I've renewed both my SGL and FAC - the extension runs out in 3 days !

I've tried calling (Staffs) and they don't answer the phone, I've left a message but no reply as yet

I gave the Dr my forms and £70 I presumed they'd emailed / sent it weeks ago but they text me yesterday to say I could collect it - surely that's not right ?

I think I only reapplied 4 weeks before my cert was up and had an almost 4 MONTH extension but unknown to me nothing has happened

    Can I request a Section 7 ?

I take it your like me under Staffordshire when you say Staffs  the phone line is only available between I think 10am and 11am I have had no problem speaking too them. Okay never assume or presume anything with Docs at the moment thinking they would send or email your doc form to firearms what evidence would you have if they said we sent it oh I must have got lost in the post it’s upto you too send it not them also if you sent signed for letter there would then be evidence too say received. Also it would need checking over by yourself so no nasty surprise like I had then had too do an ammenment to my medical disclaimer. Hopefully you will get it sorted out soon

    Just my twopennath.

Sent my renewal in about 10 weeks before expiry. Got a confirmation letter back.

2 weeks before expiry I got an 8 week extension. Then on the Saturday before the extension ran out on the Monday I put the guns in with a local rfd as I'd heard nowt. Called them (staffs) on Monday and explained, recieved a 2 month sec 7 on the thursday and picked guns up on Saturday.

When I talked to them in March they were on with November's certs so I might just get in before another sec 7. I cerpently won't be letting it go to the wire again.

Spoke to the Lady from Staffs Firearms dept last Sunday at the stalking show literally said same to me just on Nov/Dec exp dates said my licences exp in Jan and my extension due too exp on 24th this month said my just get done before but if not they will grant me another ext

  3. Currently have a Toyota Auris est hybrid it’s a self charging one never had a full battery charge and never had chance to use see how far it would go just on electric but brilliant car does about 45-70mpg depending if rural or motorway but my next Co car is a Seat Leon fr est plug in they recon 35mls on full charge but I’m realistic 25miles max I would say but I’m converted to hybrid now even my missus after driving mine now wants one. Yes the way too go will be hydrogen in the future

Not a very professional approach from them, glad Cambridgeshire are more on the ball.

Roughly worked it out they have had all my paperwork for over 3 months now but hearing some of the stories of other guys at least I got my extensions were it appears some forces not willing hand out and I estimate another 2 months before sorted at least if need any carts my missus or nephew can get them for me but should have enough last

  5. I contacted the force I’m under as my extension runs out on the 24th this month was told if no one contacts you call us couple of days before expiry and we will send out some more extension paperwork so I have put a note on my calendar too call them as I don’t think I will be getting a visit

  6. Ok thanks for the replies guys it gets cleaned after every shoot day doesn’t matter if it’s 25 carts or 100 carts unlike mate of mine never cleaned it since he had it, my way of thinking is look after it, it will look after you. My regime is Napier down barrels leave that for 15/20 mins turning the barrels over so all sides get coated give the forend a wipe down with cotton bud and cloth then same with stock and action then bronze brush down barrels wipe thru with cloth after about 4 goes with Napier and cloth run bore snake then again cloth and bit of oil or grease around ejectors after cleaning them job done

  8. Okay hold my hands up and admit I was incorrect about the mot superseding the old one if done before the end of the current one this thinking the same with a few others is because of the computerisation of the mot. I spoke to a mate who is on enforcement with DVSA he said no it doesn’t a lot off folk think that and was put out it would happen but never did so there is my confusion on the subject. He said that due to the computerisation of records it can be pulled up and if a serious defect ie steering brakes suspension and a few other items then yes you could be prosecuted for the offence of driving knowingly with a serious defect then depending on how bad wether your insurers could cancel/void your policy admitted he had just dealt with one recently. So that’s it so Wymondley you were correct my friend at least I will admit my mistakes unlike a lot of folk I know

You can get your MOT done up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.

That gives you about 4 weeks to get any repairs done before the old certificate expires, you have to draw the line somewhere.

I've been in the trade for over 40 years and It's been like that for as long as I can remember.

If you look at the front of your MOT certificate, it tells you the earliest date you can present your vehicle for test to preserve the old expiry date.

Not sure what the issue is, you paid for 12 months MOT and that's what you got.

You lost a month off the old certificate, and assuming you pay full price for your MOT that means you've lost about £4.60!

All well and good but if you fail an mot then that supersedes the current which is then no use too anyone also if continuing too drive and get pulled over you could be prosecuted for driving on a public road knowingly with a defective vehicle ( which then makes your insurance null and void) as when the mot is carried out due to computerisation it is automatically updated so on record. My advice is keep your car maintained also before mot have it checked over by someone who knows what they are doing so you get a straight pass or at worst a PRS pass rectified at station from an ex class 4 & 7 tester also council taxi/private hire vehicle tester. Also believe it or not a PSV can get upto 14month mot due to the date of 1st use as theirs are different too cars and hgv’s

  10. Pees me off when someone reply’s too your add you then tell them the price because of the weight too send knock money off straight away to help the deal they read your reply and can’t even be bothered too say No bit too much mate can we agree a price certain we could have done a deal too suit both of us
