bore brushes

Bore brushes have been sold for years for cleaning shot guns. If they did any damage no one would buy them. Gunsmiths use them. The brass/bronze brush bristles are softer than the barrel metal. I would agree though that most of the crud comes out with a spray of cleaner and wads of kitchen paper.

I swear by them for cleaning a shotgun. They do a great job.

Not so keen on rifle use, not because of the risk of any damage, but to do with the fact that they strip the barrel of the microscopic layer that each bullet leaves, meaning you lose your zero for a few shots.
