claybreaker
can bore brushes damage the bore of a shotgun?
Tobyb525
The wire ones? I was thinking the same thing. I just use jag and kitchen roll
jimmyb79
A brush made from bronze shouldn't do any damage on modern barrels as it is made from a softer metal. I too just use the jag and kitchen roll most of the time, but if you get a really stubborn bit of dirt up there, the brushes can be useful. VicW
Bore brushes have been sold for years for cleaning shot guns. If they did any damage no one would buy them. Gunsmiths use them. The brass/bronze brush bristles are softer than the barrel metal. I would agree though that most of the crud comes out with a spray of cleaner and wads of kitchen paper. Billy.
I swear by them for cleaning a shotgun. They do a great job. Not so keen on rifle use, not because of the risk of any damage, but to do with the fact that they strip the barrel of the microscopic layer that each bullet leaves, meaning you lose your zero for a few shots.
