padded drag bag,(double shoulder straps,) im asking ?270 for this rifle which is a steal, send me a pm for more photos, the rifle has had extensive fac work carried out and has a long stroke conversion, which means the piston is shorter than a standard 97 so has 15mm more air volume the underlever comes further back on cocking, it is now legal limit with several inches off the standard spring, the piston has been buttoned, too ,the whole cocking cycle is like glass and can be cocked and loaded silently,
  11. I was recently asked by my buddy to post a picture of my combo for sale in airgun bbs, so after editing the photo so it was large enough to see ok the bunnies in the picture had to be edited out, happy with the result i uploaded the image, only it hadnt changed from the original,i pondered on what i had not done for a mo, then turned off and went to bed, later the next day had a look for any feedback to find im banned from the airgun site for posting a picture containing dead rabbits,What has it come to, if it was a fishing rod with a picture of a decent cod in shot, i would be deemed a hero,

    distances

Up in scotland ive a shooting buddy who can hit a golf ball out to 110 yards with a FAC, hw 97k,long stroke, and takes rabbits regular at 80+ meters,an amazing rifle shot by an amazing bloke, 2 dots down on a mil dot scope, in 177. makes shooting springers kids play

    Baiting for rats..

swap and change baits regular , rats are cute , they remember what and where danger points are,and start avoiding certain areas, try biscits, old pies , some rotten fish, theres some good tips on this page try as many as you can, and move around each visit, dont shoot from the same spot ,
  14. Theres hundreds of decent pellets out there a pellet for all occasions!! so dont take any notice of the caliber debate its PANTS, if you dont want overkill on smaller pests/game use heavier pellts,177 users have a choice of longer range shooting,or similar to 20 caliber for mid range =11 grain pellets //up to 20 + grain pellets for shorter ranges ,the important thing to do when useing the heavier pellets is to practice with them first, get used to their trajectory ,and limit your ranges to the weights of lead your useing,,and clean the barrel out before changing brands, the lubricants used in some pellets ,dont agree with others, happy shooting, theres a pellet for all situations these days,if you can be bothered testing a few different weights ,you wont need different guns for different game// if youve just tuned your airgun its a good idea to use heavier pellets to shorten the running in time, the gun will stop dieseling quicker than if you were useing lighter ones,

    rabbits squeel

rabbits usually squeel when they are hit in the spine, and realize they cant run
  16. i use 177 for everything, ive got a 22 springer 12 foot pound, not a patch on long stroke 97,in 177,silly groups at silly ranges, dont believe too much ,the caliber conundrum will rage on for ever, the extra 300 fps of the 177 does something for me,and has cleared my land of rabbits, the squirrels are next ,
  17. ive not had two tins the same yet,, where can i get premiers from?
  18. grind some hazel nuts up and a dollop of peanuts, they love nuts,,heat them up and seal them in a sandwich bag then only pierce it when you get to where your going and hang it in the breeze two feet from the ground, get wrapped up though,
  19. clives a good bloke ,take it back, sounds like the trigger, we dont want the guy fiddling with a trigger , clearly doesnt know the crack, could end up lethal
  20. im sure weve all done something stupid at least once in our lives, and some just dont learn, others play on bad memories, and some only learn with a big stick!
  21. i use 177 for everything the pellet argument is a fallicy, if the rifle,s up to the job then your half way there
  22. you dont say what rifle your using, the accupel are as some others will tell you either the best pellet for your gun or theyre bobbins, the only other pellet i use ars crosman premiers at 7.9 in 177, work great in my hw 97k and my bsa xl,my buddy uses them in his tx 200,all great gear, the daystate and air arms are to inconsistant, i like to plink at bottle tops up to 120 + yds and the only pellets good enough are crosmans 177 /7.9 gr and a 16 ft pound hw 97k,realy amazing stuff.
  23. best ive used in either caliber are, crossman premier(177 the 7.9 weights)best pellet up to now, and ive fed a few thousand tins of so called other f t pellets none come close, air arms field pellets not bad but splay out after 30 yds,or if its a bit breezy at night, a lot of pellets are loose in the newer guns, crossman acupells, very good but check the pellets there before shooting/ if you after de cock your rifle like me,i dont walk about with the gun cocked and like to cock the gun on spotting my prey, ocasionally the pellet will jump out,so point the barrel down, all the best

    Venom Tuning

hi LC,the tx 200, is pretty much already tuned, its got the rear synthetic bearing and is very accurate, and has better internal stability than the 77 /97out of the box, the 77/97 are rather unrefined, but dont let that put you off, some slight tweaks will tame the old chimney, and put it with the best, from then its simply a matter of taste, you can have the synthetic bearings put on the front of your piston too(tx200)like the pro sport, these refinements are the difference between out of the box tuned, and a hundred quid, or so,if your wanting power too, and opt for the tx go for the longer barrel, you will be able to wring the last bit of accuracy from it,,i dont know why but the 97 gets the ton spent on it every time ,but like i said personal,,maybe im just too much of a tight wad to see my 10 year old custom stock go to waste!!
