Beardo
having been down the cheaper scope route myself, you're better off finding a decent second hand scope - this is especially noticeable with dusk / night shooting where you really will notice the difference. if you don't want to go up to the cost of a swaro/s&b/zeiss then look at Leupold, Nikon Monarch or Bushnell 6500
Baldrick
Don't bother. Like Nick says, your money is much better spent on a second-hand scope of European origin.

groach1234
i have a 4-16x50 on my hmr and love it but on a centre fire i would try to pick up a good make fixed mag as when i went stalking i had used a 6x42 or something similar Swarovski and the low light capability was amazing. Either way i find on mine when on 16xmag in lower light the clarity does go a little bit foggy but put it down to 10 and it is fine. Mr_Logic
They are just about bearable. For a .243, I wouldn't worry about all the magnification. If your target is distant, you will want to dial in, and their adjustments are pretty naff tbh. Get the 4-16 or 3-12, or maybe a Mamba if you want to go that route. Personally if I was getting something in that ballpark it would be a Falcon, had one of those out on the ranges, first time I'd shot 500 yards, and 3 shots later it was in the v-bull, without ballistic calculator then too. I.e. take a punt on the first one, and then dial in according to the reticle thereafter. However, I would echo any sentiments which are "get secondhand european" - definitely worth doing, the quality is vastly better.
townsend819
Have that exact model on an airgun at the mo, so here we go, you get exactly what you pay for, high end airgun scope or low end centrefire, the glass is nice and clear in the daytime but not great getting towards dusk/night, I have no problems shooting mine with a lamp though, cant fault it, or any of the MTC stuff for that matter, the 4-16x50 Mamba sits on my rabbiting rifle at the moment. Its just a how long is a piece of string thing again...... HTH Will
