Hello! I used to shoot semi-auto more than 10 years ago (in different country) and since then did not shoot anything. So, I loose any muscle memory in mounting/moving with a shotgun. I am now looking to buy an Over/Under shotgun. I have been to a local gun shop last week and tried about 15-20 guns. Some felt better than the others (overall, brownings and browning-like guns felt better than beretta and beretta-like ones), but the problem is that my mount is inconsistent, I find that I can mount a gun 5 times and get a good picture and good feel, then mount it 5 more times and get horrible feeling from it. So, after more than an hour I was not sure what actually fits and what not. So, I am in a vicious circle... I cannot properly check the gun fit without consistent mount, but to get the consistent mount I need to train mounting (at least at home with a mirror) and for this I need to buy a gun (ideally, which will fit me at least relatively well). I can see two (not necessarily mutually excluding) options: Go to a local shooting ground and hire a gun from them (try different ones over several days/weeks) and see how they will behave in action. It will contribute to mounting consistency and muscle memory, but will not be enough to get good consistent mount. Buy relatively cheap gun which feels OKish now, train with it at home in front of a mirror to get a consistent mount, then, decide whether it fits me well and either leave it or sell it and find one that properly fits me. I would assume, it must be a common problem for people, who did not start shooting from early age, so, there should be some recommendations, but I failed to find any. What do you think about the options that I listed above? Do you have any other ideas for what can be done to break the vicious circle? Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Everyone, New Member to the forum, Been Clay Shooting just over a year now and loving every minute of it. You will usually find me at JJ's Shooting ground in Dartford on a Saturday or Sunday trying to get my name on the scoreboard. My Bang stick is a Benelli 828u Sport or the Beretta A400Xcel Black. Ammo i use is Fiocchi F3 piston / Black Sport Been using the Lyalvel express English Sporter last couple of weeks as i won them in the comp (must be doing something right) Question i have is ... Gamebore Velocity Vs Lyalvel Power Gold / Reds I'm using Muller U2 chokes in the 828u and the standard extend chokes in the A400 Whats the best Carts for around £220 per 1000? Would love to get the Benelli adjusted to me if anyone has ideas of a good place to go locally? Thanks for reading

In the past I've bought guns which are nice to handle and feel right but have never given much regard to proper gun fit. I recently bought a new semi auto and when mounting and looking down the barrel, the middle bead and end bead line up in the figure of eight, which is what I believe they should do. In effect I'm looking along the rib. Now back to my O/U with single bead, when mounted it looks like I'm looking down a bowling alley. I can see the whole rib and the bead at the end. I assume that's not the best fit?

Hi Everyone, Yes I am yet another New shooter. I have had GC visit and its due any day. I have been shooting for only five months and am looking forward to purchasing my first gun for both me and the wife. I am worried about gun choice and have read as many posts as possible on the subject. I am moving in the direction of a 525/725/MK38 (R/H 30") for me and most probably a SP1 (L/H 28") for my wife. I have lined up a number of these guns to try at next weeks Midland Show. I am keen to more about what goes on during a Gun Fit session and if there are any recommendation as to where to go to be sure of a good professional service (I have heard some horror stories). I am based in Bucks but am happy to travel a reasonable distance if necessary. Any advice greatly received.
