onlyme
noticed around the shoot today , rimmy and airrifle day , as no real wind again the feral numbers are really boomin around here (warks) seen a good flock of about 200 and another group of at least 150 guestimating, whereas the woodys are really spliting up into groups of 2's to 5 birds and are very infrequent in there patterns in general, the winds are set to pick up during this week with thursday looking really good on the forcast so far with 20km winds, and found a place the woodys are feeding and traveling to albiet infrequently between rape drillings and a maize field , but will drop nicely on the clover in a grazing field. the plan is to set up in a premade hide (yesterdays work !) middle of the main flightline that backs onto the maize and 15 yards from the main sitty tree and take the birds on the wing for the maize and any that want to drop on the deeks. the ferals are non responsive to anything at the moment but there time will come in a month or so with the cattle/sheep feed looking forward to that .... anyone else noticing the same sort of patterns on there shoots, its my first year decoying and have read loads and tried a few different things with mixed results, it seems somedays you cant go wrong doing the minimum and yet otherdays try as you might , you may aswell have a nap for half hour at a time. Cranfield
It sounds as though you are spending some useful time on reconnaissance. We get very few ferals where I shoot, definitely no flocks, perhaps the odd two or three is all. The woodys are starting to get into small groups, but these seem to be young birds. There are still a lot moving about in pairs, but it will change once we get a frost or two.
