  1. Just out of interest have you tried a 692 ? If not. May I suggest you have a look

no i will look at one of these

Has one got the field/game stock and the other the sporter stock. Other than that they tend to be the same dimensions across the rage i.e. all field ones same and all sporters the same regardless of model.

Has yours been altered or did you own from new. The game/field stocks never fit me as well as the spotter stock so I always swap them.

i bought mine from new around 9 years ago

  2. After years of owning a beretta 686E it has always felt a bit awkward when mounting and not really felt part of me, at the weekend i had borrowed a beretta 690. The difference was amazing, it felt great when mounting and almost felt like we were one item ( hope this makes sense )

What i want to know apart from how the gun feels, is there much a difference to anyone in the know?

    Best rgds

  3. its really easy, call them up and let them know how much you have been payed, you get to keep that money in gross. As i am on paye with my main job then just add the amount to that and altered my tax code to suit, its my job to inform them every year if i earn more or less than what i has just declared. as long as you don't go over the 2500 allowance or invoice the shoot for your work then you won't have any issues

I also had this on Sat but it has not concerned me. If you do go over the lower tax threshold you only pay 40% tax on earnings over and above so it will only affect you if you start doing ALOT of beating, or if on the edge of the lower tax limit it will just mean you only keep 60% of what you are paid to beat if you teeter over the current tax code.

thats what i was also told as i was getting close, if i go over by £500 then i only pay 40% on the 500

  4. Well done to both of you - cherish the memory.

I myself had one of each - a son and daughter, my boy is an anti and my daughter loved country sports, shooting, ferreting and all dog work.

thanks all, sounds like my two. My son loves it but my daughter wouldn't do it. She only likes to look after the birds and shoot clays but doesn't entertain shooting anything else

  5. A very proud dad I am today, my lad was invited to boys day on the shoot I keeper and not only was this his first shoot day he has only ever shot at the Clay ground.

  6. im lucky enough to have been on pigeonwatch from the start (i joined in 2002 and was member no 60 iirc).

it was a site filled with guys that were into fieldsports , if two people did the same thing differently , they wouldnt have a hissy fit and fall out , they would generally share information then go and give the other guys method a try.

if a user asked a question (even if it was a daft one) , they would get gentle guidance in the right direction , not abuse.

pw only had one moderator in those days , because it only needed one moderator , because members were polite and respectful of each other.

pw has evolved in much the same way as the world has evolved in the same time span , sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.

i think the mods on here do a cracking job , especially considering some of the cack that they get thrown at them sometimes , they give up their own personal spare time , to keep the site moving along as smoothly as possible , i may not agree with some of the bannings , but i also dont know the reasons behind them, and i can pretty much guarantee that their will be good reasons.

i know quite a few members that never post (or who have stopped posting) , because of the grief and aggravation , its a massive shame because the site and the shooting world in general is poorer for their lack of input.

ive made many good friends during my time on pigeonwatch , and i hope to carry on doing the same well into the future.

Exactly what you said I have also been here a long time and seen the changes over the years, funny thing out of all the forums I am a member on this is the worse for people disrespecting others when there views do not match.

Also as another member stated that on most forums off topic is out the way at the bottom and not used much where here it's the main bit

  7. Lordy, Lordy..........there's no pleasing some folk eh!

Here is an offer of free entry to the game fair if you are a member of BASC.

How much simpler could this be - member of BASC, prove it, get in for free! Happy Days!

Do BASC organise the game fair? NO

Do BASC chose where the game fair is held? NO

Do BASC subsidise the game fair? NO

Do BASC profit from the game fair? NO

    etc, etc, etc,

well said, some just like moaning
