  1. After months of hard work I'm pleased to finally be able to say that our brand new 75 yard indoor range, A.I.R. Extreme will be open to the public from 26/07/15! For more information about A.I.R. and our facilities see our website http://www.athertonindoorrange.co.uk/
  2. Hello, I'm one of the two new owners of Atherton Indoor Range (AIR) in Greater Manchester and I'm trying to let people know about the changes in ownership and management, as well as the changes being made to the range. Atherton Indoor Range is a friendly all weather indoor range. The range is 42yds with a 10 metre pistol range. We have many different targets (spinners, bells sound reactive) as well as paper targets at varying distances, perfect for zeroing your gun. The range has something for everyone, whether you are a serious shooter, or just want a bit of plinking. We have just reduced range fees to £6, and there is no time limit set on the range, you can shoot all day if you have the energy! Free air fills for guns is provided. We are currently refurbishing the range to improve the facilities and the general shooting experience. We are building a new social area where you will be able to order hot food (hot drinks are already available), and watch a bit of TV or have a chat with your fellow shooters. We are also building what will be a fully stocked shop (pellets are already available at very competitive prices) so you will be able to try a gun before you buy it! Our opening times are - Mon - Closed Tues - Closed Wed - 2pm - 9pm Thurs - 2pm - 9pm Fri - 12pm - 9pm Sat - 9am - 5pm sun - 9am - 5pm We are open every bank holiday except Christmas and New Years Day from 10am - 5pm. Please note, the website has not yet been updated with the correct contact details and opening times. We hope to get this changed in the coming week, and we will make it clear on the website once it has been updated. If you wish to contact us you may use the email link on the website as this has been redirected to us, or just pop in for a chat and a look!
  3. Hi All, I'm pretty new to shotgun shooting and I have a few questions about when to pull the trigger and when to wait. I have a Winchester SX3 and am using 30mm Size 6 with 30g loads and a 1/2 choke. I am using either a pop-up hide, or poles and cammo depending on the situation. First outing: 25 shots, 2 crows. DOH! Questions: At what range would you all hold-fire with the above set-up? Would you use another Choke size, and if so, which? (I have the usual: Full, 1/4, 1/3, 3/4) For the ranges; 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m and 50m, given an average speed of 30mph, what would the lead be? Aside from the pattern, what would be the closest decoy distance, and the furtherest? Is an electronic Crow caller illigal to use in the UK? If so, why are they for sale? Thanks in advance all, Jamie
  4. Hi everyone. ive recently bought myself a pre owned AA TX200 MK2. ive read quite a bit of stuff on here about the recommended killing range for rabbits, 35 / 40 yards, required group sizes etc. i don't have a chronograph so im wondering if there's a common house hold item i.e a tin of beans etc that i might shoot to measure at what range "my" rifle would kill a rabbit. eg would it need to shoot straight through the full tin, or would penetrating just one side represent enough power for a clean humane kill, any idea's =) ?
